Hey guys, Jana here,

Disney_Castle_Disney_Logo

Disney has made a name for itself with family-friendly entertainment. It’s got a logo that any toddler recognizes and parents can guarantee that if it’s bearing the Disney name it’s a safe bet that at least someone in the family will love it. I’m not saying Disney is getting stale, they are having to work harder than ever now to remain atop the family pyramid of entertainment since there are so many other contenders in that category now.

Hi, Bryan Here….

THE INCREDIBLE BURT WONDERSTONE

Steve Carell and James Gandolfini can’t seem to get enough of each other. Right of their project ‘The Incredible Burt Wonderstone‘, the two have paired up again for a new comedy. This time it will be on the small screen rather than the big screen. Both Carell and Gandolfini will produce and star in ‘Bone Wars‘ for HBO, which is currently in development.

Steve Carell and Channing Tatum Might Strike Gold!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 19th, 2011

The Bishop Charlotte Reporting….

Bennett Miller is known for getting the best performances out of his actors, and thus for earning them Oscars. Philip Seymour Hoffman won Best Actor for Capote, and Brad Pitt is getting nods and buzz for Moneyball. Now, he’s possibly letting Channing Tatum (G.I. Joe) and Steve Carell (Evan Almighty) ride his coattails for a new film that’s already generating some Oscar talk.

In a not unusual move, scheduling conflicts have cropped up on the set for ‘Freeheld‘. Zach Galifianakis was originally on tap to play the male lead in the film based on a documentary about domestic partner benefits. The furry, funny man had to step down due to other commitments, making way for Steve Carell to step into the vacated position. The docu followed the story of Laurel Hester and Stacie Andree as the pair fought to amend the Domestic Partnership Act, which would grant pension benefits to domestic partners of all New Jersey public employees. Ellen Page and Julianne Moore are under contract to play the couple.

Carell Has Conviction!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Nov 3rd, 2011

Hi Bryan Here…..

Jim Carrey is currently in negotiations with New Line to star opposite Steve Carrel in ‘Burt Wonderstone’.  Carell plays the title character, a Las Vegas magician who breaks with his longtime stage partner and finds himself upstaged by a rival hip street magician who is stealing his thunder.  I’d imagine Carrey will play the hipper rival magician.

‘Last Flag Flying’ waves over Blu-ray!

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 14th, 2017

Last Flag Flying‘ is coming to Blu-ray on January 30th and will be available digitally on January 16th. The film is directed by Richard Linklater (Dazed and Confused, Everybody Wants Some, Boyhood) and stars Steve Carell, Bryan Cranston, and Laurence Fishburne, and is based on Darryl Ponicsan’s book of the same name. The movie focuses on three older men who all served in Vietnam together. Fast forward many years later, they are all reunited when one of their son’s has died in the Iraq war and they road trip to bury the fallen. It’s a different kind of movie for sure in Linklater’s list of movies, but he proves that he can tackle any subject, even if it isn’t as silly or fun as the above mentioned films of his. There will be audio commentaries, behind the scenes featurettes, deleted scenes, and more included on this Blu-ray. Below is more information on the release.

Film Review: ‘[Despicable Me 3]’!!

by Janet White on Jun 30th, 2017

Hello Everyone, Janet W. here…

Despicable Me 3, the fourth film in the franchise, brings back to the screen the lovable and “special” characters from the previous films, Gru (Steve Carell), Lucy (Kristen Wiig), Margo (Miranda Cosgrove), Edith (Dana Gaier), Agnes (Nev Scharrel), and those crazy Minions. In addition, a new crazy villain bursts on the screen and in your face, literally EXTREME close-up, Balthazar “Evil” Bratt (one of the comedic greats, Trey Parker). I really liked Parker’s take on the antics and the extra cheese factor as Bratt. Gru’s life has changed so much since Despicable Me 2, he’s married to Lucy and officially fighting crime instead of causing it. Then in an embarrassing display, Evil Bratt sends a deathblow to his career. What will Gru do? Read the rest of this entry »

Film Review: ‘Cafe Society’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jul 21st, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan here…

rs-247750-RS-Cafe-Society

Even at the age of 80, the iconic and prolific filmmaker Woody Allen has not lost his wit, charm, or ability to churn out film after film every year. With a little bit of ‘Annie Hall‘ and ‘Manhattan‘ mixed in the frying pan, Allen brings this 1930’s Hollywood story come to life, titled ‘Cafe Society‘. It’s been a while since Allen has made Los Angeles the backdrop for one of his films, and this sweet, funny, romantic film really hits all of those famous Woody Allen notes that we’ve come to expect over the years. It might not be the most original story, but when Woody Allen does these neurotic love stories, the characters, dialogue, and plot all come together in a cohesive and very funny manner. It’s what Allen does best, and he is back in full form with ‘Cafe Society‘.

Film Review: ‘The Big Short’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 24th, 2015

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

Christian-Bale-The-Big-Short-Movie-Still-800x533

We all remember the horrible times from 2007-2010 with all that went on with the housing crises and stock market crash. Tons of people lost their homes, went broke, lost their jobs, and even committed suicide. This was all due to the major banks and loan officers, giving people bad loans no matter what their income situation was. After a little while, everyone started to default on their home loans and all of the banks failed, which forced the hardworking middle class people to bail them out with our own money.

The awards show is January 10 on NBC hosted by Ricky Gervais. First off, let’s look at something AWESOME here. ‘MAD MAX: FURY ROAD‘ is nominated for BEST PICTURE. It needs to win. It should win. And if does win, we all go streaking. That being said…I can’t believe that ‘Me and Earl and the Dying Girl‘ was not nominated for anything. Come on. It’s one of the BEST films of the year. It’s also interesting to see no love for the final season of ‘Mad Men’ her either. Oh well.

When you look at the raging success of films ‘Moneyball‘ and ‘The Blind Side‘, besides being highly bankable projects, they have another thing in common, both began as a novel that flowed from the pen of author Michael Lewis. When Paramount Pictures turned its creative eye towards another Lewis novel, ‘The Big Short‘, it came as no surprise that several acting giants have agreed to headline the adaptation, together.

Janet White’s Best/Worst List of 2014!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 29th, 2014

Janet W., Here…

2014What an interesting year in film.  There were some really good films and REALLY bad ones.  Some are bad because of my disappointment in the execution of potential brilliance.  Others are good because they brought an amazing story in a skillful manner that is worthy of memory.  I can only speak to the films that I was either blessed or, in some cases, cursed to screen, 23 in all (plus one cool dance performance).  Feedback is encouraged whether you agree, disagree, think I’m nuts (I am a little crazy), or if you think a film I reviewed should have been included.  Here are my Top 10 Best Films and Top 5 Worst Films of 2014….

Film Review: ‘Foxcatcher’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Nov 25th, 2014

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

Foxcatcher

Director Bennett Miller has chosen his four films wisely. Starting with ‘The Cruise‘ back in 1998, Miller has only three more films on his resume, including ‘Foxcatcher‘. The previous two were ‘Capote‘ was an Oscar winner as well as ‘Moneyball‘. Miller has an uncanny knack for telling compelling stories that are based on real life events and engaging the audience to not only be entertained, but to think and discuss these characters and sometimes real people’s motives in what they did in their particular story. You can add to that, Miller’s success in getting his actors to win Oscars almost across the board, and this very dark and creepy film ‘Foxcatcher‘ is no different.

Warner Bros. are trying yet again to revive the Looney Tune franchise. They’ve had moderate success over the past decade with a couple of feature films, and a new series, but they have not come close to making a big blockbuster hit like they used to. Re-Cast: ‘The Three Amigos’!!

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

three-amigos-01

Here is our 34th episode of ‘The Multi-Media Men‘ and with one of our infamous Re-Cast segments.  We had a lot of fun with this one. We went ahead and recast ‘The Three Amigos‘, which starred the funniest three people in the world – Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Chevy Chase. It’s damn near impossible to remake and even recast this film, because it is indeed perfect, but in this day and age with so many reboots and remakes, it just might happen. So here are some of our suggestions on who should play which role? Do you agree with us? We hope to see this at least on the Broadway stage sometime soon as a musical. And please let us know what you think by going to our FACEBOOK page, which you should visit to catch up on all the latest information. And don’t forget to visit iTunes and Stitcher to subscribe to our podcast. Enjoy the show.

Film Review: ‘Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 18th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here…

ANCHORMAN 2: THE LEGEND CONTINUES

Almost a decade later, we have received a sequel to the cult comedy hit, ‘Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy‘, which might have not performed all so well at the box office back in 2004, but has become an instant classic on home video. In these past years, we have seen nearly every actor from that film become super stars with a giant fan-base that has been quoting their dialogue from their film all those years ago. Well, we’re here with ‘Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues‘, and I’m here to say that there are enough gut busting laughs for three entire feature films, and I expect this sequel to boast huge ratings and numbers at the box office come this holiday.

I am a huge fan of his, anyway, and this one does not seem like it will disappoint. ‘Treme’ Returns for 3rd Season Sept. 23!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 22nd, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

First, the people came back. Then, the crime. Now, more than two years after the near death of a great city, the money is starting to arrive, which would sound like a solution if this were some place other than New Orleans, and this was some other era but America at the millennium. For the people of New Orleans, even the promises of redevelopment come with strings attached, and every dollar that shows up – whether from government disaster relief, or from venture capital, or even from those seeking to remake New Orleans in the wake of Katrina – carries with it new dynamics and new risks. National interest has waned, moving on to the next headline, but those who know and love the Crescent City have no choice. They must find their way back to what matters in the life of their city. However, little of what they can bring to bear yields a quick result, and nothing about New Orleans – its government, its police department and courtrooms, its school system – works as it should. Nothing is easy.  In the end, their only weapons are community. And culture.
