Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

I had the distinct pleasure to talk with Australian Director, Jennifer Kent on her new amazing film ‘The Babadook‘, which is the scariest film since Stanley Kubrick’sThe Shining‘. I saw ‘The Babadook’ at Fantastic Fest 2014 in Austin, Texas, and needless to say, I had trouble sleeping in my hotel room that night. Jennifer was in Los Angeles, discussing some upcoming projects with big film studios and executives, and she took some time out of her busy day to chat with my about movies, life, and ‘The Babadook‘. Enjoy the audio interview below and go see ‘The Babadook‘. It’ll scare the shit out of you.

‘Nightingale’ – Film Review!

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 8th, 2019

“In all of its bloody chaos, you can still find the beauty within ‘Nightingale’.”

The 2014 feature film ‘The Babadook took the world by storm. The horror that Australian writer-director Jennifer Kent created in that movie was refreshing and original. It quickly became a genre favorite amongst horror fans and myself where I still watch it five years later on a regular basis. Kent’s second film ‘Nightingale‘ is a huge deviation from ‘The Babadook‘ in tone, style, and time, although the semblance of a mother-daughter relationship is rooted in the story. This period piece is an ultra-violent thriller that goes for the realistic approach where a woman who underwent the vilest attack sets out on a revenge journey to confront her assailants in Australia’s blood-soaked 19th century.

The New Trailer for ‘The Babadook’ Is Scary As Hell!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 15th, 2014

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

One film that peaked my interested back a few months ago was a little film called ‘The Babadook‘. We even wrote about it HERE, and you can tell that it has been scaring audiences all year at festivals and secret screenings. The film is a horror movie about a monster terrorizing a family, and it seriously looks scary as hell. Jennifer Kent wrote and directed the film, and I feel she has a bright future ahead of her.

Entertainment One International will release the film, which is a monster/boogeyman movie. Enjoy the trailer and poster.

Film Review: ‘Draft Day’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Apr 10th, 2014

Rebecca S., Here…

I have not been excited about a Kevin Costner movie since before I had my first kiss, which was Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. And that came out in 1991 when I was 11, and let’s face it, I was going to see Christian Slater.  It was the last Costner movie that I saw in theaters, though I have sat through or fallen asleep during his other films like Waterworld and The Postman.  So when I was asked to go see Draft Day, a movie I knew absolutely nothing about going into the theater except that it was about either the NFL or NBA  (Do other sports have draft days?), I took my husband along for moral support/sports clarification just in case. This movie had all the makings of a perfect storm of being truly awful and I had a depraved eagerness to write this review in order to drop the hate bomb on Costner. But man, was I wrong. This movie was good. Really good.
