Aug/2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

Good news, everyone. The horror wizard John Carpenter is heading back to the genre with a new series for the SyFy network called Tales For A Halloween Night. Carpenter will executive produce the series and hopefully direct and write some of the episodes. The series is based off of Carpenter’s own horror anthology in graphic novel form. The search for writers, directors, and actors are currently in full force.

Hey guys, Jana here,

mario-van-peebles-net-worth-600x572

Syfy is getting a new series from partners Mario Van Peebles, through his new shingle MVPTV, and XLRator Media. The 13-episode order is for a series titled ‘Superstition‘. As the name suggests it’s a supernatural drama, and it’s set near the one city in America that is more attached to the supernatural than any others, New Orleans. MVP is set to write, direct and star in a few of the episodes. Joel Anderson Thompson (‘Battlestar Galactica‘) is on tap to serve as showrunner. The series won’t air until sometime in 2017.

‘Sharknado 4’ Is Coming To Syfy in July!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Mar 10th, 2016

Hey guys, Jana here,

145

Syfy is at it again and has decided that three Sharknados is simply not enough! ‘Sharknado 4‘ is coming and with it the results from the end of the third installment, ‘Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!’. Remember in July when Syfy gave us the option of “You decide if #AprilLives or #AprilDies”? Of course they were referring to April Wexler (Tara Reid).

‘Brave New World’ Going To Series For Syfy!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on May 6th, 2015

Hey guys, Jana here,

Product-66585-1.org

Syfy is digging their boots into their plans to re-invent themselves in the image of the channel’s origins by going back to offering quality sci-fi programming. More space opera, less sharks in tornadoes, hopefully they continue offering random former TV stars as sacrifice though, that’s entertaining as hell!

Zachary Levi Bringing ‘Geeks Who Drink’ To Syfy!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Apr 15th, 2015

Hey guys, Jana here,

article-2495752-1932334300000578-403_634x463

Syfy is working hard to re-brand themselves from the B-rated horror hack jobs they’re currently associated with back into the mecca for sci-fi fans. They’re still going to show films like ‘Sharknado‘ because who doesn’t want to watch that? Their effort at re-modeling the network sees new shows being given a green light that will draw in a wider crowd. In that vein, ‘Geeks Who Drink‘ is the latest addition to their roster.

Hey guys, Jana here,

3001_the_final_odyssey_a_p_0

On the back of Syfy’s announcement to propagate more typical sci-fi fare and get away from the kitschy ‘Sharknado‘-type offerings, the network is bringing ‘3001: The Final Odyssey‘ to miniseries. Arthur C. Clarke’s novel from 1997 of the same name will give the mini it’s basis.

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

sharknado-2-the-second-one-300x300

The Discovery Channel’sShark Week‘ 2014 is coming up soon, and since SyFy changed the entire Shark game last year with the incredible ‘Sharknado‘, they are jumping on the bandwagon with ‘Sharknado Week‘, which will show the first film, and premiere the sequel ‘Sharknado 2: The Second One‘, along with Roger Corman’s new film ‘Sharktopus vs. Pteracuda‘. I of course expect a few other amazing programs to be announced. But we do know that ‘Sharknado 2‘ will debut on July 30th, and the Corman film will air on July 26th. I can only imagine that Discovery is not too happy with this announcement, but hey, ‘Sharknado Week’  sounds pretty awesome!

Hello, Jana here,

 z-nation

If you’ve read my articles before, you know I am vehemently against cookie-cutter TV and movies. If the idea has been done, I can tolerate a few re-imaginings on it, but I need variety. Too much of the same topic and I tune out. This has been the way with the latest craze of zombies. I’ve seen zombies on everything. TV, movies, gun targets, video games, music videos, cartoons, Rob Zombie, drinks, 5k’s…you name it. It’s safe to say, the zombie genre has been done to death, unfortunately, that death has been re-animated and come back a million different ways. Zombies are not only horror-genre material, anymore. There have been zombie romances, animated zombies and zombie comedies.

DMZ heads to SyFy!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Feb 6th, 2014

Jana B. here,

DMZ

SyFy is cashing in on the popularity of comic book adaptations for small screen with a DC comic book, ‘DMZ‘. In a huge deal at Warner Bros TV, two of ‘Mad Men’s producers Andre‘ and Marie Jacquemetton are hitching their wagon to another producer, David Heyman of ‘Gravity‘ and ‘Harry Potter‘ fame. The Jacquemetton’s, a husband and wife team, will write the series. They began with ‘Mad Men’ right after the pilot was picked up. The two have shared in three of the series’ four best series Emmys and earned three writing Emmy Nominations on their own.

Hi, Bryan Here….

wizard-of-oz-cast

I don’t understand all the hype around making new reboots or re-imaginings of the world of ‘Wizard of Oz‘. The last attempt with ‘Oz the Great and Powerful‘ was awful, as you can read HERE. ‘The Wiz‘ wasn’t so great, neither have the countless other versions been up to par with the exception of the dark and twisted version ‘Return to Oz‘. But out of all networks and movie studios, the SyFy network seems to be getting into the Oz business.

Hi, Bryan Here….

That pilot for Syfy’s ‘Battlestar Galactica’ prequel series titled ‘Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome’ will finally be airing on Friday.  It will only be online this Friday, but after this weekend there will be a Blu-ray/DVD/VOD release.  It’s sad that SYFY passed on this series, which I don’t understand.  BSG was a huge hit for them, and the trailer we debuted a few months ago generated tons of hype.

‘Sinbad’ Sets Sail For SYFY!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 6th, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

The SYFY channel has just ordered 12 episodes of ‘Sinbad’ a new action adventure series from BBC Worldwide.  And no, I’m talking about the comedian.  ‘Sinbad’ will chronicle the famous sailor’s voyages over the globe.  The series should air starting in April of next year on the SYFY network.  If this is as good as ‘Battlestar Galactica’, then you know I’m one billion percent in.

SyFy Going for Laughs!

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 12th, 2011

Not that most of Syfy’s stuff isn’t inherently hilarious, but normally they’re not actually going for giggles. Lately, though, the channel famous for terrible made-for-TV movies is grabbing up parodies – namely Ghost Ghirls, executive produced by the indomitable Jack Black.
