Blu-ray Review: ‘The Unborn’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 3rd, 2018

There is a fun horror sub-genre about pregnancy and demonic babies. In 1991, a film called ‘The Unborn‘ was added to that list and could be compared somewhat to ‘It’s Alive‘ and ‘Rosemary’s Baby‘. What’s crazy about this movie is the amount of talent involved before they were A-List. This is filmmaker Rodman Flender’s first film who went on to make a ton of horror movies and TV shows such as ‘The Office‘, ‘Arli$$‘, and ‘Leprechaun 2‘. It was produced by Roger Corman, starred a young Lisa Kudrow, with cinematographer Wally Pfister, who went on to lens all of Christopher Nolan’s movies, including the ‘Dark Knight‘ trilogy. It’s crazy, I know.

Jana’s Best of 2017!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Jan 1st, 2018

Hey guys, Jana here,

I know these “Best of 2017” lists should technically be published in 2017, but why would I start 2018 any differently than I lived the majority of my adult life: Procrastinating and underachieving. What can I say? That’s my wheelhouse.

For a year that put a spotlight on some of the shittiest behavior by some of the Hollywood elite, it was actually a good year for TV and movies. I didn’t limit myself in number because as I moved on with the brackets, I felt like I was making ‘Sophie’s Choice‘ on some of these, so they’re all getting in! I’m feeling my inner-Oprah here, You’ve made the list! You made the list! EVERYBODY made the list!! In order to spare myself any arguments, I’m stating up front that my picks for the “Best of 2017” are not edited in regards to scandal or hideous human behavior.

A Deeper look into the ‘The Holiday’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Nov 21st, 2017

In 2006 a little movie by the name of ‘The Holiday’ was released unto the world from the place where all darkness flows. It now signifies the start of “Holiday Movie Season” for countless women across the globe. I believe it is solely responsible for the Hallmark Channel’s holiday film slate every November-December. However, the imitators don’t even come close to the unique mess this film is. I actually don’t think I’ve seen the movie in one full sitting the past 5 years but it has been in such a rotation in my home that I’ve caught it in enough chunks to have seen it at least 10-12 full times since it came out in 2006. I really want to break down the absurdity of this movie to get everyone in the holiday spirit.

by Gumbercules9000 on Jan 18th, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

Antibirth-Blu-ray

Scream Factory us releasing the horror film ‘Antibirth‘ on February 7th, 2017 that stars Natasha Lyonne and Chloë Sevigny. This is a comedy-horror film that looks to mess with your mind and make you laugh, along with some gross out thrills. Mark Webber (Scott Pilgrim vs the World) and Meg Tilly (Psycho II) also star in the film. Surprisingly, this film has received a ton of high praise from all over the world and it even premiered at Sundance last year to rave reviews. I for one can’t wait to see this.

Hey guys, Jana here,

behind_his_back_1__large

I’ve had the privilege of viewing yet another film from Fantastic-Fest, which is still in full swing in Austin, TX. This movie was a little different. That is putting it mildly, to say the least! However, no over-powering gore in this one. It’s a comedy set in a somewhat alternate world where men get the pleasure to become pregnant, carry and deliver the couple’s child! When I read the title of ‘Behind His Back (Un Bebe Dans Le Dos), It’s a French film, I had a whole different scenario going through my head of what the film would be about.

Film Review: ‘Sin City 2: A Dame To Kill For’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 21st, 2014

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

sin-city-2-a-dame-to-kill-for-eva-green-ava-lord

Second verse, same as the first. It’s been almost ten years since Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller brought us the noir-soaked graphic novels known to comic book fans around the world as ‘Sin City‘, which was created by Miller himself. This seedy, ultra violent, and nasty underworld, where crime is rampant and the bad guys end up on top of this booze drenched and drug induced city is the backdrop for some of the most entertaining characters in ever to come out of a graphic novel.

Good news, everyone. Anchor Bay Entertainment and Scream Factory have finally partnered up to give us horror fans something we have wanted for far too long. Not one but two different Blu-Ray box sets that spans all of the ‘Halloween‘ films. There will be tons of new bonus features, every film in high-definition, collectible packaging, and a 40-page Booklet. You can expect this amazing set in time for Halloween season, specifically on September 23rd. It’s about time they did this, because Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street already have box sets. Glad to see ‘Halloween‘ is catching up with everyone else. Now if we can just get that ‘Phantasm‘ box set to release in the US instead of the UK, all will be well. And today, they have unveiled the amazing Box Art it comes in. This is Fantastic. I Can’t wait. And you can pre-order the set now for 30% off.
