Movie Box Office Weekend Roundup
by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 19th, 2010
Ben Affleck is on top again at the box office. His movie “The Town: starring himself and John Hamm from the AMC series “Mad Men” is number 1 at the box office this weekend bringing in almost $24 million dollars.
Coming in at number 2 is the teen comedy “Easy A”. This movie is loosely based on the classic novel “The Scarlet Letter”. It brought in a little over $18 million dollars. It only had a budget of $8 million. So kudos there. Read Cowdefender’s review HERE.
At number 3 is the M. Night Shyamalan film “Devil” bringing in a little over $12.5 million dollars. This is the first in series of films thought up by M. Night Shyamlan who other people write and direct. Supposed to be a creepy film. Read Cowdefender’s review HERE.
Resident Evil: Afterlife went from the top spot last week to number 4 this week bringing in $10 million for a combined two week total of $44 million dollars.
George Clooney’s “The American” went from the number 3 spot to the number 7 spot this week bringing in about $2.7 million dollars for a combined three week total of about $32.8 million dollars.
In a surprising movie, the blockbuster hit “Inception” went from being number 10 last week to number 8 this week bringing in a little over $2 million dollars for a combined 10 week total of a little over $285 million dollars.
Machete came in at number 10 bringing in $1.7 million dollars for a combined 3 weeke total of about $25 million dollars which has surpassed its budget. Hopefully this means sequel.
Also something to note is Sly Stallone’s “The Expendables”. It came in at number 12 bringing in $1.4 million dollars for a combined 6 week total of $101 million dollars. That is an uber violent rated “R” film bringing in that much money. Kudos Sly. Kudos.
That’s it for this week. Stay tuned for next weekend.
