Hey guys, Jana here,

55ddcfcf8ebe221439ce60b2_lawrence-schumer

I can’t believe it’s happening, but Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Schumer seem to be more than just vacationing buddies, as of late, they’re writing partners! It even gets better than that, the project they’ve been tearing through is a vehicle that will put the goofy, hilarious duo together on-screen, as well, sisters at that! Is this a new incarnation of the Tina Fey/Amy Poehler dynamic?

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

There’s been a project called ‘It’s ‘What I Do: A Photographer’s Life Of Love and War‘, which is a memoir by Lynsey Addario that has Hollywood clamoring to buy the rights for the big screen. It now seems that Warner Bros. has the upper hand and set to strike a deal with a highly bankable and talented team.

David O. Russell is a renaissance man in the movie biz, a fairly well known renaissance man. The gifted, writer, director, producer has given us some staples that make up a well-rounded film education. ‘I Heart Huckabees‘, ‘The Fighter‘, ‘Silver Linings Playbook’ and ‘American Hustle‘ are just among the credits attributed to Russell. His films are separated from the uninspired masses and Hollywood has noticed the difference with massive nominations when awards season rolls around.

Beka’s Review: ‘Red Sparrow’!

by Bryan Kluger on Mar 1st, 2018

Do you love spy movies? Are you way too into the Russia probe? Do you like gratuitous torture scenes? Did you miss the Jennifer Lawrence nudes? Get your tix for Red Sparrow, because it’s right up your alley. Walking in and realizing this movie is two hours and twenty minutes sets you back, but I have to be honest, once it started, it doesn’t drag. Without spoiling this spy thriller for you, the most I can say is that Jennifer Lawrence is a prima ballerina whose leg legit gets shattered during a performance and in order to keep her government paid housing and medical care for her ill mom, her dirty uncle sends her to whore school to learn to be a spy. She becomes their best student. AND. HERE. WE. GO.

Film Review: ‘Red Sparrow’!

by Bryan Kluger on Feb 23rd, 2018

Have you ever wondered what happens to ballerinas who have their legs shattered worse than a hit by Lawrence Taylor? Well Red Sparrow is the movie for you. The basic plot is that Jennifer Lawrence is a Russian ballerina who suffers a horrible injury and is forced into a spy program by her uncle. Joel Edgerton plays a CIA operative who is in contact with a Russian mole. That is really all you need to know going into the movie. I can tell you that it is a very deliberate slow burn with its nearly two and a half hour run time. The payoff is worth it and there are enough moments sprinkled throughout that kept my attention. The violence is particularly brutal and they shy away from nothing to the point even I cringed at a torture scene.

Film Review: mother!

by Bryan Kluger on Sep 13th, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

It’s been proven over the last two decades that filmmaker Darren Aronofsky makes movies his own way. He doesn’t bow down to Hollywood execs and never makes movies for the masses. Most people would fail with this tactic, but with Aronofsky, he wins awards and is met with critical acclaim. With films like Pi, Requiem for a Dream, Black Swan, and The Wrestler (I won’t mention Noah) – you can tell that Aronofsky doesn’t make tightly wrapped, happy movies with pretty little bows on them. I commend him for this, because he’s doing something that nobody else is doing.

Hey guys, Jana here,

Quentin Tarantino brings so many things to mind, first and foremost, a kick-ass movie with top notch acting. Such is what I hope continues for the director as he is said to be tackling his first true-crime project on the Manson Family murders.

Hi everyone, Bryan here…

THE FILM

Here we are with the final ‘Hunger Games‘ movie again, ‘Mockingjay’ Part II. With splitting the final chapter into two separate films, you’d think there’d be something worth waiting for or at least a big climax. None of that is found here with Part II, despite what anyone else tells you. I understand why the studio wanted to split the final film into two parts, which would garner double the money and profits off of one story, but in order to have a decent story and film, you need it to go somewhere. In this case, anywhere.

THE FILM

Things are not looking up for Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) in this third installment of Suzanne Collins‘ young adult book series ‘The Hunger Games‘. In an effort to squeeze as much money as they can, the movie studio decided to split the third and final book into two parts, much like the last two ‘Harry Potter‘ films and the recent trilogy of the single book of ‘The Hobbit‘. On one hand, the fans will get two movies. On the other hand, there will be a lot of filler between these two films to stretch them out to their two-hour run time.

4K UHD Review: ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’!

by Bryan Kluger on Nov 15th, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan here…

THE FILM

This portion of the review was written by Suzanne Loranc.

Everyone can understand that the second movie in any series can be the problematic middle child of a franchise. They tend to suffer between the spellbinding beginning and the satisfying conclusion. However, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire rises above the usual awkward bridge label with excellent performances and a script that remains faithful to the book to make it a movie that could almost stand on its own.

Hi everyone, Bryan here…

THE FILM

Have you read ‘Hunger Games’?  Do you know what ‘Hunger Games’ is about?  If not you’re in for a real treat.  ‘Hunger Games’ is based on a trilogy of novels by Suzanne Collins.  It’s geared towards young adults.  The premise is a whole lot like ‘Battle Royale’ where a group of young kids or teenagers are picked in a lottery system to battle each other in a designated area until there is only one survivor.

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

The awards show is January 10 on NBC hosted by Ricky Gervais. First off, let’s look at something AWESOME here. ‘MAD MAX: FURY ROAD‘ is nominated for BEST PICTURE. It needs to win. It should win. And if does win, we all go streaking. That being said…I can’t believe that ‘Me and Earl and the Dying Girl‘ was not nominated for anything. Come on. It’s one of the BEST films of the year. It’s also interesting to see no love for the final season of ‘Mad Men’ her either. Oh well.

Here is the list of nominees:

Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper are this generation’s Doris Day and Rock Hudson, Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks – whatever you want to call them, they’re brilliant! Director David O. Russell has taken an obvious notice of this and continues to cast the pair in his films to rousing success. Then again, that’s a Russell standard, he finds actors he likes and he sticks with them. In this case, Robert DeNiro is another who has worked with him in the past that appears in ‘Joy‘. Under Russell’s direction, each of the actors has been nominated for an Academy Award for their performances, with JLaw winning for ‘Silver Linings Playbook‘.

David O. Russell has  found a formula that works and he’s sticking to it. That combination is featuring Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper together, throw in Robert De Niro and you have a partial cast list for the foursome’s latest endeavor ‘Joy‘. The group came together successfully in ‘Silver Linings Playbook‘ then minus DeNiro for ‘American Hustle‘. Lawrence won an Academy Award for Silver Linings, so it makes sense to hope for big things from this picture.

Jana’s Best/Worst of 2014!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Dec 15th, 2014

Hey guys, Jana here,

PicMonkey Collage

It’s been a big year for the entertainment world. Netflix’s initial push to bring movie-theater worthy films straight to streaming customers and bypassing the big screen altogether set off a chain of deals that will take those fresh releases and push them directly into homes allowing us to bypass a $15.00 soda, but denying us the $20.00 popcorn you can only get at the theater. Then came the deluge of series and movies being made for exclusive run with everyone from Netflix, Amazon to Crackle and everything in between. Top that off with the huge breach of privacy Sony experienced. New releases were flooded onto P2P sharing sites and private emails from the film company’s big wigs that show us how the infrastructure of Sony really works, not to mention what those involved really think of some of their superstars.
