Film Review: ‘Woman in Gold’!!
Janet W., Here…
The Piano. Schindler’s List. I have seen films about the Holocaust and the invasion of countries by the Nazi regime. Along comes Woman in Gold a true story about one woman’s fight against Nazi-sympathizing Austria. Mrs. Maria Altmann (Helen Mirren) loses her sister and within her sister’s belongings finds a postcard of Gustav Klimt’s “Woman in Gold” painting. Shortly after this find, Austria announces their intent to restore stolen artwork to their rightful owners namely the Jewish families who were robbed by the Nazis when they invaded Austria. Randy (Ryan Reynolds) is a down on his luck attorney who failed at his solo practice.

Film Review: ‘Human Capital’!!
Paul N., Here…
What do a hit-and-run, a risky business venture, and several unlikely romantic pairings all have in common? They are each part of a masterfully interlocking plot that hints at the motives and aspirations of the characters behind them, as well as the far-reaching consequences of the daily choices people make.
Film Review: ‘Kingsman: The Secret Service’!!
Hi everyone, Bryan Here….
I can officially say that the first AWESOME, kick-ass movie of 2015 is finally here, which is ‘Kingsman: The Secret Service‘. Based on Mark Millar’s (Kick-Ass) comic book, director Matthew Vaughn (Kick-Ass, Layer Cake, Snatch) has once again delivered the goods and high entertainment value with an homage to spy films, particularly the ‘James Bond‘ franchise. So what’s that mean? It means the guy who made ‘Kick-Ass‘ and produced ‘Snatch‘, made his own version of ‘James Bond‘, and it’s as violent and gory and funny as his other films I mentioned.
Pee-Wee Herman Is Coming Back To Big Screens in 2015!!!
Hey guys, Jana here,
Looking back at growing up in the 80’s made me realize just how surreal the whole experience really was. In remembering my childhood, there are several things that stand out more than others, Cabbage Patch Kids, Aquanet , ‘New Kids On The Block‘, cereal that had no redeeming nutritional value whatsoever besides being easy enough for a kid to serve themselves while parents slept in on Saturday mornings, and a lineup of cartoons that kept us occupied while we slowly reached sugar-induced coma levels of happiness. That’s right, Saturday morning telly was geared toward kids. I had roughly 3 channels that broadcast what came to be the soundtrack to my childhood and some of my best memories. Every remote jockey, i.e. the oldest sibling, had the channel jump down to an art form in order to ensure that we made it to the right channel at the right time to catch the personalized lineup of cartoons that took us weeks to master. I didn’t want to wake up to go to school, but you better believe I was up at 6:30am so that I wouldn’t miss the beginning of my favorite day of television.
‘Aquaman’ Film Gains Two New Writers!!!
Hey guys, Jana here,
Recently Announced ‘Aquaman‘ movie gains two separate scripts. Will Beall (‘Gangster Squad‘) and Kurt Johnstad (‘300: Rise of an Empire‘) have signed on two pen completely individual scripts. This is a truly ingenious way to achieve the same ends – Having a successful film.
With the lack of popularity for Aquaman among comic book nerds who can find reasons to love the most ridiculous of characters, making a film on the superhero would seem like an uphill battle the second the idea came to them. So how do you make an absolutely awesome film on Aquaman, the butt of the joke for even the most ardent of comic book afficionados? You realize that the first attempt is not going to live up to the dream, immediately. How do you move forward once you know that? You take the development process and dual track everything. The thought process being that if the two writers work on scripts on their own, the studio can then take the best points from each film and put them together in one super-film.
Hillary’s Review of ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’!!
Hillary T. Here…
In all fairness, I thought this movie was gonna suck. I couldn’t even remember the villain in the first film and even though I liked Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/ Spider-Man, I didn’t think he could save this movie. The reason is that there are three major villains billed for this sequel, and as time as shown in the past, that is a lot for a movie to take on. Needless to say, it’s heavy handed for sure.
Film Review: ‘The Bag Man’!!
Jana B. here,
I really wanted to like ‘The Bag Man‘, I did. I love Robert De Niro. I love John Cusack. How could this not be an awesome movie? It started out really promising. The opening scene jumped right into the plot. No excessive build-up, no slow start, just right there. Boom! On first impressions I was already bored of hearing about the bloody bag but I was intrigued, too. I want to know what’s in the bag but I’m also trying to figure out who decided to outfit De Niro and Cusack with the most ridiculous eye-wear known to man. De Niro’s begin to grow on you, but there is no way I could ever take Cusack seriously in those hideous specs.
Philip Seymour Hoffman 1967-2014!!
Hi, Bryan Here….
I still can’t believe I am writing this article. I’m in complete shock. I am upset, angry, and confused. How can stuff like this still happen, especially to people who have a means to get better. Drugs and addiction is a terrible thing. A terrible-terrible thing. And eventually, they took the life of one of the greatest actors ever to grace the big screen. I hate to write that actor Philip Seymour Hoffman has passed away earlier this Sunday of a heroine drug overdose.
The New ‘Pee-Wee Herman’ Movie Is Happening!!!
Hi, Bryan Here….
Paul Reubens or better known as Pee-Wee Herman had some exciting news today. Though it’s only a tease, a big announcement is coming sooner than later. Reubens, who can be heard in ‘Smurfs 2‘ talked a little bit about that film and his upcoming Pee-Wee projects. We’ve talked about potential Pee-Wee projects before on the site, but this time it seems like they are finally happening and in the near future.
Jeff Goldblum and Bill Pullman Will Be Returning For ‘Independence Day 2’!!!
Hi, Bryan Here….
Director Roland Emmerich has been talking to masses these last few days on his sequel to ‘Independence Day‘. A couple of days ago, he said that Will Smith won’t be returning as the lead as he is too expensive, but he is trying to work out a del with him for a small cameo role. However, he did say today when talking to movie.com, Bill Pullman and Jeff Goldblum would be back in their respective roles.
Taylor Reviews ‘Think Like A Man’!!
Taylor Here….
I fully expected Think Like a Man to be Tyler Perry’s He’s Just Not That Into Your Diary of a Mad Black Woman (I’m singing “Everyone’s a Little Bit Racist” to myself right now). I was pleasantly surprised that, while this film certainly didn’t blaze any trails, it was entertaining, well acted, and all in all a fun night at the movies.
Bryan Reviews Neil Gaiman’s ‘Neverwhere’ 15th Anniversary!!! (A DVD Review)
Hi Bryan Here…..
Has it been 15 years already? Wow. BBC is re-releasing one of Neil Gaiman’s celebrated works on DVD for its 15the anniversary. I am of course talking about Neverwhere. What is Neverwhere you ask? Well, if you don’t know, then you need to buck up and get off your ass and go out and read and watch this fantastic story. Neverwhere is the pretty much unseen darker “nether” world underground London. This most excellent DVD comes with new extras and surprises for any Neverwhere and Gaiman fan. It rocked my socks clear off.
