4K UHD Review: Wonder Woman!
Hi everyone, Bryan here….
THE FILM
The Warner Bros./DC Comics Cinematic Universe has been trying to get off its feet for a while now with no success, besides some decent box office money. However, most people would tell you that the new DC Comics‘ films are just not up to par with their rivals over at Marvel for many reasons. These people would be right. Perhaps one of the best moments of Batman v Superman was in fact Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. It was just a shame she only had a few minutes of screen time in that film. The rest was mostly trash. Luckily, Warner Bros. and DC Comics decided to finally make a Wonder Woman movie, which is the first superhero film to feature a female superhero as its main protagonist, as well with a female director with Patty Jenkins. The result is satisfying, making Wonder Woman a damn good film with a few flaws.

Wonder Woman 4K UHD and Blu-ray Announced!
Hi everyone, Bryan here….
Perhaps the biggest movie of the summer and the one film to get DC and Warner Bros. back on track with their superhero films – WONDER WOMAN, is coming to 4K UHD, Blu-ray, 3D Blu-ray, and DVD. Warner is sure milking this for all its worth, since they are also releasing a 3D version of the film, even though 3D is dead in the water. The 4K UHD is the way to go for sure here if you have the right equipment. You can own the movie digitally as soon as August 29th, and you’ll be able to purchase the Blu-ray, 4K, 3D, and DVD on September 19th. There are tons of bonus features as well, which I can’t wait to watch. Official information below.

Film Review #3: Wonder Woman!
Hey guys, my name is Josey and I’m an avid comic book reader and Wonder Woman fanatic.
My love for Wonder Woman began with DC’s New 52 Wonder Woman story told by Brian Azzarello and Cliff Chiang. I was always aware of the character Wonder Woman but reading the comics opened my eyes to her world filled with fantastical elements of Greek mythology with underlying moral and ethical conflicts. To me, she represented compassion, love, strength, and courage. Wonder Woman is confident and anyone who tests her will quickly find out they were wrong to do so.

In our 41st episode, titled ‘We are all Wonder Woman‘, where we talk about the new Wonder Woman film. the new Castlevania TV series, The Rock, and the new Pirates film. It was so much fun. This episode is guaranteed to thrill you, chill you, and fulfill you. I am joined pop-culture wizard Jonathan Atterbury and comic book artist Jeremy Megert.

Film Review #2: Wonder Woman!
Dan M., here….
Let’s cut to the chase, Wonder Woman is great and one of the best modern superhero origin movies ever made. It deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as the original Superman, Batman Begins, Iron Man, etc. It is a nearly flawless introduction to a truly interesting character who cannot only carry her own film but will hopefully help carry future DC films the way Iron Man does with Marvel ones.

The New ‘Wonder Woman’ Trailer is Here!
Hi everyone, Bryan here….
There is a brand new ‘Wonder Woman‘ trailer, starring Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman with Patty Jenkins directing. Jenkins directed ‘Monster‘ a while ago and hasn’t done too much since then. The trailer looks good for sure, but we’ve been misled before by DC Comics on numerous films. So I’ll say, I definitely have low low hopes for this being any good, but I hope for the opposite. The film comes out on June 2nd, 2017.
Media-Ocrity Ep. 20 – ‘Wonder Woman’, ‘Boba Fett’, ‘Skyrim: Remastered’!
Hi everyone, Bryan here…

This episode is guaranteed to thrill you, chill you, and fulfill you. I am joined pop-culture wizard Jonathan Atterbury and comic book artist Jeremy Megert.

Media-Ocrity #6 – DC Comics, Wonder Woman, and The 7th Gate of Hell!
Hi everyone, Bryan here…
This is the 6th episode of the newest podcast under the MULTI-MEDIA MEN banner called ‘Media-Ocrity‘, where the show is just – okay. Here on the show, we focus strictly on horror/sci-fi, comic books, and video games – basically all the fun stuff that tickles your fancy. Enjoy The Trailer For ‘Wonder Woman’!!!
Hey guys, Jana here,
San Diego Comic Con brings out the best and the most recent in entertainment and comic book worlds, this news is a bit of both. We got to peek at the new poster for the upcoming ‘Wonder Woman’ film from DC Comics, yesterday thanks to star Gal Gadot’s Tweet. Today, we get the first trailer!
Take A Look At The Poster For The ‘Wonder Woman’ Movie!!!
Hey guys, Jana here,
We know a standalone ‘Wonder Woman‘ movie has been in the works for quite some time, we don’t have a plot to the film, yet, but we know her history. The Amazonian princess-warrior Diana left her lush tropical island to dwell in our urban cityscapes of glass and steel. Tutored in the ways of the Greek warriors, and outfitted with incredible gifts the Goddess bestowed upon her people, she becomes Paradise Island’s emissary to civilization.
Here is Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman!!
Hi everyone, Bryan Here….
Director Zack Snyder just revealed Gal Gadot in the Wonder Woman costume for his upcoming ‘Batman vs. Superman‘ film that has Ben Affleck as Batman and Henry Cavill returning as Superman. What do you think?
Wonder Woman TV Show Cancelled!!
Hi, Bryan Here…
It seems that Wonder Woman just can’t get any love these days. Joss Whedon tried rebooting Wonder Woman several years ago, but that didn’t go anywhere and the CW announced earlier last year that the DC superhero would get her own show called ‘Amazon’, which was a prequel in the vein of ‘Smallville‘ that showcased a young Wonder Woman discovering her powers.
Warner Bros. Has Cast Wonder Woman!!!
Hi, Bryan Here….
So we have Ben Affleck as Batman and Henry Cavill returning as Superman for the ‘Man of Steel‘ sequel called ‘Batman vs. Superman‘. And now they have their Wonder Woman, who I guess will also be a big part of the story. And Wonder Woman will be played by Gal Gadot. Gadot hasn’t done much, but she is a main player in a few of the ‘Fast and Furious‘ films where she plays Gisele.
NBC Flies With David E. Kelley’s Wonder Woman Tv Pilot!!!!
Hi Bryan Here….
If you remember, a month or so ago, NBC did NOT like David E. Kelley’s pilot to Wonder Woman, but since Comcast is part of GE/NBC now, the new Comcast/NBC has ordered Wonder Woman to pilot.
Guess Who’s Bringing Wonder Woman to TV Series??
Wonder Woman is coming back to your TV sets sooner than later. It will be difficult to replace Lynda Carter. She had the iconic look and shape that just defined Wonder Woman.
Well writer, creator, producer David E. Kelley of Boston Legal and Ally McBeal fame will be returning to the TV airwaves and bringing us a reboot of Wonder Woman.
A while ago, Joss Whedon was set to direct a big screen Wonder Woman film that took place during the WW2 era, but it never got off the ground.
No details on to what timeline Wonder Woman will take place. I wonder if Kelley wants to do a Smallville-esque tv show but for Wonder Woman. Maybe Wonder Woman will be a lawyer. Who knows.
Your thoughts?
Professor Marston and The Wonder Women Looks Good!
Hi everyone, Bryan here….
With perfect timing since DC’s Wonder Woman film is doing outstanding both financially and critically, we are getting a film about the creation of the iconic character. The film is called Professor Marston and The Wonder Women, which is a true story of what inspired the Harvard psychologist Dr. William Moulton Marston to create Wonder Woman in the 1940s.
Behold! Terrence Malick’s ‘To The Wonder’ Trailer!!!
Hi, Bryan Here….
Over the past several days, you might have noticed the site has not been updated. No need to worry, everything is fine, and I appreciate all of the emails asking what’s been going on. I’ve had a bad cold since last week, which has left my head feeling like it was submerged in black tar and repeatedly beating by mega ton hammers. So today, is the first day I have felt well enough to even get out a sentence on the computer. Hopefully tomorrow, I’ll be back to 100%. – – On to the cool news. Terrence Malick‘s new film ‘To The Wonder‘ has finally got a trailer and it looks very Malick-y.
4K UHD Review: ‘Justice League’!
THE FILM
(This film portion was written by Dan Moran)
There are several things about Justice League that are good. I think the cast is terrific. Gal Gadot, Ben Affleck, Jason Momoa, and Ezra Miller are great in their roles. They each have a character moment (earned or not) that makes me interested in seeing their next solo adventure. DC/WB has put some talented filmmakers in charge of the next slate of movies. Justin Lin doing Aquaman sounds great, Patty Jenkins taking Wonder Woman on her next adventure, and Matt Reeves writing and directing The Batman. These are world-class filmmakers who have a great actor in the title role and hopefully that leads to some great story telling. I have no idea who is directing The Flash but I did enjoy him as the comic relief character in Justice League and would like to see if he is more than that in the future. Even Henry Cavill’s “new” Superman was delightful as he is reborn in this film and is no longer a whiney douchebag with terrible parents. Man of Steel 2 is actually on my radar now! But those are the nicest things I can say about Justice League. I loved the cast and I look forward to their solo adventures because having them all together in whatever Justice League was/is/supposed to be was a horrific insult to the fans of DC and moviegoers in general.
Watch The Red Band Trailer For ‘Super Troopers 2’ Right Meow
Hey guys, Jana here,
If you’re like me and have been waiting 17 freaking years for the sequel of ‘Super Troopers‘, one of the most irreverent, hilarious, cop movies of all time, the wait is almost over, my friends. No green band trailer for you guys, I’m giving it to you dirty, just like you’ll get in the theater on April 20, 2018.
‘Justice League’ is flying onto 4K UHD and Blu-ray!
Warner Bros. and DC Comics are bringing the big action superhero film ‘Justice League‘ to 4K UHD and Blu-ray very soon. In fact, you’ll be able to watch the film digitally on February 13th, then you’ll be able to purchase the 4K UHD and Blu-ray with an option of 3D on March 13th. Dolby Vision, HDR10, and Dolby Atmos are all included on this release, along with a plethora (What is a plethora?) of bonus features, including behind-the scenes and deleted scenes not watched in theaters.
Dan Moran’s Top 12 Movies of 2017 Plus Extras!
I saw 75 movies this year and I still have 3-4 left to finish up over the next few weeks. I haven’t seen The Post, Call Me By Your Name, or Phantom Thread yet. Phantom Thread is the only regret I have but it doesn’t come out until mid-January and I like to finish my list before first week of January ends. A few special awards before my top 12.
Jana’s Best of 2017!!!
Hey guys, Jana here,
I know these “Best of 2017” lists should technically be published in 2017, but why would I start 2018 any differently than I lived the majority of my adult life: Procrastinating and underachieving. What can I say? That’s my wheelhouse.
For a year that put a spotlight on some of the shittiest behavior by some of the Hollywood elite, it was actually a good year for TV and movies. I didn’t limit myself in number because as I moved on with the brackets, I felt like I was making ‘Sophie’s Choice‘ on some of these, so they’re all getting in! I’m feeling my inner-Oprah here, You’ve made the list! You made the list! EVERYBODY made the list!! In order to spare myself any arguments, I’m stating up front that my picks for the “Best of 2017” are not edited in regards to scandal or hideous human behavior.
Dan Moran’s Favorite Movie Moments from 2017!
This isn’t a Top 10 List. I have a few more movies to check off before I can make that list but I wanted to share some of the moments that wowed me on screen this year.
BEWARE OF SPOILERS!

The New ‘Justice League’ Trailer is Here!
Written By Bryan Kluger:
A new ‘Justice League‘ trailer is here and shows a ton more footage. It’s just too bad that it isn’t all that great and once again, there is no Superman. Well, Supes does show up, but only in a dream walking through his home farm in Smallville like Russell Crowe meandering through the tall grass in ‘Gladiator‘, which is funny, because Crowe is Supes’ father. Other than that, Superman is not in the trailer, which furthers the stupidity of DC in trying to surprise us with a Superman appearance in ‘Justice League‘.

DC Announces its next movie will be Shazam!
Hi everyone, Bryan here….
The cat is out of the bag. The next big movie in the DC Cinematic Universe will be Shazam!, which is a story about a boy who transforms into the mightiest mortal on Earth. Filming should begin at the start of 2018 and will release the following year. They even have a director now, which is David F. Sandberg – a horror filmmaker. Sandberg made Lights Out and the upcoming Annabelle: Creation, according to THR. That’s pretty much it. Now he’s getting a big comic book franchise. It’s exciting for sure and judging by Lights Out, I’m sure he’s more than capable.

Celebrate The Life of Powers Boothe!!!
Hey guys, Jana here,
Powers Boothe
June 1, 1948 – Mar 14, 2017
When great entertainers pass away, it’s difficult to come up with the right way to mourn a life that still lives on for us in so many ways. The one way we can not just respect the life, but continue to enjoy the life they lived is with re-watching their movies that cement their presence in our lives.

Dr. Vin Diesel or How I learned to Stop Caring and Love the Ride!
Dan M., Here….
I saw The Fast and The Furious when I was 14 or 15. As someone who grew up watching Point Break on VHS and other 80s/90s action movies it was right in my wheel house. I have never been a car guy but I still remember that summer talking with my friends about Honda Civics, Nos, and spoilers that we’d all be getting when we turned 16. The first movie is a step by step remake of Point Break, right down to letting the “bad guy” go at the end with “I owe you a 10 second car” instead of “Vaya Con Dios.” It stared two relatively unknowns in Paul Walker and Vin Diesel who will never be confused with Daniel Day Lewis but were born to play these parts. Ultimately was a fun summer popcorn movie that no one thought they’d hear from again, let alone turn into an almost 4 billion dollar franchise.
Film Review: ‘Keeping Up With the Joneses’!!
Hello Everyone, Janet W. here…
Everyone gets suspicious when new neighbors move into the neighborhood. However, when the new neighbors, Tim and Natalie Jones (Jon Hamm and Gal Gadot), are super hot, then what? Sweet suburban couple, Jeff and Karen Gaffney (Zach Galifianakis and Isla Fisher), is immediately fascinated. Can you blame them? The Gaffneys’ lives are quite mundane despite the fact that their children are away at camp. The Joneses are chic, publicly affectionate, and suspiciously nice. The Gaffneys will never be the same again. Read the rest of this entry »

4K UHD Review: ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’!
Hi everyone, Bryan here…
THE FILM
For all the comic book fans around the globe, we live in a great time of moviemaking. Over the past decade, we’ve seen Hollywood take the superhero genre by storm, releasing comic book movie after comic book movie with A-list stars, talented directors, and epic budgets to bring our childhood heroes to life on the big screen. This successful genre has even garnered many awards, as well as numerous television shows on almost every network. It shows no signs of slowing up. Marvel has paved the way for superhero franchises, building on each superhero character that culminated into the ‘Avengers‘ movies, showcasing each superhero across the other superhero movies, providing a big bridge to gather all stories together. It’s been an excellent financial and critical success.
Blu-ray Review: ‘LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes: Justice League – Gotham City Breakout’
Hi everyone, Bryan here…
THE FILM
LEGO sure has the market on DC films for kids. This film as the past direct-to-video films have incorporated almost all of the DC heroes to satisfy all fans for all ages. Packed with some great voice-talent that is recognizable to fans, this 78-minute ‘Justice League‘ story is quite entertaining, despite the chaotic pace and silliness. The full title of this film is ‘LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes: Justice League – Gotham City Breakout‘ and has just about every DC superhero and villain showing up here, along with some new characters.
‘The Music of DC Comics: Volume 2’ is AWESOME!
Hi everyone, Bryan here…
If you love superhero soundtracks and themes from your favorite TV shows and film that have superheroes in them, than this soundtrack is for you. WaterTower Music and DC are releasing the Volume 2 of their ‘Music of DC Comics‘ next month with 29 tracks. John Williams, Hans Zimmer, Danny Elfman, and Junkie XL are featured on the soundtrack. Hell, even Mark Hamill is on there too. I can’t wait for this to come out. You can pre-order the CD or MP3 now. I just wish there was a vinyl version of this for those old radio themes. Hopefully soon, they’ll release it on vinyl. Below is the official press release and information with track listing. Get super and get this album.
The Plot To The ‘Justice League’ Pic Has Been Released!!!
He guys, Jana here,
We’ve waited for the plot of the ‘Justice League‘ movie and now our patience will be rewarded. Filming is now underway and the buzz is flying all around telling us what’s going on, where it’s happening and what we can expect.
Willem Dafoe Joins the ‘Justice League’!
Hi everyone, Bryan Here…
Willem Dafoe joins the small group of actors to portray both Marvel and DC characters. Dafoe played the Green Goblin in Sam Raimi’s ‘Spider-Man‘ films, and now the actor is joining the ‘Justice League‘ on the superhero side of things, rather than a villain.
Batfleck is Here To Stay – For At Least One Standalone Film!!!
Hey guys, Jana here,
Looks like Batfleck was such a success in Warner Bros. eyes that a standalone project is officially in the works. Ben Affleck isn’t just reprising his role as the caped crusader, he’s a renaissance bat-man (See what I did there?). He will star, obvs, but he will also direct, write and produce.
DC Movie Dates Announced Into 2020!!!
Hey guys, Jana here,
Get your calendars handy, because you’re going to want to start blocking off some dates for movie nights! I’ve got some new dates and some previous dates that have been moved around. Your calendar needs to reach at least until 2020 for a few of these, too.

Amber Heard Will Be Underwater Royalty in ‘Aquaman’!!!
Hey guys, Jana here,
Love them, hate them or tolerate them, superhero movies are a staple in the grand pantheon of entertainment. There doesn’t seem to be a lot of slow-down for the summer blockbuster favorites, if anything there are more and more in the woodwork just waiting for their moment in the sun. Marvel took a wide lead over their DC counterpart in both quality and quantity of films produced, but DC is looking to make a comeback and that’s starting with this summer’s ‘Superman V Batman: Dawn of Justice‘. From there, we have stand-alone movies that feature our favorite comic book supes and among those in the works is ‘Justice League: Part One‘ and ‘Aquaman‘.
J.K. Simmons Is Joining ‘The Justice League’ As Commissioner Gordon!!!
Hey guys, Jana here,
Zack Snyder has placed J.K. Simmons in the middle of another superhero world, this time making him Gotham City police commissioner Gordon in his upcoming ‘The Justice League‘. This is the same man that anchored Sam Raimi’s ‘Spider-Man‘ at the Daily Planet as J. Jonah Jameson beginning in 2002 and running through three films before the property was rebooted.
Ironically, just last week Simmons stated that he’s open to playing Jameson again in the latest MCU reboot of ‘Spider-Man‘ that is starring Tom Holland, Marisa Tomei and Zendaya.
‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice’ Rated R?!!
Hey guys, Jana here,
‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice‘ has received a new MPAA rating, this time as an R rating. No, this is NOT for the theatrical version, but rather as an option for the home video under the title “Ultimate Edition” when it completes its theatrical run. It’s disappointing that we won’t get to see that kind of violence on the big-screen, though.
Here Is The Official Trailer For ‘Batman v Superman’!!!
Hey guys, Jana here,
The official plan to release the ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice‘ trailer this coming Monday, but some dude with a camera phone spoiled those plans and put their shaky, grainy version with Portuguese subtitles out into the interwebs. Zack Snyder reacted by giving the fans what we want, a peek at the trailer.
First Peek At Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor!!!
Hey guys, Jana here,
Director Zack Snyder must have one hell of a poker face, at least it would appear so considering how close to the chest he’s holding his cards dealing with ‘Batman V Superman‘. Any news or photos from the project have been deftly released under Snyder’s instructions.
Warner Bros. Announces 10 DC Movies, 3 LEGO Films and 3 ‘Harry Potter’ Spin-Offs!!
Hi everyone, Bryan Here…
Marvel Entertainment now has a full fledged rival with Warner Bros. and DC Comics. Warner Bros. and DC Comics has just announced all of its superhero films through 2020, plus a few Lego films and new ‘Harry Potter‘ movies. Needless to say, the theaters are going to be packed and each studio is going to be vying for the top box office placement and receipts.
CBS Taking ‘Supergirl’ On for Series Commitment!!!
Hey guys, Jana here,
CBS has fashioned a red cape for itself and jumping into the superhero world. Writers Greg Berlanti and Ali Adler have just hit a stroke of good luck by selling their version of ‘Supergirl‘ to the network. Working under the Berlanti Productions banner with Warner Bros. Television will be exec produced by Berlanti, Adler and Sarah Schechter. We’ve reported a few weeks ago that this was a proposed option, but it is now guaran-damn-teed. Color me happy.
New ‘Batman: Arkham Knight’ Game Delays Release Date!!!
Attention Batfans, Jana here,
I’m a bonafide Batfan from way back when Wonder Woman and Batgirl were on my knickers. This includes all things batty. Not like regular animal bats, because that would just be weird, or at the very least, awkward. If you call your pad the Batcave and you’re a Batman fan, all is well, if you call it the Batcave because it’s full of real bats, you might need to spend some time in Arkham Asylum. Don’t worry, it’s perfectly safe…er…well usually.
Gal Gadot Joins Kevin Costner On ‘Criminal’!!!
Hey guys, Jana here,
Those of us watching comic book news, or DC movie news in particular, already know who Gal Gadot is. If you’ve been a fan of the ‘Fast and Furious‘ franchise you knew who she was before I did. I wasn’t a huge fan of those films, but once I found out she had been cast as Wonder Woman in the ‘Batman v Superman‘ film coming from Zack Snyder I hit www.imdb.com and discovered that I had seen her in the ‘Fast and Furious‘ films, but she hadn’t really made much of an impression on Hollywood other than that.
The Official Title Is ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’!!
Hi everyone, Bryan Here…
Well it looks like Zack Snyder and Warner Bros. has an official title for the new Batman/Superman movie, which will be called ‘Dawn of Justice‘. I bet that means Dawn of the ‘Justice League‘, which Warner Bros. has been planning for quite sometime now. The film is set to open up on may 6th, 2016 and production has officially begun.
First Image of Ben Affleck as Batman!!
Hi everyone, Bryan Here….
Director Zack Snyder took to his TWITTER account and released the first photo of the new Batmobile and Ben Affleck as Batman. The monochrome image has Affleck in the batsuit with new Batmobile as he looks menacing. I have to say, it looks good. Enjoy. The Batman-Superman film will be released May 6th, 2016.
Zack Snyder Will Direct ‘Justice League’ Film Following ‘Batman Vs. Superman’!!!
Hello, Jana here,
It looks like Warner Bros. is banking pretty heavily on Zack Snyder’s ‘Batman vs. Superman‘ release, with a so-so reception of last year’s ‘Man of Steel‘, they gave him a sequel. Not only is he doing a sequel, he cast Ben Affleck as Batman which has drawn cheers and jeers, mostly jeers, from the public since then. So it seems a little ridiculous to me that Warner Bros. has already announced a ‘Justice League‘ movie helmed by Snyder. I’m not saying a ‘Justice League‘ film isn’t a good idea, I just don’t think building the DC Universe off of the ‘Man of Steel‘ platform is the way to do it.
Woody Harrleson Joins Casey Affleck in ‘Triple Nine’!!
Hi Jana here,
Woody Harrelson has always had an in-demand acting career, but it seems that he was never so popular as he is now. Everywhere you look, things are turning up Woody. Harrelson joins the cast of ‘Triple Nine‘, a heist-thriller directed by John Hillcoat. Hillcoat brought us some massive hits like ‘The Road‘ and 2012’s massive hit ‘Lawless‘.
Jesse Eisenberg Cast As Lex Luthor!!
Hi, Bryan Here…
Warner Bros. Pictures announced today that Jesse Eisenberg has been set to star as Lex Luthor and Jeremy Irons will play Alfred in the upcoming Zack Snyder untitled Superman/Batman film. The dual announcement was made today by Greg Silverman, President, Creative Development and Worldwide Production, and Sue Kroll, President, Worldwide Marketing and International Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures.

The ‘Justice League’ Movie Just Got Interesting!!!
Hi, Bryan Here….
The good folks over at Latino Review have posted a bit of information that a lot of you will find exciting. It seems that Warner Bros., of course will be handling the ‘Justice League‘ film, but we have reported a few times on potential directors, producers, writers, and which superheroes would be in the first film. Needless to say, DC and Warner have been very tight lipped about anything ‘Justice League‘, as they are keeping the focus on their upcoming Superman film ‘Man of Steel‘, which we hear is the best movie of the year.

4K UHD Review: ‘Thor: Ragnarok’!
THE FILM
Thor is starring in his third stand-alone film called ‘Thor: Ragnarok‘ and brings a much needed change to the character in the best possibly way. Thor now has a fun personality and great comedic timing, mostly due to Chris Hemsworth amazing acting chops here. In addition to that, the film is steeped in a hypnotic, yet hyper-active color scheme that looks like Willy Wonka and Andy Warhol got together and decorated a city. In fact, Wonka’s theme ‘Pure Imagination’ is a song that plays in the film. It’s not all cold and stiff dialogue here anymore with brown or earth toned aliens and robots that Thor has to use his hammer to fight. Everyone and everything is covered in bright primary and pastel colors that creates a breath of fresh air in this stale universe. That’s all thanks to filmmaker Taika Waititi for giving his unique vision on this big budget film ($180 million). In previous Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, particularly with Thor, things have been sour and gloomy.
4K UHD Review: ‘The Dark Knight Rises’!
THE FILM
The threats of terrorism, war, chaos, and financial ruin are all too real these days. ’The Dark Knight Rises’ dives into these issues on a massive scale, which makes any film in the Marvel universe look like mere “child’s play” (no reference to a knife-wielding murderous doll). Compared with the other Batman movies, everything is bigger in ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ and there is so much more at stake. Not one second of this film is wasted, the writing and direction is straight to the point, cohesive, and comes across as totally fulfilling in its 164 minute run-time.
Movies We’re Thankful For!
Tis the season to be thankful for many things. Family, friends, food, jobs, and Bruce Campbell. It’s Thanksgiving time and we here at Boomstick Comics just love movies. We love everything about them. Even the bad ones. While you’re eating those delicious bites of Turkey, watching ‘Charlie Brown Thanksgiving‘ or the Dallas Cowboys Game, we want to share with you some movies that we are thankful for. These movies have touched us in some way and have helped shaped our creative lives. Maybe this list will inspire you to make your own list and share it with us. These are the movies we are thankful for and dearly love.
A Deeper look into the ‘The Holiday’!
In 2006 a little movie by the name of ‘The Holiday’ was released unto the world from the place where all darkness flows. It now signifies the start of “Holiday Movie Season” for countless women across the globe. I believe it is solely responsible for the Hallmark Channel’s holiday film slate every November-December. However, the imitators don’t even come close to the unique mess this film is. I actually don’t think I’ve seen the movie in one full sitting the past 5 years but it has been in such a rotation in my home that I’ve caught it in enough chunks to have seen it at least 10-12 full times since it came out in 2006. I really want to break down the absurdity of this movie to get everyone in the holiday spirit.

Paul Thomas Anderson and Daniel Day Lewis Team Up for ‘Phantom Thread’!
Written By: Bryan Kluger
Paul Thomas Anderson and Daniel Day Lewis are back at it again with a new film called ‘Phantom Thread‘, which is set to release on Christmas later this year. I’m quite sure the film, along with both Lewis and Anderson will be nominated for all the Oscars. Of course, Anderson brought us ‘Boogie Nights‘ all those years ago and has continued to bring us amazing films over the years. He even teamed with Daniel Day Lewis with ‘There Will Be Blood‘, which is still talked about today, milkshakes and all.
‘Just Getting Started’ Looks Completely Hilarious!!!!
Hey guys, Jana here,
The best way for me to describe this trailer is ‘Grumpy Old Men‘ with Morgan Freeman and Tommy Lee Jones and swap out Ann-Margaret for Rene Russo. While you’re at it you can replace the snow with Palm Springs and add in some mafia intrigue and action. So it’s only like ‘Grumpy Old Men‘ in the way curmudgeonly men snipe at each other and fight over a woman, I guess.
Film Review: mother!
Hi everyone, Bryan here….
It’s been proven over the last two decades that filmmaker Darren Aronofsky makes movies his own way. He doesn’t bow down to Hollywood execs and never makes movies for the masses. Most people would fail with this tactic, but with Aronofsky, he wins awards and is met with critical acclaim. With films like Pi, Requiem for a Dream, Black Swan, and The Wrestler (I won’t mention Noah) – you can tell that Aronofsky doesn’t make tightly wrapped, happy movies with pretty little bows on them. I commend him for this, because he’s doing something that nobody else is doing.

Just a few of my favorite posters!!
Hey guys, Jana here,
There are several elements that go into play when a movie is prepping for their initial debut. There is an advertising campaign, and the goal is to saturate the atmosphere with the upcoming movie, all designed to get us to show up in theaters and plunk down a chunk of our hard-earned cash. One of the first type of media to invade our subconscious is the all-important movie poster. This may seem like a small thing, but each poster is carefully designed to share just enough information that will reel us a bit closer, then just like when fishing, set that hook.

Film Review: ‘Miss Sloane’!
Beka P., here….
If you were are a fan of ‘Scandal‘ or ‘The Newsroom‘, you’ll probably enjoy ‘Miss Sloane‘. This drama/thriller, directed by John Madden, was a quick paced, banter filled, unique look into the underbelly of D.C. lobbyists. At moments it’s fun, at others it’s tense, at then at times it attempts to be harrowing. The film, while leaning left, has a little something for everyone in my opinion.

Have you ever watched a performance and found the actor’s appearance so far out of prior context that all you can do is halt the movie and consult IMDB in order to determine exactly where you’ve seen this individual before? This was my situation with the thriller LEVEL UP. Read the rest of this entry »
