Episode 2

Episode 2 is a direct homage to Bewitched from the opening credits to the cutaways of Wanda using her powers. It opens with the couple in separate beds hearing loud noises outside that sound like explosions. After some good gags about both characters being afraid to look outside, they see that it is just a tree branch hitting the window. Calmed down, both characters start discussing this place being their home now and their hopes that they can finally fit in. In the morning they practice their magic show which they will put on for the town talent show fundraiser.

After Vision leaves, Wanda goes outside and finds a toy helicopter in the bushes. The episode is in black and white but the helicopter is colorized and has a strange upside-down ‘t’ with an oval around it symbol on the door. Just as she seems to break out of her 1960s mannerisms, Agnes appears and discusses how they are going to a neighborhood planning committee for a town talent show. Wanda continues to fret about fitting in with her neighbor Dotty who is running the town talent show fundraiser. Agnes continues to mention her husband Ralph who we still haven’t seen.

Meanwhile, Vision goes to the library to meet up with the neighborhood watch and see if they can increase patrols to discover what those loud noises were. Vision doesn’t believe it was the tree branch it seems. Turns out the neighborhood watch is just all of the husbands hanging out together and gossiping. One of the husbands offers Vision a piece of gum which he accidentally swallows and a cartoon of Vision’s body shows the gum grinding up against his gears.

At the planning committee, we meet Dotty who Wanda is very nervous about impressing. We are also introduced to Geraldine who seems very cheery sitting next to Wanda revealing she is also new to town. Geraldine at one point turns to Wanda, breaking her 60s character, saying “Why am I here?” This causes Wanda to look confused before she brushes past it and continues with the meeting. At the end of the meeting, Dotty seems to break character to tell Wanda, “You are so lucky.” Both of these exchanges seem to shake Wanda a bit but not enough for her to do anything beyond move on. As she tries to move past the strange comment from Dotty, a radio says “Who are you? Wanda! Wanda are you there?” over and over until Wanda seems to freak out and the radio and glasses with tea explode.

At the talent show, the gum in Vision’s gears causes him to act and appear drunk. Vision does tricks using his actual powers which Wanda masks by using her powers in a very entertaining comedic sequence. The entire town is there and Dotty points out that they are doing all of this “For the children.” After the talent show, Wanda removes the gum and she and Vision discuss the day and mention “For the children.” At that point Wanda instantly becomes pregnant, Vision seems concerned about this but as he is about to express his thoughts they hear a noise outside. When they go out they see someone climbing out of a manhole in the center of the street. Wanda looks at it, says “No.” and rewinds to the point she revealed her pregnancy to Vision. This time he is excited and his face becomes the normal purple-red from the movies. The episode ends with the entire show becoming colorized.
