If you’ve been wondering what Gerard Butler has been up to lately, you’re about to get a peek at it. Coming to theaters on February 26, 2016 is ‘Gods of Egypt‘. Butler is part of  a cast that is made up of Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Brenton Thwaites, Chadwick Boseman, Elodie Yung, Courtney Eaton and Geoffrey Rush.

In this spectacular action-adventure, the survival of mankind hangs in the balance as an unexpected mortal hero Bek (Thwaites) undertakes a thrilling journey to save the world and rescue his true love. In order to succeed, he must enlist the help of the powerful god Horus (Coster-Waldau) in an unlikely alliance against Set (Butler), the merciless god of darkness, who has usurped Egypt’s throne, plunging the once peaceful and prosperous empire into chaos and conflict. As their breathtaking battle against Set and his henchmen takes them into the afterlife and across the heavens, both god and mortal must pass tests of courage and sacrifice if they hope to prevail in the epic final confrontation.

This epic story comes from director Alex Proyas (‘I, Robot‘, ‘The Crow‘) and was written by the team of Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, their combined efforts are responsible for ‘The Last Witch Hunter‘ and ‘Dracula Untold
