Sacha Baron Cohen Set To Play Freddie Mercury

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 17th, 2010

Sacha Baron Cohen shot to fame with his character “Borat” a few years ago.  You might remember him from “Da Ali G Show” or from the more recent “Bruno” movie where he played an outlandishly gay character.  Also you could have caught a glimpse of Sacha in “Talladega Nights” or “Sweeney Todd”.

Now Cohen has signed on to star as Queen frontman in the biopic of Freddie Mercury.  I think Sacha has a lot of talent in character acting and I am very excited to see him take on a more serious role in this manner.  Kinda like Jim Carrey did with Andy Kaufman in Man On The Moon.

The project has reportedly secured right to such Queen hits as “We Are The Champions,” “We Will Rock You” and “Bohemian Rhapsody.”  I wonder if we will see David Bowie in this picture anywhere with “Under Pressue”?

And don’t forget that Cohen has some singing experience from “Sweeney Todd”.

Hey guys, Jana here,

Bohemian Rhapsody may be something that we connect with ‘Wayne’s Wold‘, and for good reason, but Mike Myers is not content to leave it at that. The jokester is courting director Bryan Singer and negotiating for a role in a film about the greatest of the great, Queen.

New music releases from now defunct bands or artists that have passed on isn’t really a new thing. We’ve seen enough posthumous releases that nothing should really shock us anymore, right? Every now and them a producer comes up with a mind-blowing vision to have current artists cover titles from an artist’s catalog to give it a face lift while still keeping a little something of the original artist. Covers are a hard tightrope to walk, you know? Either there’s no way in hell you can live up to the original hype or the new version sounds so good you make everyone feel guilty for liking it more than the former.

Comic Con: Dallas Fan Days 2015!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Feb 9th, 2015

Hillary T., Here…

cc011

As a fangirl, I love comics and dressing up. I love being someone else for one day and let’s not lie, Comic Con is my mother ship. This weekend was no exception. I spent two days basking the glory and adoration that was formerly Sci-Fi Expo and is now Fan Days 2.0! It’s my family, and walking through the doors of the Irving Convention Center is always like being at home. It is very much like a space ship or the Sandcrawler from ‘Star Wars’, with its four levels, an over powering awning, and yet, when the parking attendant took mine and Taylor’s (lead camera) money, we were excited and ready to get out of the car and start mingling with everyone and see what Fan Days 2015 had to offer. I decided to go ahead and dress up, because hey, who doesn’t like it when press looks like someone else? My costume of choice? Totally obscure and amazing! I was ready to go as Special Agent Dale Cooper, from Twin Peaks. I even brought along a thermos of “Damn fine coffee,” and a bag of donuts. Dead Laura Palmer would be waiting for me at the convention, for sure!
