Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

edgar-ramirez-star-trek-2

We reported earlier last week that Gerard Butler (‘300‘) suddenly dropped out of the remake of ‘Point Break‘, where he was set to play Bodhi, who was played by Patrick Swayze in the original film. Now it seems they had a second option who is the amazing Edgar Ramirez. Ericson Core will be directing from a script from Kurt Wimmer.

Gerard Butler Drops Out of ‘Point Break’ Remake!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on May 7th, 2014

Hello, Jana here,

gerard-butler-photo-16

Gerard Butler has moved back onto my ‘Oh, I love him’ list. Butler took up permanent residence on that list from the time I saw his chiseled, gorgeous features in ‘300‘. Then I elevated him to crazy heights after I saw his turn as Phantom and heard a gorgeous voice. Then the love affair came to an unfortunate fork in the road when I learned the horrible truth that Butler planned to take a role that Patrick Swayze made his own as Bodhi  in ‘Point Break‘. Luke Bracey is still set to play FBI agent Johnny Utah originally brought to life by a post Wyld Stallyns Keanu Reeves.

Gerard Butler Joins ‘Point Break’ Remake!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Jan 9th, 2014

Jana B. , Here…

Point-Break1

It pains me every time I hear of an existing movie being bastardized with a revamp. The newest title to head to the remake guillotine is 1991’s ‘Point Break‘. I will never be a fan of twisting a fantastic movie from my childhood into drivel, reflecting the current time frame. ‘Point Break‘ adds salt to the remake wound, but also and more importantly, the Patrick Swayze wound. It’s like Hollywood is telling us anything Swayze did was crap. It’s a shorter list to name the movies the remake fairies DON’T have their meat hooks into.

Hi, Bryan Here….

olympus_has_fallen

Here is the new 1st trailer for ‘Olympus Has Fallen‘, which looks pretty intense. We have talked about this movie before and marks one of several films dealing with an elite team taking down terrorists at the White House.  Antoine Fuqua will  be directing the film, which he is known for making ‘Training Day‘. The trailer itself looks good and stars Gerard Butler, Aaron Eckhart, Morgan Freeman, Angela Bassett, Dylan McDermott, Ashley Judd, Melissa Leo,  and Rick Yune.  Hell of a cast if you ask me.

Hi Bryan Here….

Boomstick Comics sat down with Leonidas himself, Gerard Butler, to talk about his latest film ‘Machine Gun Preacher’ which is the true story on the the life of Sam Childers.  Butler plays Childers in the film perfectly.  The charming and hilarious Butler talks about how he prepared for his role as Sam Childers and what it was like working on the set.  he also gives us a little hint of some of his upcoming films including a short film directed by Brett Ratner where Butler plays two foul-mouthed leprechaun brothers.  He gives us one of his lines in character.  It was pure magic and hysterical.  Enjoy.  You might recognize Gerard from ‘300’, ”, ‘Phantom of the Opera’, and ‘Gamer’.

Blu-ray Review: ‘Geostorm’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jan 29th, 2018

THE FILM

Natural disaster films will always have a special place in my heart. Most of the time, they are over-the-top, ridiculous, and never make a lick of sense. Still, there is something entertaining in watching giant cities fall due to an alien invasion, a giant lizard, or is with the case of ‘Geostorm‘, extreme weather. No matter what the premise, these films usually have the same intentions and plot structure, which usually involves one hero guy to save the day, millions of casualties, hilarious one-liners, and enough insane plot tangents that would cause you to have a headache.

‘Geostorm’ is Coming to Blu-ray!

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 14th, 2017

You know you’re gonna want ‘Geostorm‘ on Blu-ray to watch every single detailed death, brought upon by hardcore weather. It’s basically ‘Independence Day‘, but with weather instead of aliens. Who doesn’t want to see that? The Blu-ray comes out January 23rd, but you can watch it digitally on January 16th. There will be behind the scenes extras, visual effects, and more included here too. Dolby Atmos sound is also included, which is damn good for this type of movie. Below are the full details for the release.

Film Review #2: Spider-Man: Homecoming!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jul 7th, 2017

Dan M., here….

Spider-Man: Homecoming is a really good “Marvel” (too lazy to explain all the Sony stuff) movie that is hopefully the breath of fresh air the MCU needs. It had much smaller stakes, much more realized supporting cast and World that they operated in, a good villain that made sense, and a finale that didn’t turn into a $45million CGI punching. If the future of the solo Marvel films is going to be smaller universe conflicts that are more narrowly focused like this and Ant-Man? I am here for it. Leave space to Guardians & Thor, the end of the World to the Avengers, and weird dimensions to Doctor Strange. Give me low level criminals that Spider-Man has to fight before a math test to break those huge films up any day of the week.

The New GEOSTORM Trailer is Insanely Ridiculous!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jul 6th, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

Geostorm is a new movie coming out from Warner Bros. that looks like every disaster movie mixed in with a presidential kidnapping with King Leonidas from 300, spartan kicking the weather down on Earth from his space station. I’m not kidding. This will either be the worst movie ever made or the best movie ever made. There will be no middle ground here.

The ‘GeoStorm’ Trailer is Here!

by Gumbercules9000 on Mar 8th, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here…

Screen Shot 2017-03-08 at 1.53.42 PM

.In what looks to be the absolute WORST film of the last five years, ‘GEOSTORM‘ finally has a trailer. What is ‘GeoStorm‘ exactly? First off, let me just say that this film was supposed to come out a couple of years ago, but keeps getting pushed back – for obvious reasons. Mainly because, it looks like a giant SHIT-STORM of Epic proportions. This film is directed by Dean Devlin who really hasn’t done a directing gig, but rather produced the ‘Independence Day‘ films. So take that information and replace alien invasions with giant tornados, tsunamis, and snowballs the size of Mt. Rushmore hurling into skyscrapers.

Getting Deep with ‘Gods of Egypt’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jan 11th, 2017

Jennifer S., here….

gods-of-egypt-1

Firstly, this is my first real blog post; inspired by the fact that I finally got to view Gods of Egypt.  This was, like many Egyptian Mythology based movies were, a movie that I was looking forward to finally viewing.  I’m uncertain as to why I decided this was the topic I wanted to delve back into writing for, but here it is.  I feel two ways about it.  I’m going to express initially that I enjoyed it from an objective standpoint, it was fun and colorful and full of some interesting effect that got them right as often as they got them wrong… Giant Heads… #BobbleGods.  Now I’m going to express my displeasure, as anyone who has a passing interest in actual mythology realizes, it’s terrible.  The story is anyway, but the plotline is okay… and personally, I feel the message was all wrong about the afterworld.

Film Review: ‘Keeping Up With the Joneses’!!

by Janet White on Oct 21st, 2016

Hello Everyone, Janet W. here…

keeping-up-jones-gaffneys

Everyone gets suspicious when new neighbors move into the neighborhood. However, when the new neighbors, Tim and Natalie Jones (Jon Hamm and Gal Gadot), are super hot, then what? Sweet suburban couple, Jeff and Karen Gaffney (Zach Galifianakis and Isla Fisher), is immediately fascinated. Can you blame them? The Gaffneys’ lives are quite mundane despite the fact that their children are away at camp. The Joneses are chic, publicly affectionate, and suspiciously nice. The Gaffneys will never be the same again. Read the rest of this entry »
