Hey guys, Jana here,

Matt Damon-MTO-009587

It looks like Legendary East, the Chinese branch of Legendary Entertainment is finally moving forward in a project they’ve been eager to get to when the company hung out its shingle 2 years ago. ‘The Great Wall‘ is set in 15th century China revolving around an elite force of British warriors who come across the quickened construction of the giant wall. Soon enough the soldiers learn that a wall isn’t only to keep out the Mongols, but will be the setting of a last stand against mythical creatures who are more dangerous with how inhuman they are.

Hey guys, Jana here,

jason-bourne-and-aaron-cross

Few films can weave a storyline around so many actors and cities and still be a huge draw at the box office, I’m giving you the news about one of them today. The series I’m talking about are the Jason Bourne films, starring Matt Damon. We started with ‘The Bourne Identity‘ in 2002, then ‘The Bourne Supremacy’ in 2004, followed by ‘The Bourne Ultimatum‘ in 2007. In 2012, Damon stood aside and cheered Jeremy Renner on as he made the character of Aaron Cross, uniquely his own, with ‘The Bourne Legacy‘. Renner brings to life another character from the expansive world  that writer Robert Ludlum has created that both characters, and a score of others live in.

Hi everyone, Bryan here…

It looks like Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are brining back ‘Project Greenlight‘ to HBO. If you don’t remember, ‘Project Greenlight‘ was a reality show where Ben Affleck and Matt Damon searched for new filmmakers and writers, ultimately giving the winner a chance to make their own film and distribute it. The show followed the entire filmmaking process. I believe there were only three seasons of this show with the first two seasons revolving around two indie drama films. One of them starred Shia Lebouf and Amy Smart. The third season was the best as they went with a fun balls-to-the-wall horror film with tons of gore. That movie was called ‘Feast‘ and spawned several sequels. It was directed by John Gulager, the son of Clu Gulager. Official press release below.

Hi, Bryan Here….

2013-mostanticipated-monumentsmen-full

Sony has just released the first trailer for their new film ‘The Monuments Men‘, which takes place during WWII. George Clooney directs and stars in this picture alongside Matt Damon, Bill Murray, John Goodman, Bob Balaban, and Cate Blanchett. The movie is about a special squad formed by FDR that was tasked with going into Nazi Germany and rescuing priceless works of art and artifacts that were stolen by the Nazis. The kicker is, that this rag-tag group of guys are museum curators, historians, and directors. Not necessarily soldiers.

Hi, Bryan Here….

Warner Bros. is developing a film called ‘Race to the South Pole’, which is a true story of two people in the early 1900s who want to be the first person to reach the South Pole, the last uncharted place on the globe.  The two guys in question are Robert Falcon Scott and Roald Amundsen, who are from different countries.  They were seen as heroes of their time and it gained national attention to see who would make to the SouthPole first. And Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are producing the film with Casey Affleck, Ben’s brother attached star.

Matt Damon to Sit Down in the Director’s Chair!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 20th, 2011

The Bishop Charlotte Reporting….

Matt Damon has been looking for a good project to make his directorial debut for a long time, and he may have finally found it. He and John Krasinski (The Office) have written a screenplay reminiscent of Erin Brockovich that they will also star in. No title or detailed plot summary yet.

Since we found out  Tony Gilroy would be directing and writing The Bourne Legacy, were were wondering if Matt Damon would return as the hero Jason Bourne since he was quoted as saying in interviews that he would only make another Bourne film if Paul Greengrass would return to direct.

Gilroy was interviewed the other day and he said:

“It’s a completely original screenplay….This is not a reboot or a recast or a prequel. No one’s replacing Matt Damon. There will be a whole new hero, a whole new chapter…this is a stand-alone project.”

“The easiest way to think of it is an expansion or a reveal…Jason Bourne will not be in this film, but he’s very much alive. What happened in the first three films is the trigger for what happens. I’m building a legend and an environment and a wider conspiracy…the world we’re making enhances and advances and invites Jason Bourne’s return [down the road].”

So why even make a Bourne film?  REALLY?  Call it something different.  Or are they just going to use the Bourne name to capitalize profit?

Does not make sense to me.

Your thoughts?  Has anybody read the book in question?

Blu-ray Review: ‘Atomic Blonde’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Nov 9th, 2017

THE FILM

This film portion is written by Dan Moran.

Atomic Blonde isn’t a perfect movie. It has an overly complex plot and is about 20 minutes longer than it needs to be, but all of that is overcome by some of the best action sequences in recent memory with an absolutely badass performance by Charlize Theron.

Film Review: ‘The Great Wall’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Feb 17th, 2017

Fernando M., here….

Screen Shot 2017-02-17 at 8.48.27 AM

This is a bad year for walls. ‘The Great Wall‘ easily wins the “biggest misnomer of the year” award. Should have gone with the title “This Wall, It’s OK I Guess.” What the hell went wrong with this picture?  The setup is great, which is “We use the Great Wall of China as a backdrop for a fantasy film about monsters.”  There’s a parable about monsters and greed and containment and human evil, but really, it’s all about monsters attacking the Great Wall of China.  On this premise alone, it sounds like a lot of fun, and it really could have been.

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

When Ben Affleck isn’t making the next Boston crime movie or saying “Yes” to a cameo role in Kevin Smith’s latest direct-to-video film, he’s reading comic books with Matt Damon and deciding on which next Hollywood starlet to take out for a steak dinner and never call again. The guy is a badass in every sense of the word. There’s nothing he can’t do. I’m just surprised he doesn’t have an EGOT yet. You can say a lot of things about Affleck, but you can’t say he doesn’t know when to say “no”. Affleck announced today that he will be stepping down from his role as director in the upcoming ‘Batman‘ film for Warner Bros., where he will indeed be playing Batman once again.

Film Review: ‘Jason Bourne’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jul 27th, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan here…

Jason-Bourne-2

Hey now. Matt Damon is back as Jason Bourne in the new film that is simply titled, ‘Jason Bourne‘, which teams up Damon and director Paul Greengrass once again for the spy thriller who seems to never remember who he is or where he came from. In addition to the usual losing sight of Jason Bourne, then spotting him in a big crowd, to losing him once again, the writers added HBO’sSilicon Valley‘ show to the element without all of the fun or comedy. I’ll get to that in a minute though.
