Mark Millar is returning to the ‘Kick-Ass‘ universe with a new ‘Hit-Girl‘ ongoing series, which will hit shelves on February 21st, 2018. In the two ‘Kick-Ass‘ films, the role of Hit-Girl was played by Chloe Grace Moretz and is a very young girl who is the most deadly and violent crime fighters in the world. In this new comic book series, Hit-Girl will leave America and set out for Columbia, where she becomes an assassin for hire.

A mother has hired Hit-Girl to seek revenge on the murder of her child, which Hit-Girl or Mindy starts to take out a bigger group of criminals. I’m all the way in here. The first big story arc will be written by Millar with art by Ricardo Lopez Ortiz. In an interview with Comicbook.com, Millar says that the second big story arc will be written by Kevin Smith (Clerks, Mallrats). Smith is no stranger to the comic book world, as he’s directed a number of DC superhero shows and has written for DC Comics in the past. Each big story arc will feature a new writer and take place in a new country where it will follow the violent escapades of Hit-Girl.

There will be no crossover with the Kick-Ass series, but the new comic will take place right after Kick-Ass 3.  Millar did say that there will be new Kick-Ass stories though in the future and that ‘Hit-Girl’ will go on for at least three years. Those of you who have been clamoring for new Kick-Ass and Hit-Girl material are in luck now, and you’ll be able to start reading them as soon as February of next year. Bringing Kevin Smith on is a good decision.  His work on Batman: Cacophony and Batman: The Widening Gyre were excellent, and I’m sure his unique wit and story telling will make its way to Hit-Girl. Time will tell.
