by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 24th, 2017

One of the best war films of the last few years is coming to 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and Digital Streaming soon. Of course, I’m talking about ‘Dunkirk‘. In fact, you can watch the film digitally, starting on December 12th on iTunes, Vudu, or Amazon. You can purchase the actual 4K UHD Disc on December 19th, which is just in time for the holidays. The release comes with a treasure trove of behind the scenes featurettes that show just how the movie was made and what all went in to it. Below is the official release.

Film Review: Dunkirk!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jul 19th, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

There’s never been a war film like Dunkirk, which I’d say is a masterpiece in filmmaking, lead by Christopher Nolan (Inception, The Dark Knight Trilogy). Even though Dunkirk cost $150 million to make, you really wouldn’t know it, as it’s simplistic, yet grand view of the Battle and Evacuation of Dunkirk in 1940 is perfectly captured here. Dunkirk is why we still go to the movies. It’s one of the most intense movies I’ve ever seen and is one of the reasons to get out and see it in IMAX. Other war films try add sweeping music to add an emotional effect or certain camera angles to drum up more dramatic suspense.

If you’re like me, then you have grown to love filmmaker Christopher Nolan over the years. Come December 19th, most of his films will be released on 4K UHD for the first time ever. The films include the ‘Dark Knight Trilogy‘, ‘Inception‘, ‘The Prestige‘, ‘Interstellar‘, and the recent ‘Dunkirk‘. Each film will come with HDR as well, meaning a richer and deeper looking image for each movie. Each film will feature extras, the standard Blu-ray Disc, and Digital Copies of each movie. The whole collection will retail at about $150 with the ‘Dark Knight Trilogy‘ retailing at around $70. Of course with the holidays coming up, expect big discounts everywhere for these.

Film Review: ‘The Killing of a Sacred Deer’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 28th, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

Yorgos Lanthimos will hopefully be a household name in the coming years. The filmmaker just has an uncanny knack for the uncomfortable and weird while telling very compelling and twisted stories that will no doubt entertain us and make us think about it long after viewing his work. Coming off of films like ‘The Lobster‘ and ‘Dogtooth‘, the Greek filmmaker unleashes his best film to date with ‘The Killing of a Sacred Deer‘, which could be Stanley Kubrick’s ‘Eyes Wide Shut’s‘ sibling in both style and tone.
