Director Robert Zemeckis has chosen his next project, and it’s gonna be an interesting one. The ‘Back to the Future‘ director has chosen to make a narrative film based on the real life 2010 documentary titled ‘Marwencol‘. If you didn’t get a chance to see this, I highly suggest you click the link below and purchase the documentary. It will blow your mind.

Robert Zemeckis is best known for directing the Back to the Future trilogy, Forest Gump, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and Cast Away.  Since Cast Away which was released back in 2000, he has moved to doing the 3-D animated motion capture films such as Beowulf, The Polar Express, and his most recent, A Christmas Carol.  He is currently working on Yellow Submarine.

It seems he wants to get back in to the live action production side of things.  The filmed that just got picked up by Warner Bros. is called “Timeless”.    Supposedly storylines are being kept quiet, but is said to be a mega budget time travel story.

Also, Zemeckis and his company have been talking about ideas to do another live action Superman film.  I would love to see Zemeckis dive into the DC universe and see what he creates.  Hell, his Christmas Carol had Jim Carrey flying all over LONDON, that I thought it was Superman for minute.

And of course as I mentioned earlier, the Roger Rabbit sequel is still on the table which you can read about HERE. So tons of cool films could possibly come to life through Zemeckis.

4K UHD Review: ‘Forrest Gump’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 12th, 2018

THE FILM

In 1986, author Winston Groom gave us the book ‘Forrest Gump‘, about a simple minded guy who accomplished a lot through his life, including running a shrimping boat and being an astronaut. That book was made into an award winning film called ‘Forrest Gump‘ that starred Tom Hanks as Gump and Robin Wright Penn, amongst other people. Even though there are many differences from the book, this adaptation that director Robert Zemeckis made was truly inspirational, emotional, and a lot of fun.

Film Review: ‘The Walk’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 30th, 2015

Janet W., Here…

the-walk-joseph-gordon-levitt

Fade to white and what appears to be Joseph Gordon-Levitt with blue eyes?  You guessed it that cute little boy from 3rd Rock from the Sun and 10 Things I Hate About You.  Recall in 10 Things I Hate About You when Gordon-Levitt’s character, Cameron, was pretending to teach French to his lady love, Bianca.  I guess Joe moved past that mumbling mess he tried to pass off as French.  Blue eyes are not the only addition, the French accent is thick and very Maurice Chevalier.  Don’t get me wrong.  I love the French language and accent.  I admit though that the appearance of Joe with these cosmetic changes at first was a little jarring.  Obviously, he is no longer the little boy I used to watch.  He slipped into the guise of Philippe Petit seemingly effortless to bring us The Walk

Hello, Jana here,

Meryl-Streep

There are a few names in Hollywood that can cherry-pick working conditions. Meryl Streep is among the very top of that list. Beginning her career in 1975 with a total of 74 projects in her resume, she has played every kind of character you can imagine. Her performances are moving, funny, realistic or greatly fantastical. No matter what film she’s in, she’s the top of my list of favorite actresses. I’m in high anticipation of what will surely be, another excellent musical performance in the film version of ‘Into The Woods‘.

Jana B. here,

To Reach The Clouds

Director Robert Zemeckis has a slew of successful movies to his name. Hits like the ‘Back To The Future‘ trilogy, ‘Forrest Gump‘, ‘Cast Away‘, ‘The Polar Express‘ and 2012’s ‘Flight‘. It stands to reason that whatever project he decides to work on will turn out prosperous. Looks like Zemeckis has selected his next project, the story of Philippe Petit, the French high wire artist and “the artistic crime of the century”.

Blu-Ray Review: ‘Flight’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 8th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here….

DVjw4vdEFaC6mm_1_l

Flight‘ is a huge and very warm welcome back for director Robert Zemeckis, who for more than a decade now has been making animated motion capture films including ‘A Christmas Carol‘ and ‘The Polar Express‘.  With ‘Flight‘, he is back where he belongs, with big stars and big set pieces.  I’ve really missed Zemeckis’s work over the last decade in the live action arena.  Zemeckis directed the ‘Back to the Future‘ films and ‘Forest Gump‘ to name a couple.  And now, with ‘Flight‘, Zemeckis has proven that he has not lost his touch in any way as this film provides amazing and heartfelt characters, one of the most thrilling plane crashes ever filmed, and beautiful photography.

Bryan’s Top 20 Films of 2012!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 31st, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

I can’t believe that 2012 is at its end and we are about to welcome 2013.  This year has gone by so fast, and man, did I see tons of films.  When I started making this 2012 list, I came up with 87 films that I enjoyed.  Yes, you read that right, 87, meaning there were probably just as many films that I didn’t enjoy.  Now, below is my top 20 of the year. I just couldn’t do it with 10 this year.  And these are films that I watched in the theater or at home and that don’t necessarily come out this year, but I did see this year.  And I’m sure I’ll get a lot of criticism for my list, but hey this is my list, not yours.  You can have your own.  But my lists tend to be different than most people’s as you can tell from my previous lists HERE. So without any further delay, below is my TOP 20 films for 2012.

Hi Bryan Here…

Director Robert Zemeckis is in early talks with his co-writer Bob Gale and the film’s composer Alan Silvestri to get ‘Back to the Future’ on Broadway as a stage show according to Deadline.  I believe they are talking about it being a musical, which is awesome.  Imagine the ‘Johnnie B Good’ number.  That could be excellent.  And all the 80’s and 50’s music.   This could be great.

Trailer Analysis – Catch .44

by Justin Cline on Nov 20th, 2011

After watching this trailer, my question is this:  is Catch .44 really a movie?  Or is it an ad for a new game show entitled Mexican Stand-off, where each contestant is given a deadly weapon and a disturbing piece of info about one or more of their fellow contestants before being pushed into a room with them? Tintin Pictures Finally Emerge Online!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Nov 1st, 2010

Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson have finally lifted the curtain on the first real pictures of their epic big budget film, Tintin based on the comic.  They chose Empire Online to unveil these pictures.

It seems judging by the pictures that this technology is far superior than what is used on the Zemeckis CG films such as The Polar Express.  Tintin is looking more realistic and less cartoony.

Before Michael J. F ox got the job on Back to the Future, Eric Stoltz was in the role of Marty McFly.  He shot five weeks in that role, and ended up being fired.

The video has director Robert Zemeckis and Steven Spielberg talking about the decision on why they decided to get Michael J. Fox.  Hope this is on the future bluray release of the Back to the Future trilogy.

Roger Rabbit 2 Might Happen For Real This Time

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 21st, 2010

Director Robert Zemeckis has been talking for years now on making the sequel to Who Framed Roger Rabbit.  In April of 2009 Zemeckis said he had a great idea for the sequel and in July of 2010 he said he has been discussing the sequel plans with original actor Bob Hoskins and also revealed that the original screenwriters were currently writing the script.

Hoskins said:

“‘Zemekis said he’s going to do it like a Christmas Carol, but I’m 67 years old! I’ll look like a cartoon at that point! If they do it, I’m in!’”

Also, a newly uncovered 1998 test which turned Roger Rabbit into a computer animated character in the live-action world. The test footage is below.

I would love a sequel to Roger Rabbit.
