Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘ has added Jason O’Mara to the cast for the upcoming fourth season. His addition is in response to the shocking announcement from Clark Gregg’s Agent Coulson at the close of season three, about a new director taking over the agency.

Hey guys, Jana here,

“SO SAY WE ALL!” Many of us are waiting for ‘Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘ to return from its break and now there’s a new reason for the anticipation. ‘Agent Carter‘ is definitely doing its part to keep our attention diverted from the fact that we have no new SHIELD episodes coming our way until March, but after learning that Edward James Olmos will be added to the cast all I can say is that the struggle to wait patiently is proving impossible!

Joss Whedon is always looking to push the bar higher and higher with his projects. This could not be more true with Marvel’sAgents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘. He hints and teases us with just a little new information at a time. This time, we know that means Deathlok is making an appearance. Marvel TV chief Jeph Loeb confirmed that J. August Richards’ character, Mike Peterson, will become the cyborg. Loeb continued, “We’ve been leaving breadcrumbs along the way. This is a major Marvel character appearing on TV, on film for the first time.”

Hi, Bryan Here….

marvels-agents-of-shield-cast

Well at the ABC UpFront presentation today, Joss Whedon showcased a long trailer for the ABC upcoming series ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘, which will focus on the agents and other superheros from the Marvel universe, which I bet will tie in loosely with the next ‘Avengers’ film. The series will air in the Fall on Tuesdays at the 8pm time slot. I cannot wait for this.  The trailer looks amazing. And yes, COULSON LIVES!!!

Powers Boothe

June 1, 1948 – Mar 14, 2017

When great entertainers pass away, it’s difficult to come up with the right way to mourn a life that still lives on for us in so many ways. The one way we can not just respect the life, but continue to enjoy the life they lived is with re-watching their movies that cement their presence in our lives.

Film Review: ‘The Legend of Tarzan’!!

by Janet White on Jun 30th, 2016

Hello Everyone, Janet W. here…

Tarzan - Brothers

Every woman loves the strong and silent type, yes? Well, I say only for a while. Women are more than their looks and I’d say the same in regards to men. Both sides have bad apples, but on the whole, our actions and words are as integral to who we are as our appearance. Yet in The Legend of Tarzan’s portrayal of Tarzan, silence dominates and makes this King of Beasts a robot, not just mute, but cold and detached for the majority of the film. They should have subtitled the film, “A Man of Few Words”, because The Legend of Tarzan, starring Alexander Skarsgård as Tarzan/Lord John Clayton was just that.

Hey guys, Jana here,

X-Men_Legacy_Vol_2_5

FX Networks has more Marvel and X-Men news, this time it’s an 8-episode order to ‘Legion‘ starring Dan Stevens. Stevens is one of the most heart-stopping reasons to love ‘Downton Abbey‘ and he’s playing the titular male role in Disney’s upcoming ‘Beauty and the Beast‘. ‘Legion‘ is the first cable hosted series for Marvel, ABC hosts ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘ and Netflix is home to four other comic-book shows.

Hillary Thomas’ Top 5 Films and Best TV Shows of 2015!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 29th, 2015

Hillary T., Here…

Best2015_660

As a writer for Boomstick Comics, we are charged with going to see a lot of movies. I thought that this past year, I saw quite a few. Apparently, with the opening of the Alamo Drafthouse in Richardson, the movies I saw this past year weren’t all new. There were some that were classic programming at a new venue. What can I say? James Wallace knows that I like (“Sixteen Candles”, “Aliens”, “Big Trouble In Little China”, “True Grit”, and “Conan” just to name a few), but I did see a “Few Good Movies.”

When you hear the name Marvel attached to a project it doesn’t only have to mean action, it will soon be synonymous with comedy, as well. ‘Damage Control‘ will take it’s place on ABC besides ‘Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘ and ‘Agent Carter‘.

Hey guys, Jana here,

Mockingbird-Lance-Hunter-Agen

Fans of the hit Marvel series, ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ can rejoice that two of the strongest characters from the series, Barbara Morse, better known as Mockingbird and Lance Hunter are back in the prime position of carrying their own series, whether or not it will be a “spinoff” of ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘ still remains to be seen, but Marvel’s ‘Most Wanted‘ is definitely a go for pilot. Whether or not fans do a lot of rejoicing having two fan favorites taken from Agents is definitely going to rub some fans the wrong way, while other will embrace it fully.

Dallas Comic Con 2015: The Cosplay!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 10th, 2015

When comic con rolls into town, cosplay is a big part of it. Cosplay is dressing up and getting the chance to be someone else for a bit.  People spend weeks, and even months getting ready and building their costumes. There are even people, like LeAnna Vamp who have made a living cosplaying. LeAnna Vamp is a professional cosplayer who recently attended Fan Expo Dallas, and she is known for her YouTube channel “I Love Nerd Girls” and “Star Wars Girls.” LeAnna brought her special kind of nerd love to Dallas this past weekend and shared with us how she got started in cosplay.

Since Dallas Comic Con has been acquired by Canadian parent company Fan Expo, the guest list for this event has expanded and grown to almost astronomical proportions. This May, it was no exception! Could ‘The Dark Tower’ Go To Film This Time?!?!

by Red Zeppelbon on Apr 10th, 2015

Hey guys, Jana here,

darktower102411

When Stephen King began Roland Deschains’ journey, I would wager he hadn’t comprehended the the size that the finished work would ultimately be, it’s an 8 book series, and it’s King’s magnum opus, and as such the author has crossed over the gunslinger’s world with several of his novels. The dream and hope that we can one day see this adapted to either big screen or mini-series swells and washes out. Is it time to start hoping again, though?

The Marvel Experience Sets Up In Dallas!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jan 23rd, 2015

Hillary T., Here…

marvel.experience.domes_

Well, as a fangirl, I have a S.H.I.E.L.D. costume. Let’s not lie, I wore it all last year to conventions. I watch Agent Catrter and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on a weekly basis. So, when I heard the Marvel Experience was coming to Dallas, my inner ten year old went nuts. I shouted out loud, “What, I must be a part of this. “

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

Mark your calendars for April 10th, because that is when the new Marvel series ‘Daredevil‘ will debut exclusively on Netflix. Season one will have 13 – one hour episodes, which will all be available at midnight on April 10th. I really enjoy the first attempt at the feature film that starred Ben Affleck, Jon Favreau, Colin Farrell, and Michael Clarke Duncan. Let me rephrase that, I enjoyed the director’s cut of the film, which is Highly Recommended. But this new series is shaping up quite nicely.

Hey guys, Jana here,

Kryptonians

There’s a new comic book series on the horizon, and it doesn’t really even focus on one of our most loved heroes, but an ancestor of his. Where ‘Gotham‘ tells the stories of a crime-riddled city and it’s citizens, ‘Krypton‘ will focus on the planet and it’s inhabitants before Superman’s birth.
