Fox Bringing back King of the Hill?

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 8th, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

Is Fox finally doing something right? They just might be. Over the past few years, the Fox network has been brining back older TV shows and reviving them with mostly the original cast. We saw it with ‘24‘, ‘X-Files‘, and ‘Prison Break‘, all of which were just on the side of being below average. Now it seems Fox is wanting to revive an actual good show for once with King of the Hill. The CEO of Fox has had talks with creator Mike Judge and Greg Daniels about bringing the show back for more seasons.

Hi, Bryan Here….

HBO has picked up a project to goto pilot called ‘Silicon Valley‘, the brainchild from ‘King of the Hill‘ and ‘Beavis and Butthead‘ creator Mike Judge.  His creative team John Altschuler, Dave Krinsky, and Scott Rudin will all produce.  John, Dave, and Mike wrote the pilot, which is set in, you guessed it Silicon Valley.  The show will center on a group of people who work in the technology sector of a company where the most qualified people succeed are the least capable of handling their success according to Deadline.

DOWNHILL – Film Review!

by Gumbercules9000 on Feb 12th, 2020

“Downhill is highly enjoyable.”

Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Will Ferrell head to the mountains in Austria for a fun ski-vacation with their two kids in Downhill, which is an American remake from the 2014 Swedish film Force Majeure. While being skeptical about this American version is rational and justified, Downhill is different and original enough to stand completely on its own and acts more like a sibling film to the original. Thanks to the writing/directing team of Jim Rash and Nat Faxon (The Way Way Back), Downhill is highly enjoyable and tackles a few family issues in its short-run time of 80 minutes with a brilliant performance from Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

Hey guys, Jana here,

Scream Factory presents ‘Misery‘ in a 2-disc collector’s edition Blu-ray set that will arrive November 28, 2017. From the chilling mind of Stephen King, ‘Misery‘ is based on his novel of the same name. If you’ve read the story, you wince at the thought of Annie Wilkes with an axe, but if you’ve watched the movie, you’ve cringed when you think of  Kathy Bates with a sledgehammer. A role that will lead Bates to accept an Academy Award for her off-center portrayal of the crazed #1 fan, Annie Wilkes.

by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 14th, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan here…

beverly-hills-cop-4-release-date-570x294

The ‘Beverly Hills Cop‘ franchise seems to be never ending, or at least never getting up off the ground. That being said, it looks like a 4th film with Eddie Murphy is finally gaining steam once again. We’ve seen this before. Hell, we’ve seen a TV series try to take off, but never happen with this franchise. Maybe this time, it will actually happen, and we will get the Detroit cop back in California once again, solving a crime.

He is attached to the script for the adaptation of King’s legendary ‘The Dark Tower‘ which has been making some progress, attaching actors at this point. Goldman has just signed on to adapt ‘Doctor Sleep‘, the long anticipated sequel to King’s chiller ‘The Shining‘.

Hillary Thomas’ Top 5 Films and Best TV Shows of 2015!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 29th, 2015

Hillary T., Here…

Best2015_660

As a writer for Boomstick Comics, we are charged with going to see a lot of movies. I thought that this past year, I saw quite a few. Apparently, with the opening of the Alamo Drafthouse in Richardson, the movies I saw this past year weren’t all new. There were some that were classic programming at a new venue. What can I say? James Wallace knows that I like (“Sixteen Candles”, “Aliens”, “Big Trouble In Little China”, “True Grit”, and “Conan” just to name a few), but I did see a “Few Good Movies.”
