by Red Zeppelbon on Sep 27th, 2016

Hey guys, Jana here,

Steve McQueen (‘12 Years A Slave‘) is casting ‘Widows‘ for New Regency, and has a great star attached to begin with – Viola Davis. The project is based on the 1983 British miniseries based on a caper that went seven shades of wrong.

If you’re Tate Taylor, one thing you don’t do is mess with a recipe for success. After writing, directing and producing the multiple Oscar nominated film, The Help, he is sticking to the talent he originally recognized, and is bringing it to his current project. TROOP ZERO – Film Review!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jan 17th, 2020

“Troop Zero is one group I want to join forever.”

In what of the sweetest, most charming movies made in a long time, Troop Zero follows an unlikely group of elementary school kids in 1977 Georgia to get their voices on a NASA record sent to outer space. Directed by a women duo known as Bert and Bertie, along with screenwriter Lucy Alibar (co-writer of Beasts of the Southern Wild), this coming-of-age comedy has a heart of gold, some charismatic performances led by Mckenna Grace, and a killer soundtrack that all seems perfectly grounded by Viola Davis. You’ll be smiling for days after watching Troop Zero.

‘Widows’: Film Review!

by Gumbercules9000 on Nov 26th, 2018

Widows holds itself out as a female heist movie, somewhat in the vein of Ocean’s 8, but from start to finish it delivers a lot more punches. This is not a fun and fancy-free flick, and it definitely is more intense than the previews lead you to believe, so if you are looking for Ocean’s 8, go see Ocean’s 8. This film is dark, deep and twisty. What it does represent correctly from the outset is that Viola Davis is the baddest B around, and this lead role was made for her. Likewise, the rest of the cast seems to have been picked perfectly and shines in roles seemingly written for them.

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

The 89th Oscars were announced today. These are supposed to be the Best Achievements in Filmmaking on all levels. However, year after year, The Academy and “their infinite wisdom” choose to pick dull films that should never be nominated. In fact, I bet you could go through most of the Winners of each year and realize you only watched that film or performance once and never thought about it again. At least The Academy had a good bit of diversity this year, but other than that – these Oscar nominations are boring, dull, and made me go to sleep just watching the equally not-fun announcement telecast.

And the 2016 Golden Globe Nominees Are….

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 10th, 2015

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

The awards show is January 10 on NBC hosted by Ricky Gervais. First off, let’s look at something AWESOME here. ‘MAD MAX: FURY ROAD‘ is nominated for BEST PICTURE. It needs to win. It should win. And if does win, we all go streaking. That being said…I can’t believe that ‘Me and Earl and the Dying Girl‘ was not nominated for anything. Come on. It’s one of the BEST films of the year. It’s also interesting to see no love for the final season of ‘Mad Men’ her either. Oh well.

Here is the list of nominees:

Finally, the trailer for Orson Scott Card’s 1985 sci-fi opus is here. ‘Ender’s Game‘ looks pretty damn good and now I’m all hyped up for this film. Directed and written by Gavin Hood ‘(X-Men Origins: Wolverine‘), the film stars Asa Butterfield ‘(Hugo‘) as Andrew “Ender” Wiggin, a boy who demonstrates enormous potential in battling an oncoming alien invasion that threatens the human race.
