Hey guys, Jana here,

Netflix has jumped from small-screen and so-so feature film debuts to big-budget film exclusivity. I’m not saying Netflix wasn’t on their A-game before, but being the sole place to find the new Adam Sandler movie is a little different than being the only outlet to carry the new Will Smith (‘Collateral Beauty‘) action flick, and that’s exactly who they are now with the debut of ‘Bright‘.

There are some things that are certainties in life. Disney is slowly making their way through their animated film catalog and reconstructing them as live-action films. Another certainty we can count on is that big stars are climbing onto these new films like crazy. So it’s no surprise that Will Smith is eyeing a leading role in the classic 1941 story ‘Dumbo‘ that’s been in pre-production for a while with director Tim Burton.

Hey guys, Jana here,

2235697-suicide_squad_001_01

When it comes to Marvel comic-to-movie VS. DC comic-to-movie transformations, Marvel has a clear leading edge with interlaced storylines and sheer numbers that have been released. It pains me to type that because I am a DC fan. HUGE fan of DC characters, the heroes and their amazing villains. To me, the villains are absolute top notch and beat out anything Marvel can throw out. The colors, the histories, the wicked laughs and plots are perfectly my brand of crazy. Among these vivid characters that leap off the pages are Two-Face, Lex Luthor, Harley Quinn and of course, The Joker.

The silver screen adaptation of the Marcus Sakey novel ‘Brilliance‘ is courting Will Smith to star. Kevin Smith is everywhere these days. He’s making movies with food that wants to kill you, podcasting in multiple cities, selling his comic books at his retail stores, and even conducting interviews for IMDB at film festivals. “The guy is like MacGyver. No, motherfucker’s better than MacGyver.” Since his last film ‘Yoga Hosers‘, Smith has been making some DC television series on top of teasing us with stories of a ‘Clerks III‘ film and a ‘Mallrats‘ sequel series, both of which I would have sold my Michael Jackson statue to see.

Kevin Smith is a film maker that turned the business of making movies on it’s head. He hit the jackpot with 1994’s ‘Clerks‘. The script had “personal experience” written all over it and it made a very unexpected splash. Since then Smith has laid some pretty decent comedy on film, excluding ‘Jersey Girl‘.  I adore most of his films and it all started with ‘Clerks‘. Smith kept the indie-style film making with him the whole way. Nothing could prove that more than his latest film, ‘Tusk‘.

Hello, Jana here,

Karate_kid_ver2

If you’re the star of a movie that makes $343,000,000 worldwide with a budget of only $40,000,000, you would be safe in betting there is a sequel in your future. If you’re Jaden Smith and you’re one half of the doomed project ‘After Earth‘ and a studio is still willing to bank heavily on you, you thank your lucky stars and say “yes”.  If you can get millions of people to look past the fact that the film is called ‘The Karate Kid‘ and features NO Karate, only Kung-Fu, then audiences deserve way less credit than I give them.  Of course I’m talking about the box office hit and re-make, ‘The Karate Kid‘. The director, Harald Zwart, will not be responsible for this venture as it appears he is going to be tied up with another sequel, ‘The Mortal Instruments: City of Ashes‘. Instead, Breck Eisner is taking the reigns. Eisner most recently directed ‘The Crazies‘ that starred Timothy Olyphant and Joe Anderson.

Kevin Smith Will Make ‘Tusk’ Before ‘Clerks III’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 25th, 2013

Jana B., Here….

kevin_smith_spoilers_large

Kevin Smith. I don’t hide my unabashed love for him and lust for Silent Bob’s counterpart, Jay, or has we know him, Jason Mewes. Felt like I was just living out the fantasy in ‘Jay and Silent Bob Strikes Back‘ when he first saw Justice. OK, back to the reason I’m writing this. There is news on the ‘Clerks III‘ front! I seriously did a fist pump like I was channeling my inner Judd Nelson when I learned this. You know how Kevin Smith tells us that we’re going to have a new Clerks movie, but he has to do this one project first? This is one of those projects. In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, the next film he’s going to make is titled ‘Tusk‘. Smith says it will be an “Ivory bridge” to ‘Clerks III’. If that’s not some Oscar Wilde like word play, I don’t know what is. Yeah, gratuitous insertion of ‘Clerks II‘ reference. Smith says it will make financing the sequel easier and also to work out some of the cobwebs from not having directed a film since 2011’s ‘Red State‘. We can all agree we want Smith at the top of his game for what will probably be the final Clerks installment.

Film Review: ‘Rampage’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Apr 11th, 2018

There really isn’t any point in denying that Dwayne The Rock Johnson is the biggest movie star in Hollywood right now, but he might also be the best. Nobody, except early Will Smith, can star in, sell, and market a movie the way he can. His power to entertain audiences with ridiculous premises is undeniable. Rampage is stupid, big, and insane, but it’s also obnoxiously entertaining and a joy to watch.

Film Review: ‘Pacific Rim: Uprising’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Mar 22nd, 2018

Alright lets get the plot out of the way, shall we? Pacific Rim: Uprising takes place ten years after the final battle of the first film in which Stacker Pentecost (Idris Elba) gave his life to stop the Kaiju attacks. Stacker’s son, Jake, is played by John Boyega of Star Wars fame and is a promising Jaeger (the big robots) pilot who quit his training and does some underground criminal activity at the start of the film. The Jaeger program has evolved since we last saw the program where a new, younger crew defends the planet. A young girl creates her own Jaeger and is captured with Jake, which leads them to both join/rejoin the program. Of course a rogue Jaeger seems to be causing trouble and might be working with the Kaiju to reopen The Breach and release new monsters. Jake teams up with his former rival Nate (Scott Eastwood) and the young new recruits to stop the World from being destroyed and honor his father’s legacy.

4K UHD Review: ‘Suicide Squad’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 13th, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan here…

a1kazv9rhrl-_sl1500_

THE FILM

There seems to be a good movie hidden somewhere in ‘Suicide Squad‘, but the film itself makes it nearly impossible for you to find where those good moments are. The film is its own worst enemy, because it promises something new and fresh in the first dozen or so minutes, but then nose dives into the mountain from there on out. This is certainly writer/director David Ayer’s most ambitious project and I can’t tell if it’s his mistake or the collection of DC/Warner Bros. executives who forced the notes on him to make this film not succeed, because again, the first part of the movie gathers your hopes up for something fun. Ayer wrote ‘Training Day‘ and ‘U-571‘, then transitioned into directing with ‘End of Watch‘ and ‘Fury‘, which were both new and fresh takes on tired genres. I was hoping that Ayer could breathe new life and put the DC Comic movie franchise on the right track, but alas, that is not the case.

Film Review: ‘Concussion’!!

Football, especially in Texas, is king and they are not alone in this mindset.  In Concussion, Pittsburgh, PA’s love for the game (as well as the rest of the country’s) and the NFL’s reign over it endangered Dr. Bennet Omalu’s (Will Smith) life.  Against all odds, Dr. Omalu, a forensic pathologist discovered and worked to educate the masses of the mental dangers of playing the beloved sport.  Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) and its related diseases, named by Dr. Omalu since he discovered the disease, was and possibly still is affecting football players from kids to professionals.  Dr. Omalu is from Nigeria and holds America in high esteem, but his reverence is about to be tested.

And if does win, we all go streaking. That being said…I can’t believe that ‘Me and Earl and the Dying Girl‘ was not nominated for anything. Come on. It’s one of the BEST films of the year. It’s also interesting to see no love for the final season of ‘Mad Men’ her either. Oh well.

Here is the list of nominees:

Hey guys, Jana here,

1425275679will-smith

Will Smith’s name and company, Overbrook Entertainment, has been linked to what’s been referred to as a ‘Fresh Prince of Bel-Air‘ reboot, but that’s not quite accurate. The studio is definitely involved in making a family comedy that has a slight resemblance to the series that transformed the Fresh Prince from the rapper we loved, to the on-screen entertainer that’s taken over the world.

Celebrate your July 4th Holiday with these Films!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jul 3rd, 2015

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

the-sandlot-20th-anniversary-1157_rgb

In the midst of family and friend get-togethers, 37 pounds of BBQ spare ribs, ten gallons of creamy cool coleslaw, floating in a pool, and setting off fireworks, while listening to Neil Diamond’s ‘America’, I also like to enjoy “that one night game a year”, meaning I love to watch July 4th inspired films. I usually do a mini movie marathon of them with the usual food and beverages that go with each film. I’ve done this the past few years, with one year, taking a break to do an all John Carpenter/Kurt Russell marathon. That was a lot of fun. But, for those of you who want to enjoy a movie or three over the holiday weekend, but keep with the spirit of the 4th of July, here are a few suggestions to keep you patriotic.

Film Review: ‘Focus’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Feb 26th, 2015

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

Focus-2015-Movie

The art of deception and the big con job are at the center of ‘Focus‘, which is a very sleek film full of charm, wit, and a giant basket of twists and turns that will have you yelling in your seat. There isn’t anything relatively new or fresh here in the form of changing the game or genre of the ‘con-artist’ film, but with Will Smith and Margot Robbie’s performances and the luxurious and glossy look this film has, this deceptive film has a place of its own with the rest of the fun thief movies we’ve seen. Whether it be ‘Ocean’s 11‘, ‘Confidence‘, or even ‘Dirty Rotten Scoundrels‘, you can bet that you won’t see at least a few cons running full force at you.

Hey guys, Jana’s here,

PicMonkey Collage

Well there’s some good news and bad news abuzz in the movie world that affects the DC movie-verse. ‘Suicide Squad‘ casting was released a few months ago which brought reactions in all spectrums from fans that are rather passionate about who will embody our favorite characters. I know the reactions were mixed because I had some pretty mixed reactions, myself. Particularly with Tom Hardy being cast in the role of Squad leader Rick Flag, however this doesn’t have to be an issue any longer as Hardy has exited the project over scheduling issues.

When I was told director David Ayer was going to bring one of my favorite comics, ‘Suicide Squad‘ to life, I got excited and happy that immediately turned into stomach churning nausea. Why would I have such an extreme reaction to this news? I mean, comic books have been inspiration and fodder for dozens of high dollar productions, why would this be different? I’ll tell you what bothers me about it, the casting for the villains needs to be impeccable.

‘I Am Legend’ Reboot From The Warner Bros!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Oct 2nd, 2014

Hey guys, Jana here,

i-am-legend-poster-big

In 2007, Warner Bros had a hit on their hands when Will Smith took ‘I Am Legend‘ to silver screens across the globe. Since then, the media giant has been searching for avenues to expand the world and story into either prequel or sequel efforts. There was a serious effort at a prequel that saw Warners hiring Arash Amel to write a script that would have brought the scientist, Robert Neville’s character back right to the start of the cataclysmic circumstance that led to his being alone on the planet. The story line didn’t mesh together easily enough and the studio abandoned the project. They’re ready to give it another shot.

Is ‘Bad Boys 3’ Heading Into Production?!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Aug 15th, 2014

Hey guys, Jana here,

badboys3-front

I can remember something specific about most movies I see. I remember being in high school when the first ‘Bad Boys‘ film came out. The biggest thing that sticks out in my mind though, is how freaking HOT Will Smith looked when he was running down the road and his shirt flew open and showed off his chest and abs, which looked marvelous! This is what stays in my mind when I hear the movie name. My kids are even aware that I have a favorite scene in the movie and which scene it is, and even why, much to their chagrin.

This isn’t a list of patriotic movies (though some of these could be seen as patriotic), so you aren’t going to see Saving Private Ryan or other true patriotic movies on here. What could possibly go wrong in a romantic movie that includes time travel, Colin Farrell on a flying horse, Russell Crowe as a demon, and Will Smith as the Devil? Well, a lot actually. Winter’s Tale is a truly sappy bit of film with a lot of star power and a story that relies on manipulation rather than actual depth.

Emile Hirsch to Play John Belushi In Biopic!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 28th, 2013

It’s confirmed. Emile Hirsch has been cast as John Belushi in the untitled biopic from Steve Conrad.  This is HUGE news. I would have never guessed this in a million years. I guess Emile is going to put on some weight, but I do think he is an amazing actor, and can pull this off. Conrad wrote the script as well.

Film Review: ‘After Earth’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on May 30th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here….

After-Earth-Movie-Trailer-photo

After Earth‘ has a ton of good things going for it. We have Will Smith who has the largest box office draw in the business right now and his son Jaden Smith who has proven he has decent acting chops and can secure a decent crowd. This film also has a post apocalyptic scenario in the sci-fi genre that takes place on different planets in the far off future. Did I mention that it also has aliens, spaceships, and cool weaponry too? This is a perfect recipe for a potential massive summer blockbuster that could make over $1 billion. Despite these seemingly cool aspects, ‘After Earth‘ comes up short and never fully delivers the movie it should be.

Film Review: ‘Oblivion’

by Gumbercules9000 on Apr 19th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here….

oblivion-movie-poster-tom-cruise-joseph-kosinski-featured

It’s been a great couple of years for science fiction fans. The sci-fi genre has shown its big head again, and the masses have seem to be eating it all up.  No matter what your opinion on a particular sci-fi film of recent, you can’t deny that the genre is back with a vengeance. Films like ‘Looper’ brought the future and time travel aspects to a great level of entertainment, whereas ‘Cloud Atlas’ made us think and at times confused us as to what was going on. None the less, it was a giant spectacle on screen, much of like we have seen many times before.

Taylor Reviews ‘Men In Black 3’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on May 25th, 2012

Taylor Here….

I was worried about Men in Black III.  Almost every minute of Men and Black II made me wish I’d snuck in a beer or six, and I don’t think I could take more disappointment from Will Smith.  I still haven’t fully forgiven him for Hancock. The third installment turned out to be about 1000% better than the second effort, chock full of witty one-liners, truly disgusting alien encounters, and a few good men who look damn fine in black suits and skinny ties.

FedMex Reviews ‘Men In Black 3’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on May 24th, 2012

FedMex Here…

When Men in Black came out in 1997, we got a very different and original script showcasing one of Hollywood’s most popular actors alongside one of Hollywood’s most respected actors as an elite group of government agents that keep aliens under control on Earth.  Five years later, someone slapped together a sequel that made no sense.  It featured a Jar-Jar Binks-like alien, and had us shaking our heads in disappointment.

Bryan Reviews ‘Men In Black 3’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on May 23rd, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

I was very apprehensive about seeing the third installment of ‘Men In Black’.  I really loved the first film back in 1997.  I was sixteen at the time and remembered how much fun the original film was and what magical characters and comedy it brought audiences worldwide.  Then came the second installment of Men In Black in 2002 which was dull, boring, dialed in, and lacked any real good memories or fun.  I thought that the franchise was done.  That is until I saw ‘Men In Black 3’.   ‘Men In Black 3’ easily makes us remember what we loved about the original film and brings back those elements and even improves on them.  I can see future  ‘Men In Black’ films in the future if they keep this good work up.

The New ‘Men In Black 3’ Trailer Looks Promising!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Mar 5th, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

While I wasn’t a huge fan of ‘Men In Black 2’, this third one actually looks good.  Josh Brolin does a spot on impression of Tommy Lee Jones.  See, Brolin will play a younger Tommy Lee Jones when Will Smith’s character goes back in time to save the world.  One question I have is since we are getting a third ‘Men In Black’ film, will we be getting a 3rd ‘Men In Black’ song by Will Smith?  Enjoy the trailer.

Spike Lee Will Direct Remake of ‘Oldboy’!!!

Director M. Night Shyamalan has announced that he will be directing another sci-fi film recently.  Shyamalan’s work as of recently has not been well received and for good reason.

M. Night gave us Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, and Signs.  All magnificent achievements in filmmaking.  But his recent efforts such as: The Lady in the Water and The Last Airbender have been nothing short of AWFUL.

So it seems he is going to direct a film which he has not written (very strange since he has written pretty much everything he has directed) over at Will Smith’s production company and studios Overbrook which might lend a hand to get Will Smith or his son Jayden smith to star in this film.

The movie he is looking to direct is called 1,000 A.E.  This reminds me of that animated film that came out years ago called Titan A.E.  A.E. stand for After Earth.  Joss Whedon wrote that movie.

The film has already been written by Gary Whitta who wrote The Book of Eli.

Although nothing is really known about this movie yet.

What are your thoughts?

There is a new boss of Men in Black 3 and they are…..

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 1st, 2010

Men in Black 3 starts shooting soon and there is a new cast mate that was added.  The great Emma Thompson (Sense and Sensibility and Love Actually) will lend her talent to the sequel.  She will be playing the new boss of MIB.  This was originally played by the great Rip Torn, but as recent months have shown, he has gone bat shit crazy, and the powers that will be think it is too risky to hire him.  Which they are right to do so.

I think Emma Thompson will be a great replacement and addition to this cast.

Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones will be returning as well as Barry Sonnenfeld to direct.

Add to that cast Josh Brolin and Jermaine Clement (Flight of the Conchords) and you got yourself one hell of a movie.  Brolin will play a younger Tommy Lee Jones character and Jermaine will be the villain of the movie.

Looking forward to this.

Top 133 Films of the Last Decade (#119 – #101)

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 30th, 2010

After this section of the list we will be at the top 100 films of the last decade.  So many great films on this list.   Like last time, you will get the title of the movie, the year it was released, and a brief memory and review of the film.  Plus, a link to purchase the movie over at AMAZON for a great price.

Enjoy #’s 119 – 101.

119_ House of 1000 Corpses – April 11, 2003

The much anticipated Rob Zombie Horror film.  This film went through so much hell to get released.  It took about two years.  But finally it did.  Rob Zombie showed me that he had what it takes to be a director and he also showed his love of horror films.  Captain Spaulding is forever a great character in cinema history now.  This film is brutal, hilarious, bloody, and all out crazy.  Go Rob!  Look out for a young Rainn Wilson.

118_ Boiler Room – February 18, 2000

What a great story about an illegal stock broking firm.  This movie made me       re-think about those pesky sales calls.  Great performances from Giovanni Ribisi and Nicky Katt.  Kick ass soundtrack too.  i love the Ben Affleck speeches in this movie to motivate these young kids to steal people’s money.  I would imagine this film hits close to home for some people.

117_ Love Actually – November 7, 2003

The ultimate romantic comedy that does not fail anywhere.  I love watching this film.  Not only is it filled with love and comedy, it is filled with drama and hurt.  The best of both worlds really.  All-star cast with cameo appearances by tons of people including Mr. Bean.  If you want a great wonderful feel good movie, then watch this.

116_ Grizzly Man – December 5, 2005

What a horrifying documentary about a man who lives with the grizzly bears illegally in Alaska for a decade.  Now don’t get me wrong, I laughed a lot in this doc, but ultimately it is a tragic tale.  You meet Timothy Treadwell who appears normal and has an unhealthy fascination with bears.  His problem is that he thinks they are like humans.  Throughout the doc you seem him descent into literal madness where he will never escape which leads to his and his girlfriend’s death.  Werner Herzog does a great job with the footage that he is given.  A must-see.  i just think Timothy’s downfall was that he did not understand nature or the chaos that nature is.  You will see it.  Remember the bee he thought was dead?

115_ Ong Bak 2 – October – 23, 2009

The follow up to the bad ass thai martial arts film Ong Bak starring Tony Jaa who is the ultimate badass.  No stunt wires or special effects either in this film.  Jaa is Bruce Lee times 1000.  Ong Bak not only stars Jaa but is also directed by him.  The fight scenes are beautiful and the direction is beautiful. I just want more Tony Jaa films.  Please. Now.

114_ The Mist – November 21, 2007

Stephen King’s amazing book gets the proper treatment from Frank Darabont.  I loved this adaptation.  This film really did creep me out.  If something like this really happened, you better believe some fanatics would come out and start some crazy shit and not help the situation at hand which is that terrifying monsters are trying to eat us.  Loved the ending.  Also the B &W version on the dvd is great as well.

113_ Sicko – June 29, 2007

Another great documentary from Michael Moore.  This man knows what he is talking about.  I do believe we need a better healthcare system in this country and what we have now is not working and has not worked.  This film is NOT about people WITHOUT healthcare, but rather about people WITH healthcare who DON’T get help because of the insurance companies.  It is heartbreaking and funny and very informative.  I think everyone should see this documentary.

112_ The Devil’s Rejects – July 22, 2005

The follow up to Rob Zombie’s House of 1000 Corpses which plays out more like Natural Born Killers than a Music Video Horror Film.  I loved this film.  So much fun and uber uber violent.  I think this film still holds the record for most curse words. I really root for the bad guys in this film, because in essence they are a family doing what they do best.  Once again Rob Zombie makes a brilliant piece of Horror cinema to last forever.  Great dialogue that will make you gut bust laugh.

111_ Azumi – May 10, 2003

A badass Japenese flick about a samurai girl who fights evil in her land.  Move starts off with her in a samurai school and the last test before “graduation is her and her classmates have to fight to the death.  Who ever survives gets to graduate.  HARDCORE!  There is a very creepy gender confused villain in this film which makes for much delight.  Also the fight between Azumi and about 1000 people is epic.  The camera work is top notch.  See Azumi.

110_ Zero Day – January 23, 2004

Oh man this film is crazy.  Based on the shootings at Columbine, this film is made to look like a handheld camera documentary of  the lives of two friends in high school who plan to kill as many people at their high school as they can.  And they DO.  It is like Blair Witch/Cloverfield but with the Columbine Shootings subject matter.  It is very frightening.  Tons of insight as to why the Columbine might have happened.  This film rocks and if you can find it, WATCH IT.

109_ Shrek – May 18, 2001

This series has made tons of money and Shrek and Donkey have become cult characters forever.  This is on the list because of its wit, humor, and story.  Very original.  I loved theis film is not only for kids but adults of all ages.  Which means it works on all levels.  I just wish the third film could have been good.

108_ Ali – December 28, 2001

This film makes the list strictly for it’s acting from Will Smith, John Voight, and Jamie Foxx.  I did not particularly like the direction at all, but the acting is unbelievable.  Some of the best.

107_ Hellboy – April 2, 2004

Oh Hellboy, one of my favorite characters from comics.  Del Toro did a fantastic job with this film as he does with all of his movies.  The world he created with Hellboy is pure magic.  He can brilliantly mix fear and comedy and make it work.  Kudos to you all.  Ron Pearlman is excellent as Hellboy.  I want more Hellboy films.

106_ The 40 Year Old Virgin – August 19, 2005

The film that brought Judd Apatow and Steve Carrell to fame.  Also the film that redefined the comedy genre with the dick jokes and vulgar bathroom humor.  Not only are the jokes in here great but it also has a wonderful story.  I still quote this film.

105_ Zombieland – October 2, 2009

Zombies and Woody Harrelson amped up to 10 makes for a kick ass fun film.  I really enjoyed this film.  Fast paced, good character development, plenty of guts and gore, and great funny dialogue and possibly the best cameo of the decade is in this film.  All hail B.M.  I hear they are making a sequel to this film.  Also this film starts out in Garland.  Looking forward to more from this director.

104_ Speed Racer – May 9, 2008

The Wachowski siblings bring this cartoon to life in a huge way.  This is the most colorful film I have ever seen.  I think most people disliked this film but I disagree.  I was highly entertained.  This film could have been terrible and been a huge failure, but it was a lot of fun and a high energy thrill ride.  Very enjoyable.

103_ Zodiac – March 2, 2007

A very creepy accurate film of the Zodiac killings which is still unsolved to this day.  Fincher did a great job making this film and all of the characters are spot on.  a quality film in the serial killer genre, possibly one of the best.  Extremely well written.

102_ Spider-Man – May 3, 2002

Sam Raimi brought this beloved comic character to life and is was spectacular.  It was everything I wanted Spider-Man to be.  Even Bruce Campbell was in it.  I can’t speak for the third film, but this fist movie was amazing.  Spot on dialogue delivery and character adaptations and casting was unreal.  This will remain one of the best super hero films ever. Go Sam Raimi.

101_ Behind the Mask – September 14, 2007

A true gem of a film that not many people have seen or heard of.  This film is filmed like a documentary in a world where Freddy Krueger and Jason Vorhees and Pinhead are real.  The immortal killer in this film is Leslie Vernon.  He comes across as a likable charming guy with a hint of something not right.  This film crew documents him and how he kills his victims and how he is able to vanish quickly from sight and keep track after his next victims.  A whole lot of fun and originality.  Highly recommended.  Loved this film.  I hope to see another film with Leslie Vernon.

That’s it for this part of the list. Stay tuned next time for the next section. Any guesses as to which ones will be on the list?

Jay Pharoah Signs with SNL…A Must Watch

Newcomer Jay Pharoah just signed to be on the new cast of SNL.  Now there has not been a decenet episode of SNL in a very long time.  The episode where Betty White hosted was pretty funny, but other than that, I believe SNL has lost their edge.

Well hopefully this new cast can bring it back to the top.  Jay Pharoah is a master impressionist and I do not say that lightly.  i might be one of the best I have ever seen.  He does spot on impressions of Will Smith, Denzel Washington, Chris Tucker, President Obama, Eddie Murphy, Bernie Mac, and others.  I have heard a few other impressions of his and they were not that good, but the ones I mentioned are the best I have ever heard.  I am very much looking forward to seeing him perform.

The link will take you to a clip of him impersonating Denzel Washington and Will Smith being interviewed on a movie shoot they were on and didn’t work out.  Needless to say it is gut wrenchingly funny.  If you look around some more you might find the President Obama video which is also hilarious.

Film Review ‘Another Wolfcop’!!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Dec 11th, 2017

Hey guys, Jana here,I had the awesome pleasure of watching ‘Another Wolfcop‘. I have to preface this review by saying there are few things I love more in this world than movies, specifically the fantastic sub-genre of horror-comedy. Don’t ask me why, but that pair works together like pineapple on pizza. Yeah, I’m one of those people. While people far and wide dis the pineapple on pizza combo, it’s an unadulterated fact that the horror-comedy tag-team works like crazy in film. So read on to check out what you can expect from this sequel to ‘Wolfcop‘ from writer/director Lowell Dean.

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

The most popular and well-known man in the world was and maybe still is Michael Jackson. He had fans all over the world and inspired not only the common folk, but many great musicians over the past 30 years years. Michael Jackson won tons of awards for his music, produced and created some of the best songs ever made, delivered the best music videos, and started a big charity called Heal the World. His life was in the tabloids constantly with hideous scum people making up stories that forced him to be a recluse for most of his life. He was just a man who became a father to three kids and when he was pushing 50 years old, he was more or less forced to perform 50 concerts as a way to make ends meet and provide for his family. Much has been said over the many years about Michael Jackson.

Film Review: ‘[Detroit]’!!

by Janet White on Jul 29th, 2017

Hello Everyone, Janet W.  here…

Fifty years ago (to the day I screened Detroit), atrocities occurred in Detroit, Michigan. July 25, 1967 has been a day of woe for generations past and will be for those to come. Effectively capturing the events of this time, Detroit offers a raw in-your-face journey into the debasement of human beings simply because of their color. Such actions led to outrage which brewed to boiling over due to criminal misconduct and murder performed by police officers escalated to several days of rioting and worse. Black people helping the crooked cops unlawfully abuse and imprison other black people. Read the rest of this entry »

Film Review: ‘[Girls Trip]’!!

by Janet White on Jul 22nd, 2017

Hello Everyone, Janet W. here…

We’ve seen this storyline before. Four friends come together, experience a separation, reconnect and hijinks abound. In Girls Trip, Ryan (Regina Hall), Lisa (Jada Pinkett Smith), Sasha (Queen Latifah), and Dina (Tiffany Haddish) met in college, became the Flossy Posse and were thick as thieves. Then life happened and disrupted their efforts to stay close. An opportune event, New Orleans’ Essence Festival, changes all of that…

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

HBO and the Duplass Brothers have come together to make an anthology series titled Room 104, which will have a brand new story each week, where the tone, theme, characters, and time period changing that all takes place in a room at a motel. Below is more information, but I can say that the trailer for this show looks quite good. I mean, it’s HBO, so what would be bad about it, right?

Film Review: Tatara Samurai!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 7th, 2017

Audrey E., here….

Tatara_Samurai_860

The Martial Arts genre, or better known as “Black Belt Theater” has had a strong presence in the United States since the beginning of the 1970’s. The Asian film imports have gathered a legion of fans who appreciate the action dominance of some, or the more prowess components of others. In the new Japanese drama, ‘Tatara Samurai‘, Director Yoshinari Nishikôri respectably tries to incorporate both elements, but the outcome is an unfortunate sequence of sluggish storytelling, awful over-acting and combats so laughable, even Bruce Lee would shake his head in disdain.
