Hey guys, Jana here,

us_11-22-63_cover__span

I’ve been watching the progress of ‘11/22/63‘ on it’s journey from best-selling novel by the granddaddy of mystery/horror, author Stephen King, to its eventual transformation as an original series for Hulu. Today the JJ Abrams’ Bad Robot backed production has announced a director and the casting for several principal characters!

Actor Chris Cooper has just signed on to play Norman Osborn in the sequel to Marc Webb’sThe Amazing Spider-Man‘. Cooper joins the villains Electro (Jamie Foxx) and Rhino (Paul Giamatti) to fight Spidey this time. As of right now, we don’t know for sure if Cooper will turn into a villain in this film, but rest-assured, it will happen either at the very end or in the third sequel.

The Bishop Charlotte Reporting….

Two-time Oscar winner Dianne Weist (Rabbit Hole) is set and Oscar-winner Chris Cooper (American Beauty) is in talks to star in HBO’s new drama Corrections, based on Jonathan Franzen’s novel of the same name. The book is about an elderly Midwestern couple and their three adult children (yet to be cast), going through their lives from the mid-20th century to the present at Christmas. Christian Bale to Play Steve Jobs?!?!

by Bryan Kluger on Oct 15th, 2014

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

Steve-Jobs-Stamp

Don’t worry. If you were wanting more biopics about Steve Jobs, the founder of Apple Computers, then you’re in luck. Recently, Sony is making yet another Steve Jobs pic and as of a week or so ago, Leonardo DiCaprio was set to play Jobs. But talks fell through and DiCaprio is no longer set to star. But don’t fret, Sony has someone else in mind. And that person is a superhero.

Hey guys, Jana here,

chris-kyle-pic3

If there’s one thing I love more than a noir-crime film, it’s a realistic military pic. Tell me the film is about a legendary sniper from the US and I’m intrigued. I hear the name Chris Kyle – you have my full attention. I love America and I love our military. They do things that I wouldn’t want to do and make choices I could never make to keep our citizens safe. Damn right they have my full support.

A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD – Film Review!

by Bryan Kluger on Nov 18th, 2019

“If I could sum A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood up best for you, a boy about 10 years old gave it a standing ovation and it’s not exactly a kid’s movie.”

Mr. Rogers continues to charm on-screen with the newest installation in films that seem to capture the heart and soul of America’s childhood sweetheart in A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood. This film is a total 180 from last year’s Won’t You Be My Neighbor documentary which focused primarily on Rogers, as this film centers more on journalist Lloyd Vogel (Matthew Rhys) and the relationship he lacks with his father (Chris Cooper). It’s not what I was expecting, but I am not mad it’s what I got.

Film Review: ‘American Assassin’!

by Bryan Kluger on Sep 15th, 2017

Dan M. here…

You can’t make an action movie like this in 2017 and expect anyone to be impressed with it. Not when studios crank out Bourne, Bond, John Wick, Atomic Blonde, The Raid, etc. Those are movies that execute things at such a high level with passable stories that at least allow you to buy into the character. Hell, even Jack Reacher had some self-awareness to it that made the shrug-worthy, ridiculous, sequel mildly enjoyable. American Assassin is an all-around pretty bad movie but it does have a few bright spots. It honestly felt like the writers watched a Bourne movie, then got high, and played 3 hours of Call of Duty on easy difficulty before putting pen to paper.

Film Review: ‘Live By Night’!

by Bryan Kluger on Jan 11th, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here…

I’m a big fan of Ben Affleck. When he stepped into the director’s chair with ‘Gone Baby Gone‘, he showed the world that he was one hell of a filmmaker that had a strong passion for cinema and how it’s made. ‘The Town‘ was also a gritty crime caper that was well shot with excellent performances, which paved the way for Affleck to twin the Oscar for his best directed film to date – ‘Argo‘. When it was announced that Affleck was going to write, direct, and star in ‘Live By Night‘, a prohibition era gangster film with similarities to ‘Goodfellas‘ and HBO’s ‘Boardwalk Empire’, I was extremely excited, because Affleck had not led me astray with his films that he’s directed so far.

From 1958, Epping ventures on a quest to try and prevent the assassination of John F. Sony Announces ‘Amazing Spider-Man’ 3 & 4!!!

by Bryan Kluger on Jun 17th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here….

the-amazing-spider-man-film

I will be 37 years old in 2018. That is also the year that Sony will release the 4th installment of of ‘Amazing Spider-Man‘, with the third one being released in 2016. Now we have reported before that there were always going to be three films in this set of Spidey stories, but never a mention of a 4th film. However, Sony vice-chairman Jeff Blake announced the news today, as well as said, “Spider-Man is our most important, most successful, and most beloved franchise, so we’re thrilled that we are in a position to lock in these prime release dates over the next five years.”

Hi, Bryan Here….

The Toronto Film Festival is coming up quickly and it looks like it is going to be one for the books.  ‘Looper’ is going to open up the festival with several other centerpiece films that strike my fancy.  Two of them include Joss Whedon’s Shakespeare film ‘Much Ado About Nothing’, and Terrence Malick’s new film, ‘To The Wonder’.  Can’t wait.  Below is the official press release.  Who’s going? Piers Handling, CEO and Director of TIFF, and Cameron Bailey, Artistic Director of the Toronto International Film Festival, made the first announcement of films to premiere at the 37th Toronto International Film Festival. Films announced include titles in the Galas and Special Presentations programmes. The announced films include 17 Galas and 45 Special Presentations, including 38 world premieres.

Hi Bryan Here….

Julie Taymor is at it again with a Shakespearean play with ‘The Tempest’.  Taymor is known for directing ‘Titus’ and ‘Across the Universe’, and not to mention the recent failed attempt to bring Spider-man to the stage.  I have no doubt in my mind that Taymor’s ‘The Tempest’ will be a favorite amongst drama students, English majors, and Shakespeare fans.  Taymor’s visuals are stunning and breathtaking and the cast including Helen Mirren, Russell Brand, Chris Cooper, Djimon Hounsou, and Alan Cumming are all amazing here.  This is a complete  visual experience, and if you are a fan of style and magnificent visuals, then this is the film for you.

Hi Bryan Here….

So far we have seen the new and upcoming Muppet Movie spoof on Green Lantern, Hanover 2, and some generic romantic comedy, but now they have their own 2 and a half minute official trailer.  And it is glorious.  It was awesome seeing the Electric Mayhem bus again.  Plus a synopsis:  “When Walter, the world’s biggest Muppet fan, and friends Gary (Jason Segel) and Mary (Amy Adams) discover the nefarious plan of oilman Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) to raze the Muppet Theater, they help Kermit reunite the Muppets to stage The Greatest Muppet Telethon Ever and raise the $10 million needed to save the theater.”  The movie opens Thanksgiving time.  I can’t wait.  Enjoy the trailer.

Bryan’s Most Anticipated Films for 2011!!!

by Bryan Kluger on Jan 7th, 2011

Hi Bryan Here…

So 2010 is over and 2011 has just begun.  I was recently talking with a friend and we both agreed that 2010 was kind of a let down as far as movies went.  Don’t get me wrong, there were some precious gems riddled throughout the year, but they were not many.  Basically I said, that it was a very uncool year with flashes of coolness in regards to films.

This year I saw 102 new movies in 2018. That number is actual movies released in 2018. I count Netflix and streaming movies released this year because that is where we are heading but the majority of the 102 was in movie theaters. I decided not to rank my top movies this year because at the end of the day the difference between #10 thru #3 is usually based on my mood when I write the list. So I just put my top movies in ABC order.

It looks like ‘Mama Mia!‘ is getting the sequel treatment with ‘Mama Mia!: Here We Go Again‘ with everyone returning to their roles. It doesn’t look like Meryl Streep with be the main star here this time, but her and Cher will be seen in the movie. The first film was fun enough and the ABBA music still resonates, but I wonder what music group will be picked this time around. I just hope this isn’t a hasty rehash of the first film.

It will be the year 2018 in a couple short months, which bring in the New Year with tons of optimism, new slates, blossoming relationships, low-carb diets, and tons of new, exciting movies. Speaking of movies, Criterion has unveiled the first films they will release for 2018, starting in January, which looks like it’s gonna be BADASS! I mean, are we really getting ‘The Breakfast Club’ on Criterion? YES, yes we are. Does that mean we will get more John Hughes’ films in the future? Let’s hope so. Below you can read about each release.

4K UHD Review: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2!

by Bryan Kluger on Aug 16th, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

THE FILM

First off, my favorite Marvel Cinematic Universe film is ‘Guardians of the Galaxy‘. I love the weird, oddball, and sometimes anti-hero characters so much, the dialogue, and the feel of the whole movie, that I really connected to it and enjoyed it on every level. This group of heroes are not the norm and I relish in all their conflicts, endearing moments, and witty banter. That brings us to Vol. 2 that reunites all of our favorite characters as they go on missions to save the galaxy.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is coming to 4K UHD!

by Bryan Kluger on Jul 13th, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

I can’t believe it’s finally happening. Disney is releasing their first 4K UHD release with Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which couldn’t be a more perfect debut release in the new format. Disney has been holding out for a while now, while other studios have been releasing their new and vintage films in 4K. It was only a matter of time. There will be Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos included on the release as well, along with quite a few fun bonus features. You’ll be able to watch the film on digital platforms, starting August 8th, and purchase the actual 4K UHD Disc on August 22nd. So now I’m impatiently waiting for Disney to start announcing some vintage vault films and shows, re-releasing in 4K UHD. It’s only a matter of time, but expect my wallet to dwindle down with the following announcements.
