Hey guys, Jana here,

Donnie Darko‘ is a 2001 film from Richard Kelly (‘The Box‘, ‘Domino‘) that boasts of a ridiculously star-studded cast and is one of the first films mentioned when putting together a list of cult-classics. It’s been released in what seems like a dozen different formats, but we’re looking at a 4K release now!

Kelly announced on Twitter that he was working on a 4K transfer with Arrow Films that should be available around the holidays, and who isn’t excited about that?! The cast features Jake Gyllenhaal, James Duval, Daveigh Chase, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Patrick Swayze, Seth Rogen, Drew Barrymore and Jena Malone.

Donnie Darko doesn’t get along too well with his family, his teachers and his classmates; but he does manage to find a sympathetic friend in Gretchen, who agrees to date him. He has a compassionate psychiatrist, who discovers hypnosis is the means to unlock hidden secrets. His other companion may not be a true ally. Donnie has a friend named Frank – a large bunny which only Donnie can see. When an engine falls off a plane and destroys his bedroom, Donnie is not there. Both the event, and Donnie’s escape, seem to have been caused by supernatural events. Donnie’s mental illness, if such it is, may never allow him to find out for sure.

Look, White, I know that we've had our differences in the past...
White Goodman:
Differences? Is that what you call sleeping with three of my female trainers?
Peter La Fleur:
That was one night.
White Goodman:
Or what about that strip-o-gram you sent me for the Globo Gym one year anniversary?
Peter La Fleur:
The stripper was meant to be congratulatory.
White Goodman:
It was also a man!
