Bryan’s Top 20 Films of 2012!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 31st, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

I can’t believe that 2012 is at its end and we are about to welcome 2013.  This year has gone by so fast, and man, did I see tons of films.  When I started making this 2012 list, I came up with 87 films that I enjoyed.  Yes, you read that right, 87, meaning there were probably just as many films that I didn’t enjoy.  Now, below is my top 20 of the year. I just couldn’t do it with 10 this year.  And these are films that I watched in the theater or at home and that don’t necessarily come out this year, but I did see this year.  And I’m sure I’ll get a lot of criticism for my list, but hey this is my list, not yours.  You can have your own.  But my lists tend to be different than most people’s as you can tell from my previous lists HERE. So without any further delay, below is my TOP 20 films for 2012.

2012 Emmy Award Winners!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 24th, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

Below is the list of the winners for the 2012 Prime-Time Emmy Award Winners.  I don’t  see how ‘Modern Family’ and ‘Two and Half Men’ win anything.  They shouldn’t win any kind of award when they go up against shows like ‘Mad Men’, ‘Game of Thrones’, and ‘Breaking Bad’.  The Emmy judges need to be fired and never allowed to pick winners ever again.  However, much congratulations to ‘Homeland’, ‘Downton Abbey’, Aaron Paul, ‘Veep’, and ‘American Horror Story’

Criterion Collection Titles For December 2012!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 17th, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

The good folks over at Criterion have just announced their titles for December, 2012.  There are some really cool titles for December.  One  title I have waited for years to own on criterion.  Another title is actually Christopher Nolan’s first film, ‘Following’, which is very exciting.  If this is any indication, we might get future Nolan films on Criterion sooner than later, which means a possible Dark Knight Criterion. After all, with Criterion, most director’s who get a film in at Criterion, tend to get more of their films in that pot.   So here’s hoping.  Sadly, no announcement of ‘Good Burger’ or any of the Ernest movies yet, but hopefully in the year 2013, we will get at least one of those.  I can’t wait until December now.  Thanks, Criterion.  Thanks.

Mike P. Here….

I had the privilege of attending WWE Summerslam and WWE Axxess yesterday. Special thanks to my lovely and patient girlfriend, who willingly stuck around for 9 hours in the WWE Universe with a guy who spent 20 minutes scheming how to shirk the rules to get a photograph with Dolph Ziggler. My review of the event itself is below, with the matches ranked in descending order by how much I enjoyed them.

R.I.P. Tony Scott! 1944-2012!

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 20th, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

I grew up on Tony Scott films.  From ‘Top Gun’, ‘Days of Thunder’, ‘Beverly Hills Cop II’, ‘Crimson Tide’, ‘True Romance’, and ‘The Last Boy Scout’.  Not to mention several others from the past few years.  Scott committed suicide at the age of 68 by jumping off a bridge near Long Beach.  This is difficult to process, as to why he felt he needed to do this, and how great a filmmaker he was.

Movie Quotes

[the storm troopers are taken prisoner by Calrissian's men]
Lando Calrissian:
Well done. Get them to the security tower, and keep it quiet. Move.
[Lando hands Leia the imperials' weapons and starts taking off Chewie's cuffs]
Princess Leia:
What do you think you're doing?
Lando Calrissian:
We're getting out of here.
C-3PO:
I knew all along. Had to be a mistake.
Princess Leia:
[angrily] Do you think that after what you did to Han that we're going to trust you?
[Chewie grabs Lando by the throat]
Lando Calrissian:
[choking] I had no choice!
C-3PO:
What are you doing? Trust him, trust him!
Princess Leia:
Oh, well, we understand, don't we, Chewie. You had "no choice".
Lando Calrissian:
Just trying to help...
Princess Leia:
We don't *need* any of your help.
Lando Calrissian:
[gasps] Han! Ha- Ha...
Princess Leia:
What?
Lando Calrissian:
HAN!
C-3PO:
It sounds like Han!
Lando Calrissian:
[gasping] There's still a chance to save Han! At the east... platform!
Princess Leia:
Chewie!
[Leia gets Chewie to drop Lando]
C-3PO:
I'm terribly sorry about all this. After all, he's only a Wookiee!
