Richard Linklater’s Newest Project Could Be “Where’d You Go, Bernadette?” Adaptation?
Hey guys, Jana here,
Director Richard Linklater has been in the news lately with his Oscar nomination for ‘Boyhood‘, the film that took 12 years to film, before that his name was always hand-in-hand with ‘Dazed and Confused‘ that stunning peek into the last day of school in the 70’s and made names out of Matthew McConaughey and Ben Affleck.

Bryan’s Review of Linklater’s ‘Bernie’!!!
Hi, Bryan Here….
Richard Linklater’s film, Bernie, was inspired by an article in Texas Monthly Magazine by Skip Hollandsworth titled ‘Midnight in the Garden of East Texas’. The article was an editorial about a murder committed in the small East Texas town of Carthage, Texas. Hollandsworth’s editorial argued that the entire town supported the killer, rather than the victim. Regardless of the fact that the killer confessed, the evidence proved his guilt, and a court sentenced him to life in prison, the entire town still believes he is innocent. This real-life story translated into a hilarious dark comedy.
‘Last Flag Flying’ waves over Blu-ray!
‘Last Flag Flying‘ is coming to Blu-ray on January 30th and will be available digitally on January 16th. The film is directed by Richard Linklater (Dazed and Confused, Everybody Wants Some, Boyhood) and stars Steve Carell, Bryan Cranston, and Laurence Fishburne, and is based on Darryl Ponicsan’s book of the same name. The movie focuses on three older men who all served in Vietnam together. Fast forward many years later, they are all reunited when one of their son’s has died in the Iraq war and they road trip to bury the fallen. It’s a different kind of movie for sure in Linklater’s list of movies, but he proves that he can tackle any subject, even if it isn’t as silly or fun as the above mentioned films of his. There will be audio commentaries, behind the scenes featurettes, deleted scenes, and more included on this Blu-ray. Below is more information on the release.
Favorite Films of 2016!
Hi everyone, Bryan here….
The end of 2016 is here, which means everyone’s Top 10 list is out already or getting ready to be released. I’m not going to do a Top 10 in order again this year, because there are just so many amazing films I feel so passionate about, that it is difficult to rank them. If you think this is a weak year of films, then you are surely mistaken. I will say that most of the big budget blockbusters this year were duds, but the indie films were nothing short of amazing. So below is the list of films that I truly loved this year. These films will be ones that I watch over and over again, and you should to. I watched 254 films that were released this year (Yes, I counted) and survived to tell the tale. As always, please let me know if any of your favorite films made my list. Enjoy!
You can CLICK the titles of each movie where you can purchase the Blu-rays too. Hooray!
Interview with Writer/Director Katie Cokinos!
Hi everyone, Bryan Here….
I had the pleasure to talk with filmmaker Katie Cokinos, who wrote and directed ‘I Dream Too Much‘, starring Diane Ladd, Eden Brolin and Danielle Brooks. Cokinos is a Texas native who worked with Richard Linklater in the early 90s on ‘Slacker‘, and who in return, Linklater served as Executive Producer on this film. This fun talk covers, working on the film, shooting in the cold New York winter, working on earlier films (‘What’s Eating Gilbert Grape‘/’The Return of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre‘), casting the roles, and her favorite scenes from movies, as well as her most thrilling music experience.
Film Review: ‘Everybody Wants Some’!
Hi everyone, Bryan Here…
In my mind, Richard Linklater can do no wrong. He is one of the best filmmakers working today and he continues do break ground with iconic films that will forever be seared into our memory. Recently, his film ‘Boyhood‘ garnered a ton of awards and was a milestone in filmmaking as he took twelve years to film the story of a boy growing up around his broken family. It was one of the best movies of that year. From ‘School of Rock‘ to ‘Bernie‘ to ‘Slacker‘ to the ‘Before‘ trilogy – we’ve seen Linklater grow as a filmmaker and deliver excellent characters and great soundtracks over the years. Perhaps his best known or cult favorite film was from 23 years ago, which of course was ‘Dazed and Confused‘.

Blu-Ray Releases for January 6th, 2014
Hi everyone, Bryan Here…
It’s been a long while since I’ve done a Blu-ray column for the site. Hell, it might be two years since the last Blu-ray release column was released here. But I figure since it’s 2015 and there aren’t any apocalyptic scenarios or a rat infestation in the house yet, so now must be as good a time as any to start this fun column back up. As usual in this article, you will get some info about the disc and the extras that come with the movie as well as a personal opinion about the movie and a picture-link to purchase the film over at AMAZON where you can save quite a bit of money, and it will give a small percentage kick back to this site so we can continue bringing you excellent stories and bizarre tales. Bryan’s Best and Worst of 2014 List!!
Hi everyone, Bryan Here…
I can’t believe how fast this year has gone by. 2014 was an interesting year to say the least, most of which was great. Movie-wise, I think 2014 had some excellent films filling its theaters, but of course it had some real stinkers too. Below is my list of the Best and Worst films of 2014 with some added categories down at the bottom. I believe this year I watched over 145 new films, theatrically speaking and it was very difficult to narrow them down from 25. After some chocolate snacks covered in marshmallow cream, I finally had a TOP 10. But when you talk about the Best movies, you have to mention the worst too. My list tends to be a tad bit different from others, but hey, I’m twisted. I highly encourage you to seek out these movies – good or bad and enjoy the rest of your year.
And the 2014 Golden Globes Nominations Are….
Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

School of Rock Adapted To Series for Nickelodeon!!!
Hey guys, Jana here,
I’m still surprised there is a world where Jack Black and kids go great together, but that’s what 2003’s ‘School of Rock’ proved to be true. Nickelodeon likes the idea so much they have given a straight-to series order for a TV show based on the film. Teaming up with Paramount TV, Nickelodeon brings back director Richard Linklater (‘Dazed & Confused’) and pairing him with writers Jim and Steve Armogida (‘Crash and Bernstein‘) and Scott Rudin (‘No Country For Old Men‘) will executive produce.
Film Review: ‘Boyhood’!!
Hi everyone, Bryan Here….
If you’re unfamiliar with the name Richard Linklater, then you’re in for a real treat. Linklater is a Texas filmmaker who is known for making iconic movies in and around Austin and Dallas, Texas. His films include ‘Slacker‘, ‘School of Rock‘, the ‘Before‘ series, ‘Bernie‘, and the iconic and legendary piece of cinema ‘Dazed and Confused‘. But nothing could have prepared us for his newest film called ‘Boyhood‘, which is a cinematic milestone and achievement and something that will be talked about and praised for many years to come.

Bryan Reviews ‘Dazed and Confused’!!! (A Criterion Blu-ray)!!!
Hi Bryan Here….
Criterion rolls out the red carpet yet again with the re-release of the instant cult classic ‘Dazed and Confused’. This time it is on glorious blu-ray. This movie will live on forever. There really isn’t another movie like it. The characters, the music, the dialogue are all quoted and duplicated today. This film started the careers of tons of big named actors including: Parker Posey, Ben Affleck, Matthew McConaughey, Milla Jovovich, Joey Lauren Adams, and a few others. This re-release is virtually the same as the previous criterion release, but in blu-ray. And let me just say, it is worth the upgrade. The picture and sound are top notch.
