TERMINATOR: DARK FATE – Film Review #2!

by Bryan Kluger on Nov 4th, 2019

Terminator: Dark Fate picks up 2 decades after the events of T2: Judgment Day and proceeds as though the multiple sequels never occurred. I also like to pretend none of the sequels ever happened so this was a low bar for entry into this movie. The opening credits recap what was supposed to happen in 1997 using clips from T2 which was a very efficient way to get everyone in the audience on the same page. It reinforces the starting point of this movie, in T2 Sarah Connor won and the apocalypse caused by SkyNet never happened. Of course, humans are way too stupid in this World and the Terminator World… so despite SkyNet never existing in this timeline, something called Legion was created which is just an updated SkyNet and humans are still hunted by machines in the future. Luckily we shook off that 1997 technology and the machines have some really unique nanotechnology abilities this time around!

TERMINATOR: DARK FATE – Film Review

by Bryan Kluger on Nov 1st, 2019

New and old terminators battle it out to save humankind once again in this heavy-handed homage to the original two films with Terminator: Dark Fate. There are a few elements to like in this big reunion in the Terminator universe, but silly winks and too many head-nods ultimately take you out of the moment, along with some fairly over-the-top action sequences that seem to belong inside a Fast and Furious movie. Even though Arnold Schwarzenegger is still solid gold in this character, perhaps the robot apocalypse was the best thing that could have happened.

Film Review: ‘Terminator Genisys’!!

by Bryan Kluger on Jun 30th, 2015

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

maxresdefault

The year is 2015 and we have our fifth ‘Terminator‘ film, titled ‘Terminator Genisys‘ or simply ‘Terminator 5‘. I’m going to start by saying that there should NOT be another ‘Terminator‘ film made unless James Cameron returns to write and direct it. There have been three ‘Terminator‘ movies since ‘Terminator 2: Judgement Day‘, all of which were made by people other than James Cameron. How did they turn out? Let’s just say they were less than stellar.

terminator-reboot-genesis-images

Well, there is going to be more ‘Terminator‘ films. The current one being made is called ‘Terminator: Genisys‘ and has Arnold Schwarzenegger back in his iconic role. We’ve written about this before on the site, and while I say, that no ‘Terminator‘ film can be good without James Cameron at the helm, this one might come close.

Hello, Jana here,

Terminator-Salvation

Dayo Okeniyi may not have a name you recognize right away, but you’ve surely noticed his work in a few films. He was one of the lucky few to feature in the big screen adaptation of Suzanne Collins‘ coup de maître ‘The Hunger Games‘. He also has ‘Runner Runner‘, ‘The Endless Now‘ and ‘Endless Love‘ to his credit. His star is definitely on the rise in Hollywood.

We know that Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) will be playing Sarah Connor and Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty) will be playing John Connor with Alan Taylor (Game of Thrones/Thor:The Dark World) directing. Now we have just found out that actor Jai Courtney (A Good Day To Die Hard) has been cast as Kyle Reese.

So we all know by now that Paramount is rebooting ‘Terminator‘ with director Alan Taylor at the helm. Taylor recently directed ‘Thor: The Dark World‘ along with a bunch of episodes of ‘Game of Thrones‘ and numerous other HBO series. We are hearing now that Taylor and Paramount are wanting either Emilia Clarke or Brie Larson to play the iconic role of Sarah Connor. Hi, Bryan Here….

Terminator-terminator-9683150-1024-576

Well, the deal has finally been made. Skynet will go live in 2015 and send Terminators to kill us all.  I kid. I kid. But, Paramount has finally greenlit a trilogy of new rebooted ‘Terminator‘ films, with the first movie releasing June 26th, 2015. That’s two summers away. Megan Ellison, who is the daughter of a multi billionaire, got into the film producing business three years ago and has a pretty successful track record already. She purchased the rights to ‘Terminator‘ in 2011 for over $20 million and now has a three picture deal.

The Bishop Charlotte Reporting….

Steve Guttenberg has been missing from the screen for about twenty years. People actually believed he was dead. He had a good run in the 80’s, and then just kind of vanished. It’s not that he was gone, per se, he just was starring in movies that no one cared to see. And should not see. Ever.

Hi Bryan Here…

Arnold is confirmed to reprise his role as the Terminator in yet another go at the Terminator franchise in Justin Lin’s Terminator 5.  This is not very surprising as I’m sure if he weren’t running California, he would have been in the last film.

Bill & Ted Face The Music – Film Review!

by Bryan Kluger on Aug 27th, 2020

“Bill & Ted Face The Music is a ton of fun and is most triumphant.”

Throughout the centuries, there has always been brutality and war, fascist government regimes who aim to hurt people, and most recently – the current political and social climate that has boiled over into bloodshed and hatred. Luckily, there are flashes of excellent victories of peace and friendship due to the excellent friendship of San Dimas locals Bill & Ted. Their most Excellent Adventure saved the world with them traveling through time, collecting historical figures for their history report, and their Bogus Journey had them crossing paths with Death, God, and Satan as they traveled through heaven and hell, only to come back and play a song to unite the world in harmony. Now almost thirty years later, this everlasting duo tackles their most heinous adventure yet in Bill & Ted Face The Music as a now older Bill & Ted must play a newly written song that would save the universe, reality, and time before it implodes on itself, destroying all life. Bringing back cast and crew along with some heartwarming messages, this third film is a ton of fun and is most triumphant.

Maleficent: Mistress of Evil – Film Review!

by Janet White on Oct 18th, 2019

Hello Everyone, Janet W. here…

Truly once in a blue moon, a sequel surpasses its predecessor. One of my favorite examples of this is Aliens. Everyone else may say The Godfather Part II or Terminator II: Judgment Day and yes they would agree with me, too. With complete assurance, I now add Maleficent: Mistress of Evil to the list. Back in 2014, I screened Maleficent and was somewhat disappointed. Here is the link to that review in case you are curious: Janet White’s Maleficent Film Review 2014. Yes, the wickedly delightful Maleficent (Angelina Jolie) darns her horns once more to battle racism and evil once more. Read the rest of this entry »

I Am Mother – Film Review!

by Bryan Kluger on Jun 9th, 2019

“I Am Mother is one sci-fi film that gets it right.”

As we’ve seen before, robots with artificial intelligence will either help us succeed into the future with a peaceful existence or completely obliterate the world population for their global takeover. With the new Netflix original movie I Am Mother, it’s not so black and white as that. There is a big gray area as newcomer directory Grant Sputore graciously tells the story about a human/robot relationship. This aptly paced thriller has some wonderful original ideas that are implemented with twist and turns throughout that never sells itself short on passionate participation. This is one sci-fi film that gets it right.

The Prodigy: Film Review!

by Bryan Kluger on Feb 7th, 2019

The Prodigy is an early-in-the-year horror film that checks most of the boxes of the horror genre while at the same time, showing us something fresh with a possibility of something much larger in scope. Which ever the case is, this film is very promising and I hope there is a sequel of some sort down the line, because this is an avenue of horror that needs to be explored.

Blu-ray Review: ‘Piranha II: The Spawning’!

by Bryan Kluger on Oct 3rd, 2018

Back in 1981, the world was introduced to filmmaker James Cameron (T2: Judgement Day, Avatar, True Lies). His first feature film was called ‘Piranha II: The Spawning‘ or otherwise known as The Flying Killers and was a sequel to the first ‘Piranha‘ film from a few years prior. The production of this movie had a very troubled history, where Cameron wasn’t even the filmmaker hired for the job. The original director was fired due to differences with the hard-nosed Italian producer. This was also true with Cameron as well, where Cameron had a completely different filmed version and script of the movie that was more or less a comedy horror film that was fun.

Film Review: ‘[KIN]’!!

by Janet White on Aug 28th, 2018

Hello Everyone, Janet W. here…

Crash. Pew Pew. Woosh. Boom. Maneuvering through the ruins of an abandoned building, KIN opens with the coolest sound mixing that I have heard and literally felt in a long time. Eli Solinski (Myles Truitt) searches for scrap metal to sell, but finds a weapon endowed with great power and a secret that will alter his life. An outsider, Eli has few friends and lost his mother at a young age. It is no wonder why he is so reserved in his demeanor. At least until you mess with his family. Hal Solinski (Dennis Quaid), Eli’s father, comes home to find Eli suspended for fighting and his elder son, Jimmy Solinski (Jack Reynor) released from prison. Can his day get better? Film Review: ‘Deadpool 2’!

by Bryan Kluger on May 16th, 2018

Ryan Reynolds was born to play the Marvel Merc with a Mouth, Deadpool. Reynolds just pours all of his unique charm, wit, comedy, and physical choreography into the character. It’s almost like Reynolds is the actual Deadpool in real life, and indeed the world is better for it. Marvel and Fox decided to play nice a couple of years ago and we got a rated R Marvel superhero film with ‘Deadpool‘. It was a gamble for sure with the strong bloody violence and foul language, but the film ended up making almost $800 million at the box office and  was met with rave reviews across the board.
