Hi everyone, Bryan  Here…

blu-ray

It’s been a long while since I’ve done a Blu-ray column for the site. Hell, it might be two years since the last Blu-ray release column was released here. But I figure since it’s 2015 and there aren’t any apocalyptic scenarios or a rat infestation in the house yet, so now must be as good a time as any to start this fun column back up. As usual in this article, you will get some info about the disc and the extras that come with the movie as well as a personal opinion about the movie and a picture-link to purchase the film over at AMAZON where you can save quite a bit of money, and it will give a small percentage kick back to this site so we can continue bringing you excellent stories and bizarre tales. So click on the pictures and start saving.

BOYHOOD‘ One of the best movies of 2014. Richard Linklater, the dude who made ‘Dazed and Confused’ and ‘School of Rock’, spent twelve years making this magnificent opus on the great moments in life by following the same actors around for twelve years. It’s a must own. It comes with  a Q&A session with the cast and crew and a short behind the scenes featurette. Here’s my full review of the film.

HORNS‘ – 10 Points to Gryffindor on this film. Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter), actually plays the devil here where he can make people tell their deepest darkest secrets and desires, as well as make them do anything he says, while he searches for his girlfriend’s killer. It’s ballsy, violent, gory, and a lot of fun. Radcliffe is AWESOME here. The only extra here is a behind the scenes featurette. Should have more. Here’s my full review of the film.

ARCHER: VICE COMPLETE 5TH SEASON‘ – ‘Archer’ is one of the best shows on television. It’s outrageously funny, raunchy, and full of one liners and an excellent voice cast. In the previous seasons, ‘Archer’ and his crew were a band of agents (similar to James Bond) who would take out bad guys across the globe in their own unique and sadistic perverse way. But now they are indeed the bad guys, because why the hell not. I highly recommend this. There are a couple of funny extras involving Pam Poovey and Cheryl. Enjoy.

NO GOOD DEED‘ – Idris ‘Man-God’ Elba along with Taraji B. Henson and the guy who directed Elba in ‘Luther’, made this home invasion thriller. Unfortunately, it doesn’t play out like the end of ‘Home Alone’ or any real scary movie of this sub genre. Elba is badass as always, but the film itself isn’t that much of a gem. It looks and sounds good though and comes with a few extras including a behind the scenes and cast and crew interviews. Not recommended! Read my full review here.

CRITERION: THE SWORD OF DOOM‘ – Criterion has re-released this Kihachi Okamoto classic on Blu-ray finally. This Japanese film is all sorts of awesome and is from 1966. Basically you have a couple of samurai dudes who go across the land killing people, because one of them wants to just be an evil dude. There is way more to it than that, but that’s the general gist. Criterion has provided a commentary and trailer here. AWESOME.

WORKING GIRL‘ – In 1988, Ripley, Indiana Jones, and Melanie Griffith all took office jobs for a short while. This Mike Nichols film shows what it was like for a women in the 80s to work her way up the corporate ladder in a big city. It is actually a pretty good movie and was nominated for a bunch of Oscars. Finally good to have this in HD and sing that famous song, ‘Let the river run’. Unfortunately, there are no extras.
