‘Obsession’ – Blu-ray Review!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jan 7th, 2019

Back in 1976, director Brian De Palma (Scarface) and writer Paul Schrader (Taxi Driver) collaborated on a movie titled ‘Obsession‘. It was their tribute to Alfred Hitchcock’sVertigo‘ and starred Cliff Robertson and John Lithgow. The film touches on a few taboo subjects, but is nowhere near as violent as the previous mentioned films. ‘Obsession‘ is actually quite a masterpiece of the late 1970s that features a very melodramatic and thrilling story that takes you on a terrifying journey of a man who is still grieving his deceased wife and daughter.

It’s hard to believe, but ‘Carrie‘ is celebrating 40 years in an epic way. What’s a more apropos way to mark 40 years of a prom-related movie, than with a 1970s prom-themed fan event and fundraiser that combines a screening with a reunion of the cast and crew?!

For the inaugural event of Wizard World’s Comic Con in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the guests were in abundance. I was extremely excited to sit in on a panel Q&A by Robert Englund. Before Englund took the stage, the audience got a special teaser for his newest film, ‘Fear Clinic‘. The film which doesn’t open until February of 2015 can be seen earlier if you are fortunate enough to be able to attend NYC HorrorFest where ‘Fear Clinic‘ will be the official opener.

Hi Bryan Here….

That’s right.  Universal has hired David Ayer to write the script for the updated version of Scarface.  We wrote about this a month or two ago about how this Scarface won’t necessarily be a sequel or remake, but rather just and updated version.  The film will put a new spin on the outlaw tale first released in 1932 with Paul Muni playing an Italian who took over Chicago, and then turned into the ultra violent 1983 film that starred Al Pacino as Tony Montana, a Cuban who took over the cocaine trade in 1980s Miami.
