Hey guys, Jana here,

twilightzone-the-twilight-zone-oscars-jpeg-29279

Lately, there has been a rash of remakes  of our favorite television series being adapted to feature films, but not too many that are simply re-making a TV series as another TV series. One that is doing that in recent memory is ‘Star Trek‘. CBS is planning to give us another incarnation of that beloved franchise that began in 1966 and has occasionally sprouted a new series while clinging to the rules and locations of the past. As of today, ‘Star Trek‘ isn’t alone, for this another show that will join it in this whole remake genre – ‘The Twilight Zone‘.

Film Review: ‘Everybody Wants Some’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Apr 6th, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

everybody-wants-some-image1

In my mind, Richard Linklater can do no wrong. He is one of the best filmmakers working today and he continues do break ground with iconic films that will forever be seared into our memory. Recently, his film ‘Boyhood‘ garnered a ton of awards and was a milestone in filmmaking as he took twelve years to film the story of a boy growing up around his broken family. It was one of the best movies of that year. From ‘School of Rock‘ to ‘Bernie‘ to ‘Slacker‘ to the ‘Before‘ trilogy – we’ve seen Linklater grow as a filmmaker and deliver excellent characters and great soundtracks over the years. Perhaps his best known or cult favorite film was from 23 years ago, which of course was ‘Dazed and Confused‘.

Film Review: ‘I’ll Follow You Down’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on May 22nd, 2014

Fernando M., Here…

ill_follow_you_down_ver2_xlg

Have you ever watched one of those movies that you really wished was going to be good, and then it just wasn’t?  It’s a movie that makes you wish you could go back in time, make a few creative changes, maybe hire a different cinematographer, and perhaps it could have been a film you could watch in theaters.  “I’ll Follow You Down” is more akin to an episode of “The Outer Limits” or “The Twilight Zone,” but not the good Rod Serling original Twilight Zone, but rather the version that came out in the 2000’s.

DIFF 2014 Film Review: ‘The One I Love’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Apr 7th, 2014

Hi, Bryan Here….

the_one_i_love_sundance_film_still_a_l

Director Charlie McDowell and writer Justin Lader are newcomers to the film world, and with their incredible movie ‘The One I Love‘, I expect big, bright futures for the both of them. I left the theater with a big smile on my face and couldn’t believe how much I enjoyed what I just saw on-screen. It took me back to the first time I saw my first ‘Twilight Zone‘ episode, and how much that transformed me into wanting to make movies and write mini-scripts with my dad’s old dinosaur video camera that sat on my small shoulder.

Film Review: ‘Inside Llewyn Davis’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 17th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here….

inside-llewyn-davis-oscar-isaac

The Coen Bros. have knocked it out of the park yet again with their latest film ‘Inside Llewyn Davis‘. Although, I don’t think this will have the big box office draw that ‘O Brother Where Art Thou?‘ or ‘No Country For Old Men‘ had, but I expect people to be talking about this film for months to come and singing the impressive soundtrack, which was produced by T Bone Burnett. In the scale of things, this is a very small film set in the New York folk music scene in the early 60s. In true Coen Bros. fashion, the mood is darkly funny, and follows a man, who tries to find himself later in life through his music. I can’t recommend this film enough.

Film Review: ‘Not Fade Away’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jan 8th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here….

David Chase, mostly known for being the creator and show-runner on HBO‘s ‘The Sopranos‘, marks his first feature film directorial debut with ‘Not Fade Away‘.  I didn’t know what quite to expect from this coming of age film that relies heavy on music of the 50s and 60s as well as political and social issues to further the story, but from  what the trailer showcased, I expected more of a ‘That Thing You Do!‘ type of film, which chronicled the rise and fall of a local band to fame and fortune.  That is not the case with ‘Not Fade Away‘.  Instead we get something a little more in the way of growing up in turbulent times and dealing with change. By all means, Chase made a solid film, but it is not without its flaws.

Bluray/DVD Picks For The 3rd Week Of February!!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Feb 15th, 2011

Hi Bryan Here…

Some pretty great classic titles this week, but a fairly weak new release week.  But  I love the heavy classic title weeks.  It gives me a chance to watch some excellent filmmaking and remember all the films I saw when I was younger.  And the best is, that most of them have the HI-DEF treatment, so it is like watching the movie for the first time.  Some great titles.  Classic Titles.

As usual, you will get some info about the disc and the extras that come with the movie as well as a personal opinion about the movie and a link to purchase the film over at AMAZON where you can save quite a bit of money, and it will give a small percentage kick back to this site so we can continue bringing you excellent stories and sales.
