Film Review: ‘Insidious: The Last Key’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jan 4th, 2018

If there’s anything that can be said about the Insidious franchise, it’s that they found a working formula and boy did they decide to stick with it.  This is the fourth installment of the film series and…well…it’s remarkably like the previous installments.  This is not necessarily a bad thing. If it ain’t broke, why fix it, right?  Still, I got much more déjà vu instead of déjà-new© out of this movie. With all that being said, it’s still a damn good sequel.

Hey guys, Jana here,

Insidious-4-Movie

Blumhouse is one of my favorite names when it comes to awesome scary movies and that name just popped up on the radar with another film sure to scare even the most stalwart film-goer. This company doesn’t just produce one-off horror flicks, they develop franchises and give us sequels that are every bit as awesome as the originals, some of these are ‘The Purge‘, ‘Ouija‘, ‘Paranormal Activity‘ and the ‘Insidious‘ powerhouse. The latter among these has got another installment headed our way with ‘Insidious: Chapter 4‘.

Film Review: ‘Insidious 3’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 4th, 2015

Fernando M., Here…

insidious-3-teaser

The “Insidious” franchise is a strange one.  The movies have developed a formula that they have successfully recreated now for a third time.  They are basically split into three parts; a) spooky haunting stuff, b) going into “the further” (the ghost realm) to confront the haunters, c) resolution.  The first film was pretty creepy throughout, albeit rarely truly terrifying.  The second film was a bit more action/adventure than it was horror.  This third installment took the same formula, and I dare say it’s the most fun of the trilogy.

Dallas Comic Con: ‘Insidious 3’: The 4D Experience!!

by Gumbercules9000 on May 29th, 2015

Hillary T., Here…

For someone who scares easily, the Insidious 4D experience was made for me. Actually, for a short ten minute trip through the small space it occupies, it’s a great scare. The tour manager Josh Randall found out that I scream like a girl, so he sent me in first.

Hello, Jana here,

LeighWhannell20312

Oh, we knew the fun wasn’t dead, yet. If ‘Insidious‘ and ‘Insidious 2‘ made some cash, of course ‘Insidious: Chapter 3‘ will bring in even more! It’s the math of Hollywood. Blumhouse Productions has put the writer responsible for ‘Saw‘ and ‘Insidious‘, Leigh Whannell to direct. Whannell wrote and acted in the first two chapters of ‘Insidious‘ but will be making his directorial debut with this venture. The film is set to drop April 3, 2015.

Short Snap Film Review: ‘Insidious 2’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 13th, 2013

Emily D., Here….

Insidious 2 trailer (Screengrab)

I was cautiously optimistic when I went to the screening of ‘Insidious 2‘. I’m a huge fan of Patrick Wilson as an actor and come on ladies, he’s pretty easy on the eyes but from the previews, the movie looked pretty cheesy. I’m sad to report that other than a few super intense, seat jumping scenes, it pretty much delivered on the silly slapstick type of horror one would expect.

THE INVISIBLE MAN – Film Review!

by Gumbercules9000 on Feb 26th, 2020

“The Invisible Man heads its way to one of the best horror films in years.”

Universal is revamping its classic monster franchise yet again with a new, fresh, original, and scary take on The Invisible Man by writer-director Leigh Whannell (Saw, Insidious). The film takes a different approach to this vintage tale with modern technology and its willingness to explore and invest in its characters more so than relying on redundant jump scares and silly plot tangents. Whannell takes this product seriously while having some fun with its sturdy foundation that H.G. Wells built all those years ago. The Invisible Man is a remarkable horror film that succeeds in every element of filmmaking.
