UNSOLVED MYSTERIES SEASON 1 – Netflix Review (2020)

by Gumbercules9000 on Jul 1st, 2020

Unsolved Mysteries captured the sleuth in every person that watched the NBC show in the 1980s and early 1990s as one unresolved case after another was shown to the world with evidence, interviews, and great re-enactments all led by the fantastic and serious host Robert Stack. This style of show catapulted a barrage of spinoff series that dove into true crime which then transformed into the ever-popular true crime documentaries and podcasts. Netflix has decided to reboot Unsolved Mysteries with Stranger Things creator Shawn Levy, but without any of the elements that made the original entertaining and fun, and even coherent.

by Gumbercules9000 on May 4th, 2020

“Dead To Me Season 2 is a tight and entertaining season that promises even more drama and thrills in the future.”

At the turn of the century, a little tv show called Desperate Housewives changed the television landscape forever as it followed several gorgeous, successful, witty women who were involved in criminal activities. That show became a cultural phenomenon that spawned tons of primetime shows after it including Big Little Lies on HBO. Netflix struck gold with its own brand in that female-led comedy-drama in Dead to Me, starring Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini as two new friends who get caught in a very sticky situation.

It’s a brilliantly affecting series that has a perfect balance of hilarious comedy and emotional moments that are earned every step of the way and conjure up deep feelings to let close ones simply know how much they’re loved. LOVE WEDDING REPEAT – Netflix Review!

by Gumbercules9000 on Apr 11th, 2020

“Love Wedding Repeat is a film about a wild day at a wedding full of British humor, love, and plenty of dick jokes.”

It’s spring-time again and romance is in the air in many forms. Netflix is working overtime in this current lock-down and has released another invite to the romantic comedy genre with Love Wedding Repeat, starring Sam Claflin and Olivia Munn. In a sea of uncertainty in the real world, it’s always nice to see something witty, charming, if not a bit predictable in this new film about a wild day at a wedding full of British humor, love, and plenty of dick jokes.

THE INNOCENCE FILES – Netflix Review!

by Gumbercules9000 on Apr 7th, 2020

“I hope that people will take to The Innocence Files for so many reasons.”

If you’ve noticed an uptick in documentaries about the wrongfully convicted, you aren’t alone. It could be that it’s a hot topic, or that celebrities have jumped on the bandwagon, or possibly, just maybe, because there are more innocent people in prison then we are willing to admit. As organizations like The Innocence Project continue to exonerate people it becomes harder and harder to turn a blind eye to this topic. With that comes media coverage, and now, the wrongfully convicted have made their way to the holy grail of streaming services: Netflix. The Innocence Files premieres on April 15th amid a national quarantine and I couldn’t be more excited about it. I stopped watching Tiger King, Love is Blind and Ozark and binged nine episodes over three days. These are admittedly hard to watch, but for anyone working in criminal justice, this is the same song, different verse. I hope that people will take to this series for so many reasons, but here are my major selling points.

OZARK SEASON 3 – Netflix Review!

by Gumbercules9000 on Mar 23rd, 2020

“Ozark: Season Three is the best yet.”

The Byrdes are deeper in debt to many other criminals in season three of Netflix’s hit show Ozark. Series creators Bill Dubuque, Mark Williams, and showrunner Chris Mundy have built a sinister world in the midwest vacation hotspot over the past two seasons where jet skiing, water sports, and enjoying family-friendly activities are the normal part of life. In Ozark, the deep seedy underbelly is exposed to murder, drug running, the mafia, the cartel, and more that is as brutal and violent as Scarface. Season three enhances all elements as the Byrde family deals with a multitude of horrific situations in this stellar and super suspenseful ten new episodes.

“Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem, and Madness one of the best and strangest documentaries to ever be filmed.”

Netflix has unleashed the wildest, most untamed documentary series to date with Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem, and Madness that defies all logic, constraint, and humanity. It’s one of the best and strangest documentaries to ever be filmed and has enough deranged and bizarre characters and real-life stories to fill 100 hours of screen time. The filmmakers behind this series Eric Goode and Rebecca Chaiklin said it best, “It was sorta funny when we started, but it’s gotten really dark.” And that is saying it lightly because what is shown on film is so intense and otherwordly, that it’s unbelievable, however, it all happened. Goode and Chaiklin recorded everything.

The world is fascinated with celebrity gossip both in film and sports. You can’t turn a page or watch a show without someone talking about these famous people’s personal lives. Within this culture, there is bound to be criminal activity and as we’ve seen with the entertainment industry and sports, there are quite a few nasty stories of prominent figures abusing and murdering people. I can point to O.J. Simpson as the classic tale of this situation, but we all know how that ended up. No, it’s with former NFL player Aaron Hernandez that takes the cake as it seems like no other prominent figure in sports had this much trouble and fell from a lucrative career as much as he did. Thanks to Netflix, we now have the fantastic three-episode true-crime documentary series Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron of Hernandez to give us more insight into what happened.

Netflix is Raising Prices Again!

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 5th, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

Netflix has a spending problem and we the customers are paying for it. #Bullshit The price of the most popular plan, which is the streaming plan that is normally $9.99. Prices are going up 10%, which is only a dollar a month, making it $10.99 now. I’d be okay with this, but nothing is happening to warrant this other than that the shit-heads at Netflix are selling the farm for more content.
