In a not unusual move, scheduling conflicts have cropped up on the set for ‘Freeheld‘. Zach Galifianakis was originally on tap to play the male lead in the film based on a documentary about domestic partner benefits. The furry, funny man had to step down due to other commitments, making way for Steve Carell to step into the vacated position. The docu followed the story of Laurel Hester and Stacie Andree as the pair fought to amend the Domestic Partnership Act, which would grant pension benefits to domestic partners of all New Jersey public employees. Ellen Page and Julianne Moore are under contract to play the couple.

Hi, Bryan Here….

Here is the trailer for ‘The Campaign’ Starring Will Ferrell, Zack Galifianakis, Jason Sudeikis, Katherine LaNasa, Dylan McDermott, John Lithgow, Dan Aykroyd, and Brian Cox.  The film is directed by Jay Roach (Austin Powers).  Official Synopsis: When long-term congressman Cam Brady (Will Ferrell) commits a major public gaffe before an upcoming election, a pair of ultra-wealthy CEOs plot to put up a rival candidate and gain influence over their North Carolina district. Their man: naive Marty Huggins (Zach Galifianakis), director of the local Tourism Center. At first, Marty appears to be the unlikeliest possible choice but, with the help of his new benefactors’ support, a cutthroat campaign manager and his family’s political connections, he soon becomes a contender who gives the charismatic Cam plenty to worry about.  Enjoy.

Film Review: ‘Keeping Up With the Joneses’!!

by Janet White on Oct 21st, 2016

Hello Everyone, Janet W. here…

keeping-up-jones-gaffneys

Everyone gets suspicious when new neighbors move into the neighborhood. However, when the new neighbors, Tim and Natalie Jones (Jon Hamm and Gal Gadot), are super hot, then what? Sweet suburban couple, Jeff and Karen Gaffney (Zach Galifianakis and Isla Fisher), is immediately fascinated. Can you blame them? The Gaffneys’ lives are quite mundane despite the fact that their children are away at camp. The Joneses are chic, publicly affectionate, and suspiciously nice. The Gaffneys will never be the same again. Read the rest of this entry »

The ‘Lego Batman‘ movie is moving full steam ahead and they’ve got one hell of a cast assigned to the flick, already, but more casting info is still coming in. We gave you the rundown of the latest who’s who that you can read about here. In addition to the already star-studded cast, we’ve got one more for you today and that is who’s going to be voicing Commissioner Gordon and you’re never gonna believe who it is!

*******UPDATE*******

So it looks like Commissioner Gordon will NOT have the voice of this particular angel, but it looks like Carey will be the mayor of Gotham. I wonder if the creators are going to model this character after her voice, and if so – how naked will she be?

Film Review: ‘Birdman’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 22nd, 2014

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

and-the-oscar-goes-to-could-birdman-be-the-first-superhero-movie-nominated-for-best-picture

It’s a very rare occurrence where a film changes the game on almost every aspect of filmmaking. From acting to camerawork, ‘Birdman‘ literally soars above the rest where fierce emotions of erratic actors are put on display in a chaotic yet darkly comedic setting inside the St. James Theatre on West 44th Street in Manhattan. Not only do these actors turn in Oscar-worthy performances of the highest order, but director Alejandro G. Inarritu (Amores Perros) and cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki have given us an image so fresh and that pushes the bounds, that this is one of the most pleasing films of the year, visually speaking and unlike anything you might have seen before. Lubezki has worked with Alfonso Cauron on ‘Children of Men‘ and the recent film ‘Gravity‘.

Film Review: ‘Are You Here’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 22nd, 2014

Janet W., Here…

areyouhere-zachgalifianakis-owenwilson-amypoehler

Are You Here is the question that should have been asked of the filmmakers.  Normally, I would start with an overview of the film, but let’s get right to the critique.  The plot was unclear and disjointed along with the dialogue. The lack of linear flow in the telling of this story of friendship and family and how they can be interwoven is to blame.  Have you ever loved a friend so much that they were like family?  Were you able to distinguish between helping them and enabling them?  It appears that this may have been the goal the screenwriters were aiming to showcase.  However, random sequences like Dallas’ seemingly endless sexcapdes, Baker’s fast-framed stoner frenzy, and a constant array of buck-naked women that the viewers have to see from head to toe distracts from the narrative.  Sex still sells, I guess.  The film ends in such an abrupt way that the audience is left thinking, “Why have I just sat through all this?”  On top of it all, the film is way too long (8 minutes shy of 2 hours), but really didn’t get anywhere.

Blu-ray Review: ‘Muppets Most Wanted’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 14th, 2014

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

MuppetsMostWantedBlurayCombo_jpg_rgb

THE FILM

It’s very difficult to find a sequel that’s as good as the original. There aren’t a lot out there that are great sequels, but when they do come along, they are remembered forever. And maybe what worked so well for the first Muppet film that starred Jason Segel and Amy Adams is that it had a human element to it, and didn’t just follow the Muppets around. That’s not to say that this sequel ‘Muppets: Most Wanted‘ isn’t a lot of fun and very entertaining. It is, but it doesn’t have that magic that the last one had.

Michael Keaton in ‘Birdman’ Is AWESOME!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 12th, 2014

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

image001_(4)

Michael Keaton is one of the best actors of the last century and was completely robbed of an Oscar for his role as ‘Beetlejuice‘. He’s proved countless times that his talent knows no bounds. His new film is called ‘Birdman‘ and looks all sorts of awesome. In the film, Keaton plays an actor who is famous for playing a superhero. He is now trying to book a gig on Broadway. In the days leading up to opening night, he battles his ego as this superhero to get back his sanity, career, and family.

Emily D., Here…..

the_hangover_part_3_movie-wide

I, like many others, was super excited when word broke that they were coming out with ‘The Hangover Part II‘ and I was also very anxious to know if they were going to keep with the theme of the movie and do a wake-up and a blackout. That part didn’t bother me. Where I was a bit dumbfounded was the fact that Stu was marrying some Asian girl who had no relevance to the story line. After having seen the movie, I had hoped they would pick up where they left off to lead into Part II to have some sort of explanation as to who this girl is that Stu is marrying. Was he originally supposed to marry the Stripper (Heather Graham’s character)? And the Asian girl was her bridesmaide. Something along those lines.

Hi, Bryan Here….

wallpaper-bored-to-death-season-2-1600

Good news, everyone! HBO is bringing back ‘Bored To Death‘ as a theatrical film, which they have already put into the development stages with series creator Jonathan Ames set to write.  ‘Bored To Death‘ had three seasons before not receiving a renewal back in 2011, which made me sad, because it was an amazing and hilarious show that starred ‘Jason Schwartzman, Zach Galifianakis and Ted Danson.  It was a big cult hit and had a sizable loyal following, but not enough to air more seasons.

Hi, Bryan Here….

Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures are reteaming with Todd Phillips for “The Hangover Part III,” the third installment in the record-breaking comedy franchise, which is slated for release on May 24, 2013. The announcement was made today by Jeff Robinov, President Warner Bros. Pictures Group.“The Hangover Part III” will star Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis, who will reprise the roles of Phil, Stu and Alan, collectively known to moviegoers as “the Wolfpack.” In the previous two films, the three friends’ attempts to plan a celebration have resulted in disaster for them, but led to a combined billion-dollar success at the worldwide box office.

‘Hangover 3’ Set to Begin Filming Very Soon!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jan 26th, 2012

Hi Bryan Here….

Well negotiations are just about done to get filming started on the third ‘Hangover’ movie.  This has been going on for a few months due to the big salary demands for the three actors; Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis, and Bradley Cooper.  Supposedly they are asking for $15 million each plus backend money.  As the dealings are just about wrapped up, they are most likely going to receive what they are asking.

Hi Bryan Here….

IFC has picked up two new scripted comedy series, ‘Comedy Bang! Bang!’ and ‘Bunk’. Both have received orders for 10 episodes to premiere back-to-back in June as a one-hour original comedy block.  From my guess, with the somewhat success of ‘Portlandia’, IFC is getting more into the original programming.  But by the sounds of these two new series, I don’t see them lasting very long.

Hi Bryan Here….

Jonathan Ames, a young Brooklyn writer, is feeling lost. He’s just gone through a painful break-up, thanks in part to his drinking, can’t write his second novel, and carouses too much with his magazine editor. Rather than face reality, Jonathan turns instead to his fantasies moonlighting as a private detective because he wants to be a hero and a man of action.
