Palm Springs – Film Review!

by Bryan Kluger on Jul 14th, 2020

“Palm Springs might be one of my favorite romantic comedies in the last decade.”

Palm Springs might be one of my favorite romantic comedies in the last decade. The movie stars Andy Samberg as Nyles and Cristina Milioti as Sarah who finds themselves stuck in an endless time loop where they have to keep reliving the same day, which happens to be the day of Sarah’s sister’s wedding. Putting aside the obvious Groundhog Day comparisons the movie really does an incredible job of building on its premise and coming up with unique ways to push the story and characters forward. Saying much more about the plot would ruin the movie for a lot of people so the best advice I can give is don’t read too many reviews which seem to go out of their way to spoil some of the plot mechanisms.

Film Review: ‘Storks’!!

by Janet White on Sep 23rd, 2016

Hello Everyone, Janet W. here…

storks-baby

Addressing the age-old question of where do babies come from is Storks. Although the blessed service once performed by storks has now been discontinued. Hunter (Kelsey Grammer), the BBBBBBOOOOOOOOOSSSSSSSS (you’ll get it when you see the film), has converted the stork baby delivery business into a new direction, packages. Junior (Andy Samberg), a high achiever, is up for promotion to BBBBBBOOOOOOOOOSSSSSSSS. One condition looms over his ascension, and it involves a girl named Tulip (Katie Crown, they should have named her Calamity Jane). With this little vixen, Junior’s life will never be the same. Film Review: ‘Hotel Transylvania 2’!

by Bryan Kluger on Sep 26th, 2015

Janet W., Here…

o-HOTEL-TRANSYLVANIA-2-facebook

Through the misty clouds we swoop over the land and into Hotel Transylvania.  Immediately, I wish I could have viewed the film in 3D as it will be available in release.  Next, a large banner is unfurled.  Jonathan (Andy Samberg) and Mavis (Selena Gomez) are getting married.  Jonathan’s straight-laced suburban family is introduced to Mavis’ comical yet ghastly family.  Wait until you see the wedding photos.

Sleater Kinney Has A Badass New Music Video!

by Bryan Kluger on Jan 15th, 2015

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

Sleater-Kinney

I’ve been a HUGE fan of Sleater-Kinney since 2000. On the old radio show in college (KJHK), we used to play their music all the time, particularly one of my favorites, “Oh!‘ off their One Beat album. This all-chick rock band is as badass as it gets in rock music. Not to mention the drummer’s name is Janet Weiss (you should get that reference). But we told you that they were releasing a new album soon, which is called ‘No Cities to Love‘, which will hit shelves on the 20th. Highly suggest you pick it up.

Film Review: ‘Neighbors’!!

by Bryan Kluger on May 8th, 2014

Black Mariah Here…

Neighbors-Movie-Still-1

Let me start off this review by saying comedy movies have gone straight downhill in the past 10 years. I don’t know what demographic survey told movie studios that we wanted our comedies with a side of moral lesson, but this girl, for one, HATES my comedies anywhere near a moral lesson (I’m looking at you ‘Bridesmaids‘).  I truly miss the golden era of Adam Sandler films and comedy recordings. Sometimes settling into a good dick and fart joke film is just what you need. Don’t think about the humor, it’s just funny!

Kim L., Here….

to-do-list-aubrey-plaza

The To Do List‘ is very funny and the trailers do not do it justice.  I was pleasantly surprised by how much I laughed out loud. The film is set in 1993 and follows a recent high school graduate, Brandy Klark played by Aubrey Plaza, who wants to be more experienced sexually before going off to college.  She makes a “To Do List” or as I like to call it a “Sexual Bucket List”.

Misty S. Delivers Her Thoughts On ‘Grown Ups 2’!!!

by Bryan Kluger on Jul 11th, 2013

Misty S., Here….

grown-ups-2-1

Adam Sandler, the founder of Happy Madison films, has used the same formula for every movie that he has ever done. He took some of his unknown buddies that have all started in his first movie “Billy Madison” and every movie since, combined with his ‘Saturday Night Live‘ buddies and throws in some big guest appearances for added entertainment to create a comedic movie that all will love and flock to go see in the theaters. Sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn’t. This time, though, it did better than I expected it to. ‘Grown Ups 2‘, the obvious sequel to ‘Grown Ups‘, came and delivered, even with all the press and hype to it. This movie is not really a sequel since it can be watched without seeing the first one, but when one does not know what to call a “sequel”, just add a #2 to it. Adam Sandler, David Spade, Chris Rock and Kevin James have the chemistry and natural banter, like they had in the first one, that makes the movie ebb and flow without hardly any slow or unfunny scenes to sit through. There are, however, the same jokes that you see in all of the Happy Madison films and even on ‘Saturday Night Live‘. This is the type of film that when you walk into it, you are already knowledgeable of what is going to happen.

Adam Sandler’s Next Film Will Be….

by Bryan Kluger on Oct 26th, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

‘Ridiculous 6’ is the title of the next Adam Sandler film, which he will be producing under his Happy Madison production label.  It will be a comedy western this go around, with the title sort of resembling the 1960 epic western ‘The Magnificent Seven’.  We can only imagine what Sandler and his people will do with this .

Bryan Reviews ‘The Watch’!!!

by Bryan Kluger on Jul 27th, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

I was excited to see ‘The Watch’ when I sat in my theater chair.  I’m a fan of Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Jonah Hill, and Richard Ayoade.  And I thought the premise of the film was going to be a lot of fun as well, mixing a vulgar humor guy comedy film with a full scale alien invasion.  It sounds good on paper with that plot and cast.  Unfortunately, Hill, Stiller, and Vaughn play the same character they have played in their last seven movies.  The script is lethargic throughout the entire film with the exception of a few lines of dialogue that I suspect was improv.  And that feels weird to say since the script was credited to Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and Jared Stern.  While ‘The Watch’ has a decent premise and stellar cast, the mark is missed by a good 1000 yards.

Adam Sandler to Play Dracula?!?!

by Bryan Kluger on Jul 5th, 2011

Hi Bryan Here….

Sony Animation has hired Adam Sandler to lead a voice cast for their new animated project ‘Hotel Transylvania’ in which Sandler will play the famous Dracula.  Kevin James, Fran Drescher, David Spade, Steve Buscemi, Molly Shannon, Cee Lo Green and Andy Samberg also have been cast.  I hope for the best for this film, but I just can’t see this being good.

And The Golden Globe Nominees Are….

by Bryan Kluger on Dec 12th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here….

1355416686-golden_globe_awards

Here are the nominees for the 2014 Golden Globe Awards. Wow, there were a lot of snubs here. And how did ‘Rush‘ make the list for Best Picture? No way! And what about ‘The Way Way Back‘, ‘Mud‘, or ‘Short Term 12‘ not being nominated? For shame. Let me know what you think of this nominee list?

Bryan Reviews ‘That’s My Boy’!!!

by Bryan Kluger on Jun 15th, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

We all still love Adam Sandler.  He gave us great characters in Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, and his many iconic roles on Saturday Night Live.  But at some point, Sandler started making lazy, unfunny, and obnoxious films and characters.  It made me not want to see any of his films.  There were a few brief moments of greatness from him over the past several years in his more dramatic roles, but when it came to his comedies, Sandler and his films have become a joke.  His last film, ‘Jack and Jill’ was one of the worst films to come out in the last twenty years, with his previous comedies not too far off from that.  That being said, Sandler’s ‘That’s My Boy’ is his welcome back party. A welcome back to the great comedic genius he was once known for.
