Hi Bryan Here….

Word just in, negotiations have just concluded in that actor Ashton Kutcher will return to television and replace Charlie Sheen on the hit show “Two and Half Men”.  Kutcher has been doing feature films lately, but I guess series creators and execs have finally made a deal that will return the former “That 70’s Show” star back to the small screen.

Written by: Bryan Kluger…..

The world of pro-wrestling has been around for many years and has certainly seen its ups and downs, most noticeably being the WWE. There have been many promotions through the decades, which have made a lot of people very successful and it continues to this day. At some point down the road though, there was one company that surpassed everyone by leaps and bounds and brought the pro-wrestling arena into the mainstream. Of course I’m talking about World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), or the artist formally known as World Wrestling Federation (WWF) in its teenage angst years. For a long while, there were two major companies that featured the best of the best in the pro-wrestling world. WWE and WCW. They didn’t play well together at all on and off screen.

Film Review #2: ‘Beauty and the Beast’ (2017)!

by Gumbercules9000 on Mar 14th, 2017

Dan M., here….

landscape-1478512906-beauty-and-the-beast-movie

Disney’s Beauty and the Beast (1991) is in the top 2 Disney animated movies of all-time. I’ll only allow The Lion King, which has a live action version due in 2019 or 2020, to be ranked ahead of it. This isn’t a debate. These are facts. Beauty and the Beast (animated) is a masterpiece from songs to characters, which is why I loved that this new live-action movie stayed so true to the animated version. It was an extremely enjoyable two hours with some really great moments and I look forward to seeing it again.

Kevin Smith is everywhere these days. He’s making movies with food that wants to kill you, podcasting in multiple cities, selling his comic books at his retail stores, and even conducting interviews for IMDB at film festivals. “The guy is like MacGyver. No, motherfucker’s better than MacGyver.” Since his last film ‘Yoga Hosers‘, Smith has been making some DC television series on top of teasing us with stories of a ‘Clerks III‘ film and a ‘Mallrats‘ sequel series, both of which I would have sold my Michael Jackson statue to see.

Joss Whedon comes back to direct the Avengers one more time in “Avengers: Age of Ultron.”  This is undoubtedly the most action packed film to date from the Marvel universe.  From the very first frame, it is nearly two and a half hours of epic battles with your favorite superheroes.  Now, it may be true that some character development screen time has been sacrificed to bring the gloriously orchestrated fighting that graces the screen; however, you have been getting to know these characters for the better part of seven years now.  The public demands to see the Avengers in action, and Whedon serves it up on a silver platter!

Hello ladies! Look at your man, now back to me – whoops, sorry about that. As you know, it’s Valentine’s Day once again. And as this overly-commercialized excuse for a holiday rears its ugly head, we take a reflective look back at our lives and at the choices we’ve made concerning our relationships. Some of you will realize that maybe the gap-toothed ex-con biker named “Bubba” might not have been the best choice for a mate (“but he’s a real sweetheart once you get to know him!”). Unfortunately, now you’re “in like Flynn” with his whole clique, and before you know it, you’re drinking homemade moonshine with the rest of his recently released buddies in the middle of backwoods nowhere (if you hear banjos – run). That isn’t to say that everyone makes bad decisions. Some women seem to have a gift for finding the right people to surround themselves with – or have a real knack for how to handle the bad apples that come along – and that can make all the difference between a smooth sailing adventure and a total train wreck experience.

‘Ant-Man’ Begins Production and Fills Out Cast!!!

Today marks the beginning of filming for Marvel’s ‘Ant-Man’. It has been a winding road getting to this point though. There has been a change in director and the loss of 3 cast-members due to scheduling issues because of delays. Some of us probably thought it would be a miracle of Marvel proportions if it were to ever make it to the big screen. Some of the reason for doubt stems from the fact that original director Edgar Wright had been working on bringing the 2D superhero to life since 2006 with very limited success.

moodindigo-header

The great Wizard of Oz once said “pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.” Like that tale of wonder, Mood Indigo attempts to transport the viewer to a land somewhere over the rainbow. The viewer is urged to pay attention to the smoke and mirrors of silly, sometimes stunning, visuals to hide the fact that there isn’t much else to see. Indigo lacks the same charm or sense of purpose as Oz; instead of magical storytelling, the viewer gets slapstick farce.

If you’re looking for a successful name in the industry, look no further than Jay Roach. He began his directing career in 1990 and has been a top name for comedy since then. He is the man responsible for the three ‘Austin Powers‘ films, ‘Meet the Parents‘ and my favorite, ‘Meet the Fockers‘. In 2008 Roach began a working relationship with HBO with the movie ‘Recount‘, the film got into the details of the aftermath of the 2000 U.S. presidential election between Al Gore and George W. Bush, which led to Roach winning two Emmy’s and resulted in another Emmy-winning HBO movie, ‘Game Change‘. Roach may have moved away from the election debacle, but a new partner of his is still rather close to it.

Film Review: ‘Monuments Men’!!

Hi, Bryan Here…

George Clooney has had an amazing track record of films he has been in and directed. From ‘Good Night and Good Luck’ to ‘From Dusk Till Dawn‘, the brilliant man seems to know what he is doing. Clooney is also no stranger to war movies, as he has been involved in several different war films, but he has yet to direct one up until now with ‘Monuments Men‘. Sure, you can argue that ‘Monuments Men’ isn’t a “war film”, but rather more of an art heist movie, but I would argue against that.

Showtime Announces Two New Series!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Jan 16th, 2014

I love watching premium network series. It started with ‘The Sopranos‘. I was absolutely fascinated by how many times they cursed, how much violence it showed, and don’t forget all the T&A in the sex scenes! I should also include the story line arcs that I never wanted to end, as well. I just couldn’t believe this wasn’t a stand alone movie, but a series I got to watch every week! As time went by I had my attention divided to include ‘Big Love‘, ‘Weeds‘, ‘Nurse Jackie‘, ‘Dexter‘….and on and on and on. So I’m excited about Showtime’s announcement of two new series that have been picked up.

Film Review: Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom’

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 16th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here….

la-et-mn-nelson-mandela-movie-release-date-201-001

There have been numerous films, television programs, and documentaries that have discussed the life of Nelson Mandela. Not too mention the treasure trove of books, biographies, and interviews you can read and watch detailing his beliefs and politics. And Justin Chadwick’s narrative film ‘Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom‘ is yet another addition to the ever expanding universe of Mandela. Adapted by William Nicholson from Mandela’s autobiography of the same name, this two and a half hour film seems like a long slow walk indeed, with too much to cover and some cheese sprinkled here and there. Although actor Idris Elba’s performance of Mandela is one of the best I’ve ever seen, this long walk could have been better.

Film Review: ‘Oz: The Great and Powerful’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Mar 6th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here….

url

A more fitting title for this would have been ‘Oz the Modest and Ineffective’. I have no doubt that this prequel will make tons of money the next two weekends at the box office, although it doesn’t deserve it. Even though you have an all-star cast, an amazing director, and top notch talent around the board, it doesn’t necessarily mean you have quality film in the can. On the contrary, it seems like every bit of life, joy, and entertainment was taken away early on, never to return. This prequel to the iconic and incredible 1939 film might be the top miscast film ever put on screen, and that’s only the beginning.

Seductive, fearless and outrageous, Marina Abramović has been redefining the meaning of art for nearly 40 years. Using her own body as a vehicle, pushing herself beyond her limits, and at times risking her physical safety, she creates performances that challenge, shock and move. From first-time director Matthew Akers, MARINA ABRAMOVIĆ THE ARTIST IS PRESENT follows “the grandmother of performance art” as she prepares for a major retrospective of her work at Manhattan’s Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in 2010, highlighted by a new exhibit that is breathtaking in its simplicity: two chairs facing each other, with Abramović sitting in one and audience members taking turns sitting in the other, gazing into each other’s eyes in silence. In true Abramović style, she remains in the chair for seven and a half hours each day – every day the museum is open for three months – without eating, drinking or moving, a feat of mental and physical endurance that is challenging even for a veteran of such performances.

Bryan Reviews ‘Men In Black 3’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on May 23rd, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

I was very apprehensive about seeing the third installment of ‘Men In Black’.  I really loved the first film back in 1997.  I was sixteen at the time and remembered how much fun the original film was and what magical characters and comedy it brought audiences worldwide.  Then came the second installment of Men In Black in 2002 which was dull, boring, dialed in, and lacked any real good memories or fun.  I thought that the franchise was done.  That is until I saw ‘Men In Black 3’.   ‘Men In Black 3’ easily makes us remember what we loved about the original film and brings back those elements and even improves on them.  I can see future  ‘Men In Black’ films in the future if they keep this good work up.

Warner Bros. has released the first half of the second season of ‘Batman: Brave and the Bold’ and it does not disappoint.  The official synopsis reads: “Batman wings into an exciting new era, teaming with a mighty honor roll of DC Comics Super Heroes in this action-packed series. Through the show’s season two 12 Animated Adventures in this 2-Disc Collection, the Dark Knight allies with Aquaman, Plastic Man, Blue Beetle, Red Tornado, Green Arrow, Wildcat, Deadman, Bronze Tiger and Atom to take on an array of evildoers ranging from mad scientists to intergalactic crooks, from power-mad dictators to out-of-control teenagers.”  This is one hell of a fun Batman Animated series and should be seen and purchased.

Charlie Sheen and Lionsgate have made a deal to bring the ‘Anger Management’ to television with Sheen set to star.  ‘Anger Management’ is based on the 2003 Adam Sandler/Jack Nicholson comedy.  In Sheen’s deal, he will own a considerable stake in the show.  The show will follow a “mild-mannered, non-confrontational man who is ordered to attend group anger management sessions led by a therapist who could probably use some anger management himself.”

Hi Bryan Here….

I am so delighted to be seeing this on DVD for the first time.  I love watching old cartoons from the 60’s.  And ‘Frankenstein Jr. and the Impossibles’ was so much fun.  There were only two seasons with less than 20 episodes in all, but the rock music/action hero cartoon packed each episode with tons of great fun.  It reminds me of ‘Fraggle Rock’ meets ‘Partridge Family’ in the vein of Hanna-Barbera.  This cartoon series also made for some of the most bizarre animated sequences I might have ever seen.  I witnessed a giraffe running upright on two legs with a gun and jumps into an art easel to disappear.  No, I was not on that acid you gave me last year.  Just loads of Dr. Pepper.

Shrek Gets The Bluray Treatment

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 9th, 2010

All four Shrek films will arrive on Blu-Ray on the same day this year and just in time for the holidays.  The plans are to release the three previous Shrek films on the same day the 4th installment, “Shrek Forever After” on December 7th.  Shrek: The Whole Story Box Set will be available on Bluray and DVD.  Most, if not all of the previous extras on the DVD versions will be carried over to the blu-ray, plus some new ones including an all-new short called  “Donkey’s Christmas Shrektacular”.   In addition to the box set the 4th installment, “Shrek Forever After” will be available by itself in a combo pack including the blu-ray & dvd.

No word yet on if the previous films will be released by themselves.

I hope they are.  It makes me “HULK” mad when studios do this kind of thing.  If you have a trilogy or tv show, and you haven’t released the films on blu-ray yet, and the final film or show in your franchise is getting the blu-ray treatment, and the only way to get the previous entertainment on bluray is in  a box set, then you are going to lose sales and piss people off.

For instance, this Shrek franchise.  The first two films were great.  I would gladly shell out some money for those two in HD.  But, not for the third one.  The 3rd film was phoned in and half-assed and I do NOT want any part of it.  So the only way I can get my previous Shrek films is by purchasing the entire collection, then FUCK YOU studios.

You already did it with the Spider-Man trilogy.  I have not met a single soul that has enjoyed the third Spidey film.  But the only way I can get a copy of the first two films (which are EXCELLENT) is for me to purchase all three films in the set.  You also did it with the Fraggle Rock tv series by releasing the last season only in a box box set of all seasons.  You also did that with the Lord of the Rings trilogy bluray.  You only released them in a set.

Now I know you always eventually release them individually, but the Spider-Man series has been out for a few years and on ly now is it finally being released individually.

So please studios, release the Shrek films individually in addition to the box set.

More info and box art to come shortly.

by Red Zeppelbon on Nov 8th, 2016

Hey guys, Jana here,

It’s likely your friends fall into one of two categories – those who love ‘The Big Bang Theory‘ and those who hate TBBT. Granted, this show is not quite as polarizing as ‘Two and a Half Men‘, but I know there are some people I can hear rolling their eyes right now thinking of these shows. So this next bit of info will be exciting for some of you and could possibly make others’ eyes roll right out of their heads. Warner Bros. TV and CBS is looking into a prequel series in the works based on Sheldon Cooper before he shows up at Cal Tech in the current chapter of his life.

Hi, Bryan Here….

Below is the list of the winners for the 2012 Prime-Time Emmy Award Winners.  I don’t  see how ‘Modern Family’ and ‘Two and Half Men’ win anything.  They shouldn’t win any kind of award when they go up against shows like ‘Mad Men’, ‘Game of Thrones’, and ‘Breaking Bad’.  The Emmy judges need to be fired and never allowed to pick winners ever again.  However, much congratulations to ‘Homeland’, ‘Downton Abbey’, Aaron Paul, ‘Veep’, and ‘American Horror Story’

Film Review: ‘Thor: Ragnarok’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 31st, 2017

Thor is starring in his third stand-alone film called ‘Thor: Ragnarok‘ and brings a much needed change to the character in the best possibly way. Thor now has a fun personality and great comedic timing, mostly due to Chris Hemsworth amazing acting chops here. In addition to that, the film is steeped in a hypnotic, yet hyper-active color scheme that looks like Willy Wonka and Andy Warhol got together and decorated a city. In fact, Wonka’s theme ‘Pure Imagination’ is a song that plays in the film. It’s not all cold and stiff dialogue here anymore with brown or earth toned aliens and robots that Thor has to use his hammer to fight. Everyone and everything is covered in bright primary and pastel colors that creates a breath of fresh air in this stale universe. That’s all thanks to filmmaker Taika Waititi for giving his unique vision on this big budget film ($180 million). In previous Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, particularly with Thor, things have been sour and gloomy.

The Ryan Gosling Jacket Investigation!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 13th, 2017

Written By: Dan Moran….

There have been tweets and style articles written about Ryan Gosling’s jackets over the past year, but after seeing Blade Runner 2049 last night, are we sure he’s ever read a script? Would it really be so ridiculous to assume that almost every role that Ryan Gosling has ever played was based on his agent just laying two jackets out and Ryan deciding which one was better? More importantly, is Ryan Gosling even a good actor? Are we sure his jackets aren’t giving him this power?

An investigation has been opened.

Film Review: ‘The Mountain Between Us’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 29th, 2017

Rebecca S., here….

In modern terms, a unicorn is a sought after item of idea that you can never have; a fabled creature and impossible to capture. The perfect date night movie is the unicorn of our times. Speaking in stereotypes, men are said to want comedy, death defying action-adventure, and it would be great if someone got shot or maimed. Women are said to want lighthearted flirting, sincere laughter and a beautiful backdrop in which a woman is swept off of her feet by a gorgeous man. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you The Mountain Between Us. The answer to your date night woes. A unicorn.

The Munsters are Getting a Reboot!

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 10th, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here…

Does no production company or tv network have any original ideas anymore? When will these studios and networks take a chance on something new? Ugh. This new take will be a half-hour single camera show, which is now in full gear, and will follow the family in a hip area of Brooklyn, trying to fit in.

WWE: Money in the Bank 2017 Predictions!

Strung 20 feet high over the center of squared circle, there hangs a metal briefcase with a contract inside. On July 18th in 2010, WWE held their first ever Money in the Bank PPV held in Kansas City, which was met with an abundant amount of praise. The WWE superstars must climb a very tall ladder and unhook the briefcase to win the match. There are no rules, no disqualifications, and all weapons and interferences are legal.

Dan M. Gives His Thoughts on ‘Fate of the Furious’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Apr 16th, 2017

Dan M., here….

fate-of-the-gurious-952x563

Fast & Furious: Civil War

(Feel free so scroll to the bottom if you’re here to talk Jason Statham.)

After the death of Paul Walker and the 7th film there has been lots of speculation as to where the Fast & Furious franchise would go and the 8th movie definitively answers that question: Anywhere it damn well pleases. By the end of The Fate of the Furious, the loudest, most insane, and dumbest (in a good way) entry in the series, the stage is set for 100 more of these films and I’d sign up for 99 of them. While many franchises are working as hard as they can to justify spinoffs and team up films, the Fast & Furious put itself in a position to justify a number of spinoffs. As a film universe goes, Fast & Furious is behind only Marvel.

Top 10 Ryan Gosling Scenes in Movies!

by Gumbercules9000 on Mar 17th, 2017

Audrey E., here….

Screen Shot 2017-03-17 at 9.59.40 AM

Ryan Gosling is a true patron for the arts. Proof of this can not only be found in his selective partaking in films with telling characters, but also in his accomplished side projects. There’s his under-appreciated dark wave and gothic indie band, Dead Man’s Bones, and we can’t forget his courageous 2014 directorial debut in the fantasy drama, Lost River. He’s come a long way from his humble beginnings as a Mouseketeer on The All New Mickey Mouse Club, and despite the pressure from Hollywood to keep up appearances, Ryan concentrates on staying true to himself and what matters most: his art. Today I’ve put together a list of my Top 10 favorite Ryan Gosling performances in film and why this talented Canadian, a true 21st century James Dean, is more than meets the eye.

THE FILM

Moana‘ is the latest animated film from Disney, releasing a few months after their big hit ‘Zootopia’. No matter what film Disney releases, the usual messages and tone are consistent in every film. However, Disney magically manages to make each film feel very fresh, unique, and original with excellent characters, animation, and story lines that not only captivate me with each film, but to the masses as well. ‘Moana’ is no different here, as it looks visually stunning, as well as have an top notch story with excellent voice talent and songs.

Film Review #2: ‘Logan’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Mar 3rd, 2017

Dan M., here….

thumbnail_25047

Even when the dust settles and recency bias fades, I can’t imagine LOGAN not being considered one of the greatest superhero films of all time. For me, LOGAN is in the same class as Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Spider-Man 1-2, Iron Man, Reeve’s Superman, Burton’s Batman, etc. I believe all of those comic films work as films and stories first, comic fun second. There are plenty of “fun” comic movies I thoroughly enjoy and love but I wouldn’t classify them as well-crafted films. LOGAN is a great story and character arc first and comic fun second. It just works on every level.

Favorite WWE Matches of 2016!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 31st, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan here…

screen-shot-2016-12-31-at-4-38-29-pm

Yes, there were a list of movies that tickled my fancy and made me laugh, cry, and be scared so badly that I had to sleep with the lights on. That list is HERE for your enjoyment. Moving on from that, if you have ever met me or have perused this site, you would know that I like a bit of the ole Pro-Wrestling just a smidgen. So it wouldn’t ben an end-of-year celebrations without trying to show you or convince you that Pro-Wrestling is the BEST thing in the universe. After all, ‘Wrestling is Everything is Everything’.

This is one of the most fun and highest forms of entertainment on the planet and a lot of the time when I’m at screenings, I wish I were watching some good ole fashioned wrestling matches. I don’t know why, but it must be in my blood. The below matches are for sure my favorite from the WWE company strictly. If I were to do an all encompassing pro-wrestling list, I would be writing this for the next two weeks and “ain’t nobody got time for that.” So I’ll leave the ‘Wrestle Circus‘, ‘VIP Wrestling‘, ‘NJPW‘, ‘ROH‘, ‘PWG‘, and ‘Evolve‘ for another post, although I think Jervis Cottonbelly and Joey Ryan (The King of Dong Style) deserve some recognition as perhaps some of the best talent in the wrestling business. Seriously, look them up.

Also, at the very bottom of this list, I will place a non-WWE match, which is one of the best matches I’ve ever seen in Pro-Wrestling, and it deserves it’s own place and category, because it’s that hardcore, fun, and insane. I highly suggest you give these matches that are listed below a real chance. You’ll see the storyline that is being told in the squared circle, the amount of high voltage entertainment and athleticism that goes on each and every night here. You will certainly enjoy it.

WWE: TLC 2016 in Dallas!

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 5th, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan here…

205_tlc_12042016ej_4165-7db86e24eda82a9d788ce93bac3a469e-1200x675

WWE has just finished its 8th TLC pay-per-view right here in Dallas, TX. No, TLC does not mean Tender Loving Care or even the R&B group from the 90s. It stands for Tables-Ladders-Chairs and is considered the “hardcore” PPV of the year for WWE. This was a Smackdown Live brand PPV event where every championship title was on the line. Between chair matches, ladder matches, table matches, and an all-encompassing TLC match to end the night, it’s no doubt that each and every superstar will be sore for next few days after all of their bodies were flung into these steel and wooden pieces of furniture. The event took place at American Airlines Center in Dallas, TX to a big crowd, however it was far from a sell-out. That didn’t stop the crowd from cheering and booing their favorite superstars at all, even though it wasn’t as crazy a crowd as ‘Wrestlemania 32‘.

Blu-ray Review: ‘Central Intelligence’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 19th, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan here…

91uemohyu7l-_sl1500_

THE FILM

What would a Summer-Movie-Season be without Kevin Hart and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson? This summer, the two team up in an action-comedy called ‘Central Intelligence‘, directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber (‘Dodgeball‘ and ‘We’re The Millers‘) and co-written by actor/writer Ike Barinholtz(‘Neighbors‘). With so many buddy-cop action comedies out there, it’s sometimes difficult to tell one of them from another. Sure, there are the greats like ‘Lethal Weapon‘, ‘Turner and Hooch‘, and ‘Tango and Cash‘, but what does modern day buddy-cop action comedies hold that the past films don’t? When relating this to ‘Central Intelligence‘, it seems like the filmmakers thought it would be a lot of fun to put these two personalities together and basically let them riff off each other for a couple of hours. Throw in a some guns and a half baked plot about world security and terror, along with a message about being bullied, and you have yourself ‘Central Intelligence‘.

Film Review: ‘Don’t Breathe’!

Hi everyone, Bryan here…

Stephen Lang stars in Screen Gems' horror-thriller DON'T BREATHE.

Fede Alvarez burst onto the scene a few years ago with his short film on YouTube called ‘Ataque de Pánico!‘ It was so well received and well done that a few weeks later, Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell, and Rob Tapert were calling him non-stop and even offered the Uruguayan filmmaker the chance to direct the remake of ‘The Evil Dead‘, which came out 2013 to rave reviews and fan appreciation for what it was. Since then, Fede has a few projects in the works coming up, as he is one of the top new filmmakers to watch in the horror genre.

Film Review: ‘The Secret Life of Pets’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jul 7th, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

The-Secret-Life-of-Pets-3

It seems like there are a wealth of animated talking animal movies these days. With Pixar, Disney, and DreamWorks releasing ‘Zootopia‘, ‘The Good Dinosaur‘, ‘Finding Dory‘ and ‘Kung Fu Panda 3‘ recently, it only seems fair that Universal dipped their hands into the sub-genre as well with ‘The Secret Life of Pets‘. Universal’s animation studio Illumination Entertainment brought us ‘Despicable Me‘ and those darn ‘Minions‘ to the big screen, which has made the entertainment business billions of dollars. It seems logical for the studio to cash in on the talking animal genre now, since everyone else is doing it, however with an already over-crowded market for these films, ‘The Secret Life of Pets‘ may fall short of beating out ‘Zootopia‘ and ‘Finding Dory‘ in both the financial and critical realms. I’m not saying that ‘The Secret Life of Pets‘ is a bad movie or anything. In fact there are some great moments that are funny and charming, but it loses itself in the second half of the film when it becomes an action-caper movie that becomes over-the-top and even drags in its short run time of less than 90 minutes.

Epic List Of The Top 10 Road Trip Flicks!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Jul 3rd, 2016

Hey guys, Jana here,

tumblr_nx5wmzgYvb1qewpgqo1_500

Summer means a lot to me, there’s baseball, which I waxed pretty poetic about in last week’s Top 10 Baseball Movies post. There’s fishing, the fourth of July, a multi-colored tongue from Otter Pops, and the all important road trip. Your trip can be a short jaunt to the lake or it can be a days long event that usually culminates in an epic destination – Wally World, anyone? Whether you trip on your own, with your friends or with your family, there’s something wonderful about having a full tank of gas, a stereo full of tunes and the open road in front of you. Depending on who you’re with it can either feel like a hostage situation or a relaxing break from the weekly drag. Most good road trips feel like a bit of both, not to mention the longing for the comfort that is your home toilet.

I’m gonna count down my top 10 movies that feature a road trip. Strap in, kick on the A/C and let the lull of the road below you relaxes your worries. This was not an easy list to winnow down to only 10 with a few honorable mentions. I left off the obvious ‘Thelma and Louise‘, they’re best friends, they kill someone and drive off a cliff. Yeah, I didn’t give you a spoiler alert there because if you haven’t seen this movie by now, you were never going to. Some road trip movies are better than others and we had differing opinions from each other making this list. So read along and tell me where we agree or disagree or what I’ve left out.

Film Review: ‘Central Intelligence’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 15th, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

centralintelligence620350

What would a Summer-Movie-Season be without Kevin Hart and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson? This summer, the two team up in an action-comedy called ‘Central Intelligence‘, directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber (‘Dodgeball‘ and ‘We’re The Millers‘) and co-written by actor/writer Ike Barinholtz (‘Neighbors‘).

Film Review: ‘WARCRAFT’!

Hillary T., Here….

_86585130_237c7440-7035-4683-b035-84383ce9ddbe

This movie stars a Viking, a Cylon, a Fatal Attraction, Howard Stark, a Tulip, and the Kurgan! In 2004, the MMORPG game ‘World of Warcraft‘ launched. It was so huge that it released five expansions, and a sixth on the way. Somewhere along the way, someone said, “Hey, let’s make a live-action movie of that.”

Film Review: ‘The Wailing’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 6th, 2016

Beka P., Here…

photo705930

I was prepared to say that “The Wailing” was the worst movie I had seen in a while, but I saw “The Lobster” today so never mind that. Once all was said and done with this two and a half hour Korean subtitled film, I actually didn’t hate it. Would I see it again? No. Do I wish I had my time back? Pretty much, yeah, but at the same time, this is the kind of film I would never choose to watch in the first place. So, with that caveat, if you are a fan of Hong-jin Na’s previous films (“The Chaser” and “The Yellow Sea”), or if you are into the exorcism/zombie suspense genre then by all means this film is probably for you.

dwayne-johnsonWhen Dwayne Johnson announces a new project I pay attention, when that project involves one of my favorite writer/directors Shane Black, I give it my undivided attention. The pair have come together for Sony Pictures’Doc Savage‘.

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

shane-jump

As I’m recovering from seven insane days of ‘Wrestlemania 32‘ in Dallas, TX., I’ve had time to reflect, contemplate, saturate, and regurgitate every I event I attended. I had my box of Booty O’s to make sure I wasn’t Booty thru the weekend, met some good people, watched some amazing matches, talked with some WWE Superstars, and lost my voice when Shane-O-Mac put his life on the line for the WWE Business. To quote a certain former WWE announcer, it was a slobberknocker of a week for sure that hit me in the solar plexus more times than I’d like to admit. WWE really did it up big this year for Wrestlemania 32. Not only did they put on several good shows, but they also broke records. There was over 101,000 people in attendance at AT&T Stadium for Wrestlemania 32, beating the previous record from Wrestlemania 3 by quite a bit. Not only that, ticket sales and merch sales were way up as well from previous years. It seems like WWE is growing exponentially with more and more fans tuning in every week. That’s a good thing. Instead of writing a recap of the entire weekend, I’ll give you some details of some of the cooler things I witnessed over the past week.

Film Review: ‘Divergent 3: Allegiant’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Mar 17th, 2016

Beka P., Here…

thumbnail_23581

DISCLAIMER: I have not read any of the ‘Divergent‘ books, nor have I seen any of the previous movies in the ‘Divergent‘ series, although you could read our reviews HERE and HERE, but with me, you’ll have a fresh take on the series. So now that we’ve gotten that out of the way… let’s get to the point, which is that this movie was completely ridiculous. ‘Allegiant‘ is the third installment in this young adult series and only covers half of the third novel, so do not expect to get all your “allegiance” (yes, I went there) out with this one flick. So what can you expect? Boy, oh, Boy! You can expect heavy CGI, a pretty terrible script, about 25 minutes more ‘Allegiant‘ than necessary, unanswered questions, and some eye candy.

Film Review: ‘Miracles from Heaven’!!

by Janet White on Mar 16th, 2016

Hello Everyone, Janet W. here…

Miracles from Heaven - Family

Miracles from Heaven opens in a beautiful richly colored forest and Christie Beam defining a miracle, an occurrence that “cannot be explained by natural or scientific laws.” Cut to a nice size farm and the interior of a rolling tire as a little girl is giggling and could there be a sweeter beginning. The Beam family has three girls: Abigail (Brighton Sharbino), Annabelle (Kylie Rogers), and Adelynn (Courtney Fansler) and two loving parents Christy (Jennifer Garner) and Kevin (Martin Henderson). Tragedy mysteriously strikes the middle child and thus begins the trial of this family’s strength, love, and faith.  Read the rest of this entry »

Hey guys, Jana here,

books_revival

Director Josh Boone, from ‘The Fault In Our Stars‘ is diving into the deep end for his next project. This could mean a few things in the world of film-making, I could be talking about his announced writing/directing gig for ‘X-Men: The New Mutants‘, but I’m not. I’m talking about not one, but two Stephen King adaptations Boone is taking on, with one of them being ‘The Stand‘. Crawl before you run, young padawan. Anyhow, the other adaptation is what’s in the news today, Boone is looking to make King’s 2014 book ‘Revival‘ the current project getting his attention.

‘Stretch Armstrong’ Series Coming to Netflix!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jan 28th, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

1D274907460659-stretch-armstrong-toy

How many Stretch Armstrong “accidents” did you get into when you were a kid? More than a dozen? Well, time to break out the old Stretch Armstrong toy again, because Netflix is making a television series, geared towards kids based on the popular toy. The series will be animated and premiere in 2017 with Hasbro Studios co-producing. This is one of man original shows that Netflix is producing for the small kid demographic, but I’m sure us “adults” will have to take a sneak peek at it as well, since we did grow up with these toys.

Movie Quotes

Fat Mancho:
You want a Rolls-Royce, you don't come here, no no. You go to England, or wherever the fuck they make it. If you want champagne, you go see the French. If you need money, you find a Jew. But, if you want dirt, or scum buried under a rock somewhere, or some secret nobody wants anybody to know about, there's only one place to go: right here, Hell's Kitchen. It is the lost and found of shit. They lose it and we find it. Forget about it, man.
