George Clooney’s ‘Suburbicon’ Trailer Is Here – Enjoy!!!
Hey guys, Jana here,
‘Suburbicon‘ is director George Clooney’s latest picture and it’s being readied for release as we speak, well as I type. He’s assembled a stellar cast for the script from Joel Coen and Ethan Coen, Clooney, and Grant Heslov. The cast is made up in part by Matt Damon, Julianne Moore, Noah Jupe, and Oscar Isaac. The film will be in theaters October 27, 2017.

Film Review: Atomic Blonde!
Dan M., here….
Atomic Blonde isn’t a perfect movie. It has an overly complex plot and is about 20 minutes longer than it needs to be, but all of that is overcome by some of the best action sequences in recent memory with an absolutely badass performance by Charlize Theron.
Film Review: ‘The Great Wall’!
Fernando M., here….
This is a bad year for walls. ‘The Great Wall‘ easily wins the “biggest misnomer of the year” award. Should have gone with the title “This Wall, It’s OK I Guess.” What the hell went wrong with this picture? The setup is great, which is “We use the Great Wall of China as a backdrop for a fantasy film about monsters.” There’s a parable about monsters and greed and containment and human evil, but really, it’s all about monsters attacking the Great Wall of China. On this premise alone, it sounds like a lot of fun, and it really could have been.
Ben Affleck Dedicates the ‘Batman’ Directing Job To Your Mother…Fuck Her!
Hi everyone, Bryan here….
When Ben Affleck isn’t making the next Boston crime movie or saying “Yes” to a cameo role in Kevin Smith’s latest direct-to-video film, he’s reading comic books with Matt Damon and deciding on which next Hollywood starlet to take out for a steak dinner and never call again. The guy is a badass in every sense of the word. There’s nothing he can’t do. I’m just surprised he doesn’t have an EGOT yet. You can say a lot of things about Affleck, but you can’t say he doesn’t know when to say “no”. Affleck announced today that he will be stepping down from his role as director in the upcoming ‘Batman‘ film for Warner Bros., where he will indeed be playing Batman once again.
‘The Departed’ Will Move From The Big Screen To The Small Screen!!!
Hey guys, Jana here,
Warner Bros. TV is putting together a TV series reboot of, not only an Oscar winning film, but one of my absolute favorites, ‘The Departed‘. Joining Warner Bros. in the project is Amazon Studios and Vertigo Entertainment, Initial Entertainment Group and Plan B Entertainment.
Film Review: ‘Jason Bourne’!
Hi everyone, Bryan here…
Hey now. Matt Damon is back as Jason Bourne in the new film that is simply titled, ‘Jason Bourne‘, which teams up Damon and director Paul Greengrass once again for the spy thriller who seems to never remember who he is or where he came from. In addition to the usual losing sight of Jason Bourne, then spotting him in a big crowd, to losing him once again, the writers added HBO’s ‘Silicon Valley‘ show to the element without all of the fun or comedy. I’ll get to that in a minute though.

Hillary Thomas’ Top 5 Films and Best TV Shows of 2015!!
Hillary T., Here…
As a writer for Boomstick Comics, we are charged with going to see a lot of movies. I thought that this past year, I saw quite a few. Apparently, with the opening of the Alamo Drafthouse in Richardson, the movies I saw this past year weren’t all new. There were some that were classic programming at a new venue. What can I say? James Wallace knows that I like (“Sixteen Candles”, “Aliens”, “Big Trouble In Little China”, “True Grit”, and “Conan” just to name a few), but I did see a “Few Good Movies.”
And the 2016 Golden Globe Nominees Are….
Hi everyone, Bryan Here…
The awards show is January 10 on NBC hosted by Ricky Gervais. First off, let’s look at something AWESOME here. ‘MAD MAX: FURY ROAD‘ is nominated for BEST PICTURE. It needs to win. It should win. And if does win, we all go streaking. That being said…I can’t believe that ‘Me and Earl and the Dying Girl‘ was not nominated for anything. Come on. It’s one of the BEST films of the year. It’s also interesting to see no love for the final season of ‘Mad Men’ her either. Oh well.
Here is the list of nominees:
Blu-ray Review: ‘Max’!
Hello Everyone, Janet W. here…
THE FILM
Bye Lassie…Bye Benji…Bye to my childhood doggie heroes. There’s a new action star in town. Max (Carlos) is the cleverest doggie hero ever. A Belgian Malinois, Max, is also a Marine service dog. Finally a film brings sincere tribute to the heroism and struggles these beautiful yet fierce animals endure. Max opens in a desert terrain shot as from Max’s point of view. Max searches out the village for insurgents and a weapons stash. Max is highly adept to weapons’ discovery and of course successful in warning his team of Marines of insurgents. Kyle (Robbie Amell) is Max’s handler. The two are inseparable.
Film Review: ‘The Martian’!!
Hi everyone, Bryan Here…
It’s no doubt in my mind that director Ridley Scott was the perfect person to direct ‘The Martian‘, which was based off of Andy Weir’s 2011 novel of the same name. His brilliant story telling and eye to make a desolate planet like Mars look beautiful is simply majestic. Scott is mostly known for directing ‘Alien‘ and ‘Blade Runner‘, which kind of makes him one of the Godfather’s of science-fiction, but he has a few other gems on his resume too, all in different genres. With a movie like ‘The Martian‘ that is in the sci-fi realm, I was pleasantly surprised and overjoyed to find the film quite funny with a very feel-good quality to it, which is something that is not really present in Scott’s sci-fi movies.
Latest Bourne Villain Has Been Cast – Vincent Cassel!!!
Hey guys, Jana here,
Matt Damon’s return to the Jason Bourne franchise was an iffy issue if Paul Greengrass wasn’t returning to direct, as well. Luckily, both announced their return last year and the cast has been filling in steadily, since then. Tommy Lee Jones and Alicia Vikander are slated for the flick and new waves are being made today as one of the villains was announced.
‘Fantastic Fest’ Second Wave of Programming Looks Fan-Freaking-Tastic!!!
Hey guys, Jana here,
‘Fantastic Fest‘ has released their 2nd wave of programming with a huge roster that would work as an entire film fest on its own! Add it to the first wave programming seen here, and by Jupiter’s Cock, it’s going to be exciting!!! There will be advance screenings of ‘The Martian‘, ‘High-Rise‘, ‘Green Room‘, and ‘The Keeping Room‘.
“This is a big year for genre cinema. We’re exceptionally proud to honor incredible filmmakers and welcome back some of Fantastic Fest’s favorites,” said Tim League, Fantastic Fest and Alamo Drafthouse CEO/Founder.
Sticking true to Fantastic Fest’s penchant for chaos and explosive events, they welcome Itchy-O to Austin for the first time. A blazing, 32-member aural assault from the darkest depths of Colorado, Itchy-O is a wholly immersive, musical experience on a massive scale. Said festival director Kristen Bell, “We cannot wait for them to unleash their percussive mayhem on our audience as hysteria has a welcome home at Fantastic Fest.”
See below for the full lineup of newly announced film titles for Fantastic Fest 2015. Final wave of titles to be announced shortly.
