Film Review: ‘The Wolverine’!!
Hi, Bryan Here….
This second installment in a supposed trilogy on Wolverine is certainly a step in the right direction. Despite ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine‘ being a terrible mess of a film on all levels, it managed to muster almost $400 million worldwide. With James Mangold at the helm this time and leaving off the ‘X-Men‘ title, we have a decent attempt of furthering one of the most beloved heroes in comic book history. Leaving the CG effects on the back-burner this time around, and going with a hand-to-hand combat method with elements of noir and Kurosawa in mind, this ninja-heavy action blockbuster for Fox should garner appropriate returns.

Check Out the New Trailer for ‘The Wolverine’ with Hugh Jackman!!!
Hi, Bryan Here….
This is the brand new trailer for ‘The Wolverine‘ starring Hugh Jackman. This trailer should be in front of most prints of ‘Fast and Furious 6‘ this weekend, so be sure to look out for that. The film will be in 3D and is directed by James Mangold (‘Copland‘, ‘3:10 To Yuma‘). This is also a prequel to the whole X-Men series and will focus a bit on Logan’s time in Japan, which is a fan favorite in the comics. In this trailer, we get a big look at that side of the story. The film opens July 26th and I hope it’s a bit better than the previous film.
Sink Your Claws into a New Trailer for ‘The Wolverine’!!
Hi, Bryan Here….
Here is a Japanese trailer for the upcoming ‘Wolverine‘ film titled ‘The Wolverine‘. It showcases a tiny bit of new footage that we haven’t seen from previous trailers. This looks loads better than the previous ‘Wolverine‘ effort already. James Mangold is directing this sequel, which is not as appetizing as Darren Aronofsky directing, but that is long in the past. Mangold did ‘3:10 to Yuma‘, which was great, so let’s hope for something that spectacular, but Wolvy Berserk style. Snikt!
Check Out Hugh Jackman As ‘The Wolverine’ Once Again!!!
Hi, Bryan Here….
Finally, after several years of going in and out of production, the new Wolverine film is finally taking shape. James Mangold is directing the project. Mangold directed ‘Cop Land’, ‘Girl Interrupted’, ‘3:10 To Yuma’, ‘Identity’, and ‘Walk the Line’ to name a few. Not sure how to take this film yet. At one point, Darren Aronofsky was attached to direct, but that fell through. I was not a fan of ‘Wolverine Origins’, but hopefully this film will be much better.
Darren Aronofsky Might Direct the Wolverine Sequel…
Director Darren Aronofsky (Pi, Requiem For A Dream, The Fountain, The Wrestler) did not get the job to direct the new Superman flick, but he is currently in talks to direct the next installment of the Wolverine franchise.
As of now, Aronofsky has a perfect record in filmmaking. But so did Gavin Hood (Tsotsi) before he directed Wolverine. I did not like the Wolverine movie. It was completely sloppy and uninteresting. A terrible film really.
Let’s hope that Aronofsky gets creative control with this film so it will not tarnish his reputation. Plus it would reunite Aronofsky and Hugh Jackman working together. Their previous collaboration was on the sci-fi love story, “The Fountain”.
Looking forward to seeing Wolverine in Japan.
SNIKT!

Hey guys, Jana here,
It’s finally been confirmed and the Old Man Logan storyline for the next Wolverine movie is a GO!!! ‘Deadpool‘ has opened the doors for the powers that be to realize that an R-rated comic book movie is not a death sentence and Fox has green-lit an R-rated Wolverine 3!!!
Hugh Jackman and James Mangold Are up For Another ‘Wolverine’ Film!!!
Hi, Bryan Here….
Well, this comes as no surprise as the last Wolverine film has grossed over $413 million worldwide, that 20th Century Fox is already prepping another Wolverine film. They are so impressed by the last movie’s returns, that they are asking director James Mangold and Hugh Jackman to work again in the next film.
Jessica Biel Will Not Be In The New Wolverine Film!!!
Hi, Bryan Here…
We reported last week that Jessica Biel landed the role of Viper in the new Wolverine film. Well all has gone to hell supposedly, and Biel is no longer part of that film. Director James Mangold is scheduled to audition other actresses as soon as possible according to Deadline. Read the original story HERE.
Jessica Biel To Play Viper In ‘Wolverine’ Sequel!!!
Hi, Bryan Here….
Jessica Biel has just landed the role of Viper in Fox’s ‘The Wolverine’ film. Viper formally known as Madame Hdrya has been in the X-Men universe for a long time now and we hear that her role is pretty big. Let’s not forget that Biel was in one other Marvel film. Can you guess which one that was? If you guessed ‘Blade: Trinity’, then you guessed correctly.
Will Yun Lee Set to Star Opposite Hugh Jackman in The Sequel To Wolverine: Origin’!!!
Hi, Bryan Here….
Will Yun Lee will star in the upcoming sequel of X-Men: Origins – The Wolverine Sequel. The film will be directed by James Mangold and details of the characters and story are being kept ultra secret. At least for now they are. The character Lee will be playing is called Harada. Do you remember who Harada is?
Wolverine Returns to Broadway with Aaron Sorkin!!!
Hi Bryan Here…..
That’s right. Hugh Jackman will head back to the big stage on Broadway for a new show, but not as Wolverine. But rather ‘Houdini’. Houdini marks the debut of Aaron Sorkin on stage, with music by Stephen Schwartz. Jack O’Brien has been set to direct the production, which will be presented by producer Scott Sanders and David Rockwell, the latter of whom will design the sets.
Wolverine Sequel Finally Has A New Director!!!
Hi Bryan Here…
This competition for director of the Wolverine sequel has been going on forever it seems like. THere have been quite a few people up for the job and some who have been offered but later dropped out. Such as Darren Aronofsky who dropped out a few months ago. Well Hugh Jackman and Fox has picked their director. And that director is James Mangold.
Wolverine Might Lend His Claw To ‘Les Miserables’?!?!
Hi Bryan Here…
Director Tom Hooper’s next project will be the adaptation of the stage play ‘Les Miserables’ and he is courting Hugh Jackman to be the star. Also, actor Paul Bettany (‘Priest’, ‘Legion’) is wanting the role of Javert for which he has already read and sang the songs for execs and casting directors. The goal so far is to start production by the end of the year somewhere in Europe.
Director Duncan Jones Might Helm Wolverine Sequel!!!
Hi Bryan Here…
Seems like the rumor mill is in full force in that director Duncan Jones (Moon, The Source Code) is having meetings about directing the Wolverine sequel. At one point it was going to be Darren Aronofsky, but he pulled out at the last minute, so now the crew is trying to find someone quickly. It doesn’t seem like Duncan Jones would want to take the project on meaning it doesn’t look like his cup of tea. I feel he would want to make his own super hero film by creating a new one and not be tied down by Marvel or the big studio execs on ever single frame. Who knows? But our fellow contributor Joel, has a little something to say about this matter below.
Wolverine Has No Director!!! Darren Aronofsky Off Wolverine Film!!! SNIKT!!
Hi Bryan here…
Director Darren Aronofsky has dropped out of the next Wolverine film. Aronofsky made Pi, Black Swan, and The Wrestler. This is a fairly big blow to the comic book world. Now who knows when Wolverine will be made or if a director as good as Aronofsky would hired to take on the job.
The Upcoming Wolverine Film Directed by Darren Aronofsky is Shaping Up To Be Badass!!!
Hi Bryan Here…
The good people over at HERO COMPLEX has scored an amazing interview with Wolverine himself, Hugh Jackman. and from the interview it looks like Darren and Hugh know exactly how to make this Wolverine story the way it should be.

Film Review #2: ‘Logan’!
Dan M., here….
Even when the dust settles and recency bias fades, I can’t imagine LOGAN not being considered one of the greatest superhero films of all time. For me, LOGAN is in the same class as Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Spider-Man 1-2, Iron Man, Reeve’s Superman, Burton’s Batman, etc. I believe all of those comic films work as films and stories first, comic fun second. There are plenty of “fun” comic movies I thoroughly enjoy and love but I wouldn’t classify them as well-crafted films. LOGAN is a great story and character arc first and comic fun second. It just works on every level.
Film Review: ‘LOGAN’!
Hi everyone, Bryan here….
For decades now, we have been clamoring for a ‘Wolverine‘ film done right. From his first incarnation in Hulk #181 to his own miniseries in comic book form in the 1980’s by Frank Miller, to the amazing Saturday Morning Cartoon, and his first appearance in a feature film in 2000 with ‘X-Men‘, which had the song and dance man Hugh Jackman play the iconic character. He was so good at playing Logan/Wolverine, that fans immediately took a liking to him as that character and he went on to play the ‘Snikt-y Snikt’ character in almost a dozen more films. Besides the ‘X-Men‘ films, Wolverine got his own set of standalone films, which may or may not have been liked by a lot of people for various reasons. Either the story was too silly or the character Wolverine was to PG for fans.
Take A Closer Look At ‘Logan’ With an Extended Red Band Trailer!!!
Hey guys, Jana here,
Director James Mangold (‘The Wolverine‘, ‘Walk The Line‘) has taken up the Wolverine mantle he’d set down when production wrapped on ‘The Wolverine‘ in 2013. He’s back to tell the final chapter of Wolverine’s story with ‘Logan‘. Back in the saddle is Hugh Jackman as the bladed mutant, Boyd Holbrook, Doris Morgado, Patrick Stewart, Stephen Merchant and Dafne Keen also share the screen. The second trailer for the film is here in all it’s red band glory and we catch Professor X swearing y’all!
The Trailer For ‘Life’ Explores The Question Of If There’s Life On Mars!!!
Hey guys, Jana here,
‘Life‘ tells the story of a six-member crew of the International Space Station, tasked with studying a sample from Mars that may be the first proof of extra-terrestrial life, which proves more intelligent than ever expected.
The First Peek At ‘Logan’ Is Amazing!!!
Hey guys, Jana here,
On the heels of the new ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2‘ teaser that released yesterday, comes the first look at ‘Logan‘! Director James Mangold worked with the Wolverine character in the past with 2013’s ‘The Wolverine‘ and has returned to bring the story home with the Old Man Logan story line. Hugh Jackman is back for the last time as the titular character along with Patrick Stewart. Other cast members include Boyd Holbrook, Doris Morgado, Sienna Novikov, Elizabeth Rodriguez and Stephen Merchant. Check out Merchant’s first peek as Caliban, an albino mutant.
Morena Baccarin Cast Opposite Ryan Reynolds in ‘Deadpool’!!!
Hey guys, Jana here,
If you’re like me you’ve been on pins and needles awaiting casting information from one of the latest films covering the canon of the Marvel universe, ‘Deadpool‘. Wise-cracking Wade Wilson aka Deadpool is a fan favorite for his ass-kicking capability and his witty master of the English language. Marvel originally introduced Wilson in ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine‘ in 2009 played perfectly by Ryan Reynolds. In a somewhat strange turn of events, Reynolds confirmed that the current ‘Deadpool’ will have no connection to the character he originated in the Wolverine movie, but will be playing him again, in the new incarnation. This time around Wade Wilson, an assassin who undergoes a procedure to cure his cancer that ends up leaving him twisted and scarred but carrying superpowers. ‘Deadpool‘ is slated to begin filming in March and slated for 2016 release.
Hillary T.’s ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ Review!!
Hillary T., Here…
I am a Marvel girl. I am. But after the last ensemble X-Men movie (Last Stand), I was devastated at what had become of my beloved mutant team. Then, First Class came out, which gave me a lot of hope. Then they announced Bryan Singer would return to direct the next installment. Dare I get my hopes up more? Then they shared the “Days of Future Past” storyline. I was instantly hooked. The cast started rolling in, and I got even more hopeful and well, I was really happy after the first preview. It looked good, even great.
Zack Snyder Will Direct ‘Justice League’ Film Following ‘Batman Vs. Superman’!!!
Hello, Jana here,
It looks like Warner Bros. is banking pretty heavily on Zack Snyder’s ‘Batman vs. Superman‘ release, with a so-so reception of last year’s ‘Man of Steel‘, they gave him a sequel. Not only is he doing a sequel, he cast Ben Affleck as Batman which has drawn cheers and jeers, mostly jeers, from the public since then. So it seems a little ridiculous to me that Warner Bros. has already announced a ‘Justice League‘ movie helmed by Snyder. I’m not saying a ‘Justice League‘ film isn’t a good idea, I just don’t think building the DC Universe off of the ‘Man of Steel‘ platform is the way to do it.
Film Review: ‘Red Dawn’
Hi, Bryan Here….
I admit, I was a bit apprehensive heading into watching this remake of the 1984 action film that starred Patrick Swayze, Charlie Sheen, Harry Dean Stanton, and Jennifer Grey. The 80’s film was a big hit and is still good today. John Milius ,the director of the original film, made an imprint on the minds of the youth back then with a ‘what if’ scenario and a heck of a fun film. This remake, while it is certainly very cheesy and awkwardly bad in tiny moments, the overall picture is a fine and worth-while remake despite its many faults.
‘City State’ to Be Remade in English!!!
The Bishop Charlotte Reporting….
I’m resigned. Originality in Hollywood will never return. But, if it has to give up on novelty, at least it’s giving us good stuff.
City State is an Icelandic crime drama centered around four people caught up in the underworld. When a foreign mafia takes over the drug market, their lives intersect. There’s a bad cop in love with a whore, a revenge-seeking female cop, an aging crime boss with a heart condition, and a mechanic-turned-avenging-angel. Even a remake could be completely engrossing. It sort of sounds like Sin City meets Crash.
Darren Aronofsky and George Clooney Will Team Up To Make An Epic Sci-Fi Film?!?!?!
Hi Bryan Here….
Director Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan, Pi, Requiem For A Dream) is honing in on his next project and that project just might very well be “Human Nature”. George Clooney has already signed on as the lead role in this film.

Dan Moran’s Top 12 Movies of 2017 Plus Extras!
I saw 75 movies this year and I still have 3-4 left to finish up over the next few weeks. I haven’t seen The Post, Call Me By Your Name, or Phantom Thread yet. Phantom Thread is the only regret I have but it doesn’t come out until mid-January and I like to finish my list before first week of January ends. A few special awards before my top 12.
Favorite Movies of 2017!
Was 2017 a great year for movies? Of course it was. There were some excellent films to be released in 2017. There were also some bad ones for sure, but the focus on this article are some of the Best films that stuck with me long after viewing. Most people will give you their Top 10 list, but this is no Top 10, because there are just so many movies that I loved and feel passionate about, that I find it difficult and unpleasing to rank them.
Instead, these are my favorite movies of 2017, which I hope you’ve seen already. If you haven’t yet, you’re in for a real treat and I can’t wait for you to see them. Some of these films are still in theaters, while some are on Netflix, 4K UHD, and Blu-ray, so you’ll be able to quickly see any of these if you haven’t. I watched over 270 movies that were released in 2017 and these are my absolute favorites. I hope you get to see all of these, because I know you’ll love them. In no particular order…..
Wonder Woman 4K UHD and Blu-ray Announced!
Hi everyone, Bryan here….
Perhaps the biggest movie of the summer and the one film to get DC and Warner Bros. back on track with their superhero films – WONDER WOMAN, is coming to 4K UHD, Blu-ray, 3D Blu-ray, and DVD. Warner is sure milking this for all its worth, since they are also releasing a 3D version of the film, even though 3D is dead in the water. The 4K UHD is the way to go for sure here if you have the right equipment. You can own the movie digitally as soon as August 29th, and you’ll be able to purchase the Blu-ray, 4K, 3D, and DVD on September 19th. There are tons of bonus features as well, which I can’t wait to watch. Official information below.
Celebrate The Life of Powers Boothe!!!
Hey guys, Jana here,
Powers Boothe
June 1, 1948 – Mar 14, 2017
When great entertainers pass away, it’s difficult to come up with the right way to mourn a life that still lives on for us in so many ways. The one way we can not just respect the life, but continue to enjoy the life they lived is with re-watching their movies that cement their presence in our lives.
Guess Who’s Playing Cable In ‘Deadpool 2’??
Hey guys, Jana here,
One of the most desirable roles in comic book movies has finally been cast. The curiosity is at an end. We finally know who will play Cable in ‘Deadpool 2‘, and it’s Josh Brolin. I’ll admit his casting doesn’t sit quite right with me, when I think of Cable, I think of Stephen Lang, but I’m certain Brolin will make the role his own and win over the fan base.
Film Review: ‘Atomica’!
Audrey E., here….
A radioactive desert. A stray nuclear power plant. What could possibly go wrong? SyFy thriller Atomica portrays an ambitious and newly promoted Chief Engineer at Auxilisun, played by Abby (Sarah Habel – ‘Whip It‘, ‘Riverdale‘), who is determined to prove herself by volunteering to visit the distant facility that has mysteriously lost communication.
Mister Sinister Will Be Villain in ‘Old Man Logan’ Movie!!!
Hey guys, Jana here,
We’ve known for a long time that a third sequel to the X-Men solo movies about Wolverine was coming. We’d even gotten some pretty solid leads on the fact that the Old Man Logan storyline is going to be the base for that film. Now, we have another tidbit of info that can give us an idea of how the film is coming together.
Chris Benoit Biopic In the Works!
Hi everyone, Bryan here….
In news I thought I’d never report on, Hollywood is making a Chris Benoit biopic with Lexi Alexander (Green Street Hooligans, Punisher: War Zone) in the director’s chair. if you’re unfamiliar with the name Chris Benoit, I’ll give you a little background. Chris Benoit is a taboo subject in the WWE and has been for an umber of years. Yes, the WWE as in World Wrestling Entertainment, where Chris Benoit was one of the best wrestlers and superstars the company has ever seen. He held the champion titles a number of times and was one of the best in the business in his career. His nickname was the Rabid Wolverine and was called Toothless Aggression, since he was missing a tooth.
There’s a New Kick-Ass Coming & She Will Slay!!!
Hey guys, Jana here,
Clear the way, nerdy, white guys, there’s a new superhero in town! She goes by the name of ‘Kick-Ass‘! I know, you’re thinking this can’t be, we know who Kick-Ass is and he’s a nerdy, white guy! Creator of the comic, Mark Millar is changing up the inhabitants of the world he created for Kick-Ass and assigning a new character to don the green suit. All we know about her is she’s African American and she’s a she.
Film Review: ‘X-MEN: APOCALYPSE’!
Hi everyone, Bryan Here….
And we are back with yet another ‘X-MEN‘ movie, marking this the 9th film in the franchise, that is if you count the ‘Wolverine’ movies and what not. If you’re just counting purely ‘X-MEN‘ films, than this is number six with it being number 4 from director Bryan Singer, who started this whole comic book movie crazy back sixteen years ago with the first ‘X-Men‘ film. From there, we have seen the Marvel and DC Universe take off into a multi-billion dollar industry. It’s quite mind boggling, and this new film ‘X-Men: Apocalypse‘ seems to take everything we’ve seen since Matthew Vaughn’s ‘First Class’ and sculpt it into this one film.
Film Review: ‘Eddie The Eagle’!
Hi everyone, Bryan Here….
Underdog stories are almost always fun. From ‘Miracle‘ to ‘Rocky‘ to even ‘Little Giants‘, these stories of regular people, who you normally wouldn’t pick for a sports team, prove that they have enough heart, guts, blood, and spirit to give it a real shot and make it to the top. Some of these films and television shows we’ve seen that have portrayed the ‘underdog’ scenario have been based on real people and real events, such as this one, ‘Eddie the Eagle‘. If you grew up during the 1980s, you might remember hearing about ‘Eddie the Eagle‘, who was a British Olympic ski jumper at the Calgary 1988 Olympics.
Film Review: ‘DEADPOOL’!
Fernando M., Here…
Well if there’s one comic book movie worth seeing, see this one! However, whatever you do, don’t take your kids. Hell, you probably wouldn’t want to take a date. If anyone reading this is familiar with the character of “Deadpool,” then you already know why. If you aren’t familiar with him, prepare to get educated.
Chloë Grace Moretz and Liev Schreiber’s ‘The 5th Wave’ Trailer Has Arrived!!!
Hey guys, Jana here,
Chloë Grace Moretz(‘Kick-Ass‘) , Liev Schreiber (‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine‘, ‘Salt‘), Maria Bello (‘Prisoners’, ‘A History of Violence’), Maggie Siff (‘Sons of Anarchy‘)and Ron Livingston (‘Office Space‘) star in J. Blakeson’s adaptation of Rick Yancey’s ‘The 5th Wave‘ novel set to debut on January 15, 2016.
Here’s a Cheat Sheet For ‘Old Man Logan’ – SPOILERS!!!!!
Hey guys, Jana here,
San Diego Comic-Con is all I’ve been talking about the last week, and with good reason! The epic trailers, the cast surprises, the tidbits of info that have been, previously, safely guarded. This week gives us a fantastic peek into the next year or two of film and gets us stoked for those release dates. One of the most exciting bits of information came from Wolverine himself, Hugh Jackman. He gave us three words that sent fans everywhere into a frenzied sort of glee as to what ‘Wolverine 3‘ could entail, myself included, those words were “Old. Man. Logan.” Boom!
SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!
Film Review: ‘SELF/LESS’!
Janet W., Here…
Picture this: You are dying from a fatal malady. Are you ready to leave the earth? Have you planned the last things you would do? Have you said goodbye to those you love? You realize you will never see them again, right? These surely were at least some of the thoughts flowing through the mind of Damian (Sir Ben Kingsley).
Is ‘Sister Act’ Getting Some Hollywood Plastic Surgery?
Hey guys, Jana here,
Brace yourselves, every habit-ish line, saying or phrase you can think of is about to be thrust upon you now that Disney has upped the ante on the remake game, announcing that ‘Sister Act‘ is on the block as the next title to be revamped. They’re Catholic, they’re nuns and nuns wear habits, got it.
Ryan Reynolds Is Back For ‘Deadpool’ Film!!!
Hey guys, Jana here,
It’s happening! It’s happening! It’s finally frakking happening!!! That collective fist punch performed round the world is for the newest Marvel film announcement. Anyone remember the spectacular ending of ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine‘ in 2009 when Wade Wilson debuted some superior fighting skills and weapon bad-assery as Deadpool? I do, I’ve dreamt of it, now we get some more!
Top 10 List: The 10 Most American Movies!!
Paul N., Here…
It’s that time of year again. Time to celebrate the founding of this nation by eating excessively and purchasing enough fireworks to create man-sized craters in the pavement. In honor of this time, here’s a list of the most ‘Murican movies ever. This isn’t a list of patriotic movies (though some of these could be seen as patriotic), so you aren’t going to see Saving Private Ryan or other true patriotic movies on here. This list focuses on those things that make America into ‘Murica – extreme excess and over-the-top…well, everything! [Cue eagle screech]
Film Review: ‘The Grand Seduction’!!
Janet W., Here…
The Grand Seduction with Taylor Kitsch sounds yummy, but this film is not that type of party. In the quaint town of Tickle Head, Newfoundland, the word of the day is “welfare”. The small harbor is struggling to stay afloat while generation after generation of fisherman had lived and worked in the small town. Sadly, since the fishing has dried up, the whole town is apparently on welfare. Their spirit is parched for any sense of self-worth. Mostly the older generation refused to leave, so when a petrochemical company is looking for a location for their new waste processing plant, the town bands together to get the contract.
‘Game of Thrones’ Writers Set To Adapt ‘Dirty White Boys’!!!
Hello, Jana here,
David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, framers and writers of the award winning series ‘Game of Thrones‘ have set their sites on a new project. Since converting George R.R. Martin’s novel into one of the most popular and award winning series, they have had little time for anything else. The demands of writing and executive producing GoT have left little time for other projects. With the fourth season premiering last Sunday, the pair have set their sites on another novel they are planning to convert to another media. This time, they are looking at a feature film, and the book they will be working from is ‘Dirty White Boys‘ from Stephen Hunter. Hunter also wrote ‘Point of Impact‘, the book that was turned into 2007’s ‘Shooter‘.
Helen Mirren and Ryan Reynolds Spin a Tale About Stolen Artwork!!!
Hello, Jana here,
Ryan Reynolds is the latest to join Helen Mirren in The Weinstein Company’s ‘Woman In Gold‘ or ‘The Golden Lady‘, not sure which title they are going to go with. Daniel Bruhl is in negotiations, at this point. Mirren will play real-life heroine Maria Altmann, a Jewish WWII survivor who fought the Austrian government to get back several paintings by Gustav Klimt that were stolen from her family during wartime. Reynolds will play the attorney who took this case despite knowing little about art and Bruhl, will play his adversary. Looks like George Clooney’s ‘The Monument’s Men‘ missed a few paintings.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson Closes Deal to Play Quicksilver in Marvel’s ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’!!!
Jana B., Here….
Before, I get into the future project of Aaron Taylor-Johnson, a.k.a. Kick Ass, let me just take a moment to express how absolutely gorgeous this guy looks without the frizzy hair of his first appearance as the normal dude turned vigilante. I kind of slid my eyes past him because I could not see the hottie he had hidden. I just checked out a picture of him and was freaking gobsmacked at the boy looking back at me that will be filling my night time thoughts. Yummy. Now that I’ve stated the obvious but important point of his looks I can get on with his new project.
Enjoy The Amazing Trailer for ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’!!!
Hi, Bryan Here…
Well, it’s finally here. After a couple of years of teasing the story line and casting, and the badass end credit sequence from the last ‘Wolverine‘ film, we now have a trailer for Bryan Singer’s ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past‘. Thanks to 20th Century Fox for releasing it just a few minutes ago. Singer directed the first two X-Men films and is back this time around, and has casts from both his films and the last one ‘X-Men: First Class‘. There will be epic superhero fights and even time travel.
Darren Aronofsky Might Take On The Espionage Genre With ‘Red Sparrow’!!!
Hi, Bryan Here….
Director Darren Aronofsky has been hard at work on his epic tale of ‘Noah’s Ark‘, after he left the ‘Wolverine‘ project. We’ve heard that he’s looking to develop a project on George Washington at some point, but now we hear that 20th Century Fox is reaching out to the director to develop another film. Aronofsky is currently in talks to make ‘Red Sparrow‘, an espionage thriller based on a book by Jason Matthews of the same name, which was published back in June.
Check Out The Amazing New Trailer for ‘Ender’s Game’!!!
Hi, Bryan Here….
Finally, the trailer for Orson Scott Card’s 1985 sci-fi opus is here. ‘Ender’s Game‘ looks pretty damn good and now I’m all hyped up for this film. Directed and written by Gavin Hood ‘(X-Men Origins: Wolverine‘), the film stars Asa Butterfield ‘(Hugo‘) as Andrew “Ender” Wiggin, a boy who demonstrates enormous potential in battling an oncoming alien invasion that threatens the human race.
‘Battleship’ Bluray Announced Detailed!!!
Hi, Bryan Here….
‘Battleship’ has a bluray heading our way August 28th. READ MY REVIEW HERE! It looks like there are tons of features on this release, and I anticipate this bluray look flawless and sounding even better. It looks like this bluray will come with the DVD, a Digital Copy, and the UltraViolet Copy. I’m very happy that we are getting a choice in a Digital Copy and UltraViolet. I’ll go Digital Copy 100% of the time, but I hope other studios take notice of this and start providing us with a choice. Looks like Amazon has the pre-order up for $24.99. Below are all the fixin’s you can expect with the release of”Battleship’ on Bluray.
Bryan Reviews Oliver Stone’s ‘Savages’!!!
Hi, Bryan Here….
After a few years of getting a softer side of Oliver Stone, Savages brings the director back to his ultra violent, drug induced, sex crazed, and savage side. Based on Don Winslow’s novel, Savages tells an intense tale of drugs, sex, and betrayal. I really missed this side of Oliver Stone. I’ve been hoping for a film that can be put in the same cookie jar as Natural Born Killers, Platoon, and U Turn. Instead, we have received films like Wall Street 2: Electric Boogaloo, W., and World Trade Center. By far not his best work nor interesting. So the big question is, “Did Oliver Stone deliver the goods on his return to a more sadistic film?”
Bryan Reviews ‘Real Steel’ Bluray!!! (A Bluray Review)
Hi Bryan Here…..
I was totally smitten with ‘Real Steel’. I went into the film thinking that it wasn’t going to do much for me, but I was blown away on how great this movie was. I really enjoyed it. The FX are top notch and it looks incredible on bluray. The extras are pretty decent as well. The movie warms the heart, has some very thrilling and tense fight scenes, and a bit of comedy. This could be fun for the whole family, and it will. I definitely recommend ‘Real Steel’.

Bryan Sits Down With ‘Snowflower and the Secret Fan’!!! (A Review)
Hi Bryan Here….
‘Snowflower and the Secret Fan’ is a film by Wayne Wang who is probably most known for his film ‘The Joy Luck Club’. Over the years Wang has directed movies such as ‘Smoke’, ‘Because of Winn-Dixie’, and ‘Maid in Manhattan’. These are a far cry from ‘Joy Luck Club’, ‘A Thousand Years of Good Prayers’ and his most recent ‘Snowflower and the Secret Fan’. I must say I am happy to see Wang return to the Chinese American storylines in his films. He does this effortlessly. ‘Snowflower and the Secret Fan’ is based on the novel by Lisa See.
Darren Aronofsky to Direct ‘Noah’s Ark’?!?!
Hi Bryan Here….
So this is the film Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan) dropped Wolverine for. So over the last month or so, Fox and Paramount have been bidding to acquire a big fantasy adaptation of ‘Noah’s Ark’. And Darren Aronofsky will be the director of it. This is expected to be a $100 million dollar budget film. Aronoksy originally wrote the script for this Ark project, but is being re-tooled by ‘Gladiator’ writer John Logan. I’m sure in the coming days, we will see who gets the film, but I’m sure Paramount will be victorious. At least we know it will be better than the Steve Carrell vehicle about ‘Noah’s Ark’. I’m actually looing forward to seeing this big budget fantasy tale come to life through the eyes that brought us ‘Requiem for a Dream’.

The “Real Steel” Trailer is Here and Holy Sh*t, It Will Blow You Away!!!!
Hi Bryan Here….
When we all heard that Hugh Jackman was going to star in a film about boxing robots, we all thought “Ummm Okay, I guess it could be cool but weird.” This trailer kicks so much ass!!! This movie is going to make tons and tons of money in the box office and merchandising. This is like every kids and adult males wet dream. Wolverine teaching huge ninja robots how to fight. Mix Rocky with robots and a father/ son story and you will make billions of dollars. It’s like a hard-on wrapped in gold.

Some pretty great classic titles this week, but a fairly weak new release week. But I love the heavy classic title weeks. It gives me a chance to watch some excellent filmmaking and remember all the films I saw when I was younger. And the best is, that most of them have the HI-DEF treatment, so it is like watching the movie for the first time. Some great titles. Classic Titles.
As usual, you will get some info about the disc and the extras that come with the movie as well as a personal opinion about the movie and a link to purchase the film over at AMAZON where you can save quite a bit of money, and it will give a small percentage kick back to this site so we can continue bringing you excellent stories and sales.

Comic Book Spotlight – 11/13/10
Drew here…
Between teaching science and preparing for a new baby to enter our family soon, this fall season has been incredibly busy for me. My goal is to write weekly comic reviews, though it’s all I can do to keep up with the books on my pull list each week right now. So in compromise, I will offer some weekly spotlights until I can get into a different routine. It’s no secret that I love comic books and there are actually very few that I’ve ever truly despised. I love every genre of the comic art form, and I’m always open to suggestions. Here are a couple of books I’ve read this week that you might want to check out:
X-MEN: FIRST CLASS CASTING NEWS!!
So the 1960’s set upcoming X-Men movie has pretty much all of its cast set in place with a possible addition of a cameo just added.
Marvel Comics Will Get the Tron Treatment…
Since Disney bought Marvel all those months ago, it is only right that Marvel will get to use the Disney brand of Tron in their comics.
Just like last Halloween, a lot of Marvel titles had alternate variant covers featuring Zombies. Such as the cover for an Amazing Spider-Man issue would have Spidey as a zombie on the front cover. You can see what those look like and purchase them HERE.
Well in anticipation for the upcoming release of the Tron sequel, “Tron: Legacy” Marvel is using their new ownership to riddle their titles and covers with Tron-Esque artwork. And they look BADASS.
Here is a list of what they will be:
• AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #651 TRON Variant, featuring Spider-Man
• AVENGERS #7 TRON Variant. featuring Spider-Woman
• AVENGERS ACADEMY #7 TRON Variant, featuring Quicksilver
• CAPTAIN AMERICA #612 TRON Variant, featuring Captain America
• INCREDIBLE HULKS #618 TRON Variant, featuring Ghost Rider
• INVINCIBLE IRON MAN #33 TRON Variant, featuring Iron Man
• NEW AVENGERS #7 TRON Variant, featuring Ms. Marvel
• SECRET AVENGERS #7 TRON Variant, featuring Moon Knight
• THOR #617 TRON Variant, featuring Thor
• WOLVERINE #4 TRON Variant, featuring Wolverine
These all will be released from November through December. Be sure to check the Boomstick Comics Store by clicking HERE to purchase these variant covers.
Below are what the covers will look like.
Bluray/DVD Releases For the 2nd Week of October
A few good releases this week. Some titles I have been waiting quite a while for to be released. Any week is good when you get a Wes Anderson Criterion movie. So, as usual, the picture links will whisk you away over to amazon, where you can learn more about each title, and purchase the movie for a great discount, which also donates a small percent to this column to keep this website going. Here we go….
The Darjeeling Limited (Criterion Collection Bluray)
I love this Wes Anderson film. A story about three brothers who are on an emotional and physical journey to come to terms with their lives, and their father’s death, and the disappearance of their mother. The whole entire film pretty much takes place in India which is BEAUTIFUL. The soundtrack is littered with Kinks songs which makes it a pleasure to listen to. Since being a Criterion Collection release, it is packed with extras which include:
New high-definition digital transfer approved by director Wes Anderson
Anderson’s short film Hotel Chevalier (part one of The Darjeeling Limited)
Audio commentary featuring Anderson and cowriters
Behind-the-scenes documentary by Barry Braverman
Anderson and filmmaker James Ivory discussing the film’s music
Anderson’s American Express commercial
On-set footage shot by Coppola and actor Waris Ahluwalia
Audition footage, deleted and alternate scenes, and stills galleries
Original theatrical trailer
PLUS: A booklet featuring an essay by critic Richard Brody

The Magician (Criterion Collection Bluray)
Ingmar Bergman’s The Magician (Ansiktet) is an engaging, brilliantly conceived tale of deceit from one of cinema’s premier illusionists. Max von Sydow stars as Dr. Vogler, a mid-nineteenth-century traveling mesmerist and peddler of potions whose magic is put to the test by a small town’s cruel, eminently rational minister of health, Dr. Vergerus. The result is a diabolically clever battle of wits that’s both frightening and funny, shot in rich, gorgeously gothic black and white.

Supplements
- New visual essay by Bergman scholar Peter Cowie
- Brief 1967 video interview with director Ingmar Bergman about the film
- Rare English-language audio interview with Bergman, conducted by filmmakers Olivier Assayas and Stig Björkman

With help from their allies, the heroic X-Men wage war against formidable foes as the present and future collide. But who will win? Discover for yourself as this extraordinary series is presented together in one complete collection like never before.

Leaves of Grass (Bluray)
I do not know much about this film, but I cannot believe this film did not get a major release. It stars Edward Norton, Richard Dreyfuss, Tim Blake Nelson, Susan Sarandon, and Keri Russell. An Ivy League professor is lured back to his Oklahoma hometown, where his twin brother, a small-time pot grower, has concocted a scheme to take down a local drug lord. Sounds awesome. I’ll be picking this up.
Well that’s it for this week. Stay tuned for next week for new releases.
