Oct/2018

Hi, Bryan Here….

Godzilla-poster-new

As we’ve reported before, Frank Darabont is hard at work, writing the ‘Godzilla‘ reboot as the studio is rounding out its cast. Last time we checked in, Aaron Johnson (‘Kick-Ass‘) was the top choice to star in the giant lizard remake. However now, Bryan Cranston and Elizabeth Olsen are being courted to co-star in what seems to be an actual decent project of the iconic monster.

Hi Bryan Here…..

Here is the trailer for ‘Silent House’ starring Elizabeth Olsen.  I hope you all saw or will go out and see Olsen in ‘Martha Marcy May Marlene’, because she is AMAING in it.  ‘Silent House’ is a remake of a spanish film that came out a year or two ago.  The film is made to look like it is filmed in one continuous long shot.  The trailer is AWESOME.  Enjoy.

Jana’s Best of 2017!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Jan 1st, 2018

Hey guys, Jana here,

I know these “Best of 2017” lists should technically be published in 2017, but why would I start 2018 any differently than I lived the majority of my adult life: Procrastinating and underachieving. What can I say? That’s my wheelhouse.

For a year that put a spotlight on some of the shittiest behavior by some of the Hollywood elite, it was actually a good year for TV and movies. I didn’t limit myself in number because as I moved on with the brackets, I felt like I was making ‘Sophie’s Choice‘ on some of these, so they’re all getting in! I’m feeling my inner-Oprah here, You’ve made the list! You made the list! EVERYBODY made the list!! In order to spare myself any arguments, I’m stating up front that my picks for the “Best of 2017” are not edited in regards to scandal or hideous human behavior.

Film Review: ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Apr 29th, 2015

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

4437523-who-do-you-think-will-die-in-avengers-age-of-ultron_0

To basically start out the summer of 2015 with a big bang, comes the highly anticipated sequel to Marvel’s 2012’s ‘Avengers‘ film, which is titled ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron‘. It’s been a long time coming too. Ever since 2008, when we saw Robert Downey Jr. put on the Iron Man suit for the first time, we all knew Marvel Entertainment had a huge franchise on their hands, as they teased a big film called ‘The Avengers‘, which put a lot of our favorite superheroes together to fight evil. After several solo movies with the likes of Hulk, Thor, Captain America, and Iron Man, we finally got an ‘Avengers‘ movie in 2012, which made over $1 billion for Marvel and Disney, and was met with much praise and critical success. It was because of this, that Marvel has announced tons of superhero films through the year 2019 that will play into their overall story arc they have been building since 2008. We’ve all been anxiously awaiting this sequel for quite some time now, with tons of posters and trailers that have more than elevated our calm levels with excitement. Now the time is finally here for another hefty dose of ‘Avengers‘ with each superhero returning along with Joss Whedon directing.

Hey guys, Jana here,

the_avengers_2___age_of_ultron_fan_movie_poster_by_ddsign-d6kbl25-avengers-age-of-ultron-post-credit-scenes-speculation

We’re bringing you the next brand new trailer for ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron‘!!! Last night during the ESPN coverage of the College Football Playoff National Championship, Marvel dropped the new clip. Joss Whedon brilliantly directed the first ‘Avengers’ and we see those high expectations every bit equalled in the all-too-short trailer, the haunting music laid over the clip is fantastic at building tension, too.

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

49kb38i-sdcc-hulk-smash-last-2-posters-reveals-hulk-thor-for-avengers-2-age-of-ultron

We first saw a trailer for Joss Whedon and Marvel Comics’Avengers 2: Age of Ultron‘ a few weeks ago where we saw a ver menacing Ultron (voiced by James Spader) singing a very creepy version of ‘I’ve Got No Strings On Me’. Someone leaked the trailer before it was supposed to debut on ‘Agents of SHIELD‘, to which Marvel answered by just releasing it early. It was quite comical, but one thing is for sure, the trailer was amazing.

Film Review: ‘Godzilla’ (2014)!!

by Gumbercules9000 on May 13th, 2014

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

godzilla_2014_poster_51784

It has been sixty years since ‘Godzilla‘, the true king of all monsters first graced us with his appearance on the big screen. He definitely made a big impact on audiences around the world and spawned 31 sequels and remakes since then. Director Gareth Edwards brings that number to 32 with his epic and dark toned reboot that is sure to please fans young and old and have them roaring with joy as they exit the theater. Edwards was Hollywood’s top  choice to reboot this franchise after everyone saw his 2010 film called ‘Monsters‘, which focused on two lost lonely souls who have to trek through a quarantined zone in Mexico, while evading giant tentacled monsters.

Hi, Bryan Here…

godzilla2014_poster2

I can’t tell you how excited I am about this movie. I’ve been talking about this ‘Godzilla‘ movie for a while now. The director is Gareth Edwards, you made one of my favorite films of 2010 called ‘Monsters‘. If you saw that movie, you know why he was chosen to reboot ‘Godzilla’, one of the most iconic monsters of all time. If you haven’t seen ‘Monsters’, you need to purchase it pronto.

Film Review: ‘Kill Your Darlings’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Nov 14th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here….

 KYD

Over the past couple of years, we have had a string of films based on the Beat Poet generation that spawned writers and poets Allen Ginsberg, William Burroughs, and Jack Kerouac. Some have been documentaries, some have been narratives on their successful careers, but none have covered the in depth time period where all of these writers met in college and were part of a murder. First time feature filmmaker John Krokidas knocks it out of the park with his jazzy, drug induced opus that is called ‘Kill Your Darlings‘.

rumour-marvel-keen-on-aaron-taylor-johnson-to-play-quicksilver-136719-a-1370846169-470-75

Before, I get into the future project of Aaron Taylor-Johnson, a.k.a. Kick Ass, let me just take a moment to express how absolutely gorgeous this guy looks without the frizzy hair of his first appearance as the normal dude turned vigilante. I kind of slid my eyes past him because I could not see the hottie he had hidden. I just checked out a picture of him and was freaking gobsmacked at the boy looking back at me that will be filling my night time thoughts. Yummy. Now that I’ve stated the obvious but important point of his looks I can get on with his new project.

Feast Your Eyes on the New ‘Godzilla’ Poster!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jul 18th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here….

 godzilla

San Diego Comic Con has officially started and we now have our first ‘Godzilla‘ poster. Yes, if you remember, we are getting a ‘Godzilla‘ reboot, which will be loads and loads better than the 1998 film that starred Matthew Broderick, Maria Patillo, and Hank Azaria. Hell, that film wasn’t even a true ‘Godzilla‘ film, but rather a story about a lizard who wandered into some nuclear chemicals and grew 76 stories tall. It was a failure in filmmaking.

Bryan Reviews ‘Liberal Arts’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Apr 14th, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

Josh Radnor’s ‘Liberal Arts’ is nothing short of amazing and was a perfect film to open up the 2012 Dallas International Film Festival.  Most of you might know Radnor from the hit television series ‘How I Met Your Mother,’ where he plays the hopelessly romantic lead character.  But with ‘Liberal Arts’, Radnor throws out the laugh-track-style comedy and give you one of the smartest and most genuine performances of the past few years.  I have no doubt that audiences will fall in love with the incredible cast, witty dialogue, and light-hearted yet heart-felt story.

Hi, Bryan Here….

The opening film has been announced for the 2012 Dallas International Film Festival, and it’s going to be a good one.  The opening night film will be ‘Liberal Arts’ which is directed by Josh Radnor and stars Elizabeth Olsen (Martha Marcy May Marlene), Zac Efron, Allison Janney, and Richard Jenkins.  The film will screen at the Majestic Theatre in downtown Dallas on April 12th.

Hi Bryan Here…

I am completely psyched about his movie.  Cillian Murphy, Sigourney Weaver, and was that Robert De Niro?   Why Yes.  Yes it was.  Also I caught Elizabeth Olsen in the trailer.  This looks amazing.   Sigourney back in Horror is always a plus. “A psychological thriller which explores the human brain’s perception mechanisms and the diffuse frontiers between belief and science, RED LIGHTS starts out from the experiences of two rationalist scientists who dissect phenomena from the metapsychic world, and the clash of forces with a world famous psychic they bring about. The past and the present of each the protagonists contain still unrevealed shadows, setting in train a dark story of growing tension, full of unexpected twists and turns.”  Rodrigo Cortes will be directing the film.  He made that amaizng Ryan Reynolds film, ‘Buried’ which took place completely all inside a coffin.  Enjoy the trailer.

Hi Bryan Here…..

The 84th annual Academy Award nominations are in.  There are a couple of surprises that I was very happy to see on here and tons of disappointment.  It looks like the Academy went with 9 Best Picture noms this year rather than 10.  They also only went with 3 noms for make up which I can think of others, and only two for original song.  Was this a time issue, so that the event would be over on time for once rather than have all 5 songs being sung?  I don’t like it, but that’s how it is this year.  Below you will see each category with my thoughts.  Enjoy.

Hi Bryan Here…

This little gem of a film is exactly that.  Remarkable and nail biting as all hell.  I knew very little walking into ‘Martha Marcy May Marlene’, but after its viewing, I knew I witnessed something special and spectacular.  The less you know about the film going in the better, so I will try to keep this review light on spoilers.  Bu tI just walked away from this film with a new hope for filmmaking and storytelling. With so much crap out there these days, it was so refreshing to see this film.  ‘Martha Marcy May Marlene’ was original, beautifully shot, tense, scary, darkly romantic, and very well acted.  I wish I could buy a ticket for the world to see this movie.

FedMex Reviews ‘Martha Marcy May Marlene’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 26th, 2011

FedMex Here….

Martha Marcy May Marlene.  Behind this bizarre title, which will actually make sense later, is an equally bizarre film.  It’s a compelling depiction of a young woman (a wonderful Elizabeth Olsen) who escapes from a cult and attempts to integrate back into normal life.  The film from there on becomes an intense and surreal experience using familiar, though effective, cinematic techniques  and themes to gaze eerily into the world that this poor girl left behind, as well as her near impossible task of coping with returning to normal life.

Suzanne’s Review of ‘Liberal Arts’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 28th, 2012

Suzanne Here….

As we age, we mature…and sometimes we mature in different ways at different times. This is not a new concept, but in Josh Radnor’s Liberal Arts, we see a group of characters facing different periods of growth and adversity. The film may not reach new depths of introspection and understanding of the human condition, but it is one that many can enjoy simply for the recognition of ourselves in the characters.
