‘Fighting With My Family’ – Film Review!

by Gumbercules9000 on Feb 20th, 2019

“‘Fighting With My Family’ dare I say it, is my favorite film of the year so far.”

Pro-wrestling is a way of life and an escape into another universe of fun characters and storylines where it allows us to put aside real-world thoughts for a few hours and enjoy some high octane entertainment from some of the world’s best athletes and entertainers. Most of us at least one point in our lives have watched a pro-wrestling match and still vividly remember the match to a tee and who competed. After Stephen Merchant’s latest directorial effort ‘Fighting With My Family‘, you will forever remember the name Paige, a real-life woman who started wrestling at the age of 8 in England with her entire family of wrestlers, where at the age of 18, was signed to WWE and won the Women’s Championship Title, making her the youngest ever to accomplish that feat.

“The third installment caps off an incredible franchise with the most emotionally resonant chapter that gives all involved a fitting end.”

The How To Train Your Dragon trilogy has always rivaled Pixar movies for me. The animation is great, the voice acting is top-notch, the story and themes are full realized, and the emotional beats are earned. The third installment caps off an incredible franchise with the most emotionally resonant chapter that gives all involved a fitting end.

Film Review: ‘Happy Death Day 2U’!!

by Janet White on Feb 12th, 2019

Hello Everyone, Janet W. here…

Snoring, and probably some drooling, too, opens and continues the Happy Death Day series with Happy Death Day 2U.  Is it Tree Gelbman (Jessica Rothe), a troubled college student, doomed to repeat her birthday (death day) over and over?  No, it is Ryan Phan (Phi Vu), the stranded roommate of Carter Davis (Israel Broussard).  Ryan heads to his room where he meets Tree and Carter with the same awkward question, “Dude, did you hit that fine vagina or wha…?”  Read the rest of this entry »

Film Review: ‘What Men Want’!!

by Janet White on Feb 8th, 2019

Hello Everyone, Janet W. here…

It has been said that men are from Mars and women are from Venus.  The meaning behind this idiom is that men and women are so different that communication between the two is doomed to fail.  The truth is that men and women consistently get in their own way when it comes to romance, however; that is a different conversation. (wink)   Ali Davis (Taraji P. Henson) is power without a couple.  She’s strong, determined, intelligent, and fierce in both beauty and business acumen.  Despite her many talents and skills, Ali is repeatedly passed over for a promotion to partner in her sports management firm.  Her boss, Nick Ivers (Mr. Stone Cold Himself, Brian Bosworth, still pretty hot), claims that Ali cannot relate to men.  Well, a visit with Sister the psychic (Dallas’ own Erykah Badu), a bottle of tequila, and a stage floor, and Ali becomes the translator that hears all.

To Dust: Film Review!

by Gumbercules9000 on Feb 7th, 2019

It’s easy to see why ‘To Dust‘ won the big Audience Award at the Tribeca Film Festival. This oddball comedy has a unique charm and magical friendship that you wouldn’t see coming if it was right under your nose to go along with its morbid curiosity about death and grieving. First time feature film director Shawn Snyder takes his script to some gnarly places, but he has some fun with it in a light-hearted and innocent kind of way that stars Géza Röhrig (Saul from ‘Son of Saul’) and Ferris Bueller himself Matthew Broderick. You can see why these two phenomenal actors were drawn to this film and why three major actors helped produce the film, including Emily Mortimer, Alessandro Nivola, and Ron Pearlman.

The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part: Film Review!

by Gumbercules9000 on Feb 7th, 2019

Inclusiveness has become popular and profitable for both retailers and manufactures in the last few years. Our products, hobbies and now even movies are less gender specific – thanks to a more broad-minded culture. In ‘Lego Movie 2: The Second Part,’ the latest addition to build on the LEGO universe, we’re introduced to this growing ideal through a spectrum of sparkly new toys. If audiences can look past the glitter bombs of goofiness and that shamelessly uninspired title, admirable lessons can be found in the importance of imagination, as well as in the relationships between friends and siblings.

The Prodigy: Film Review!

by Gumbercules9000 on Feb 7th, 2019

The Prodigy is an early-in-the-year horror film that checks most of the boxes of the horror genre while at the same time, showing us something fresh with a possibility of something much larger in scope. Which ever the case is, this film is very promising and I hope there is a sequel of some sort down the line, because this is an avenue of horror that needs to be explored.
