THE HUNT- Film Review!

by Gumbercules9000 on Mar 13th, 2020

“The Hunt is a hell-0f-an entertaining film and loads of fun.”

Director Craig Zobel (Compliance), producer Jason Blum, and writers (Carlton Cuse, Damon Lindelof) of LOST fame could have never predicted the events that led up to their film The Hunt being canceled and moved back months after its original debut on the big screen. Not only were there a couple of mass shootings that occurred, but the current US President mentioned the film in a negative way without seeing it and thus had this funny-as-hell and bloody good time of a movie pushed later in the year. With that insane amount of free publicity, The Hunt became the most curious film to see, which was certain to raise major controversy with its subject matter – being a modern-day Battle Royale between the extreme political divide of this country. The result is a significantly funny film that mixes in some major slapstick violence that would make Quentin Tarantino excited along with some corny dialogue and a few subtle witty ideas. The Hunt is a ton of fun and gives a healthy poke to both sides of the spectrum.

Hey guys, Jana here,

Amazon is in the CIA business, well the business of running a TV series based on a CIA hero – Jack Ryan. The streamer ordered 10 episodes  straight-to-series for the drama that will star John Krasinski as Ryan. The project comes from Carlton Cuse, writer Graham Roland, Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes, Skydance Media and Paramount TV. Three scripts have been submitted by Cuse and Roland which likely helped with the straight-to-series order, not as much as snagging Krasinski for the lead though.

Film Review: ‘San Andreas’!

by Gumbercules9000 on May 29th, 2015

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

San-Andreas-3D-Movie-Wiki-563x353

It’s certainly been a while since we got to sit through an epic disaster film that featured earthquakes, volcanoes, twisters, a giant monster lizard, or even a ‘Sharknado‘. Luckily for us, the summer of 2015 has given us ‘San Andreas‘, a full-scale earthquake action picture starring Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. It shouldn’t be any surprise that director Brad Peyton has teamed up with The Rock again for this disaster flick since their previous ‘Journey 2: The Mysterious Island‘ did so well. Add on ‘Lost‘ writer Carlton Cuse, and you have ‘San Andreas‘, the movie that should be able to hold the championship belt at the box office, at least for a week or two.

A&E has a new series coming out called ‘The Returned‘ and is headed up by ‘Lost‘ show-runner Carlton Cuse. The 10-episode first season has just cast its lead, which is the beautiful and talented Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Winstead is known for playing Ramona Flowers in Edgar Wright’sScott Pilgrim vs. the World‘ film, but could be seen in Quentin Tarantino’sDeath Proof‘ and the recent prequel to ‘The Thing‘. Winstead was sought after by tons of executives and directors this pilot season and it looks like Cuse won out.

Hi, Bryan Here….

This is awesome news.  I am currently reading this trilogy right now.  I’m almost done with book two, and I have wanted a film or television adaptation of this book since I heard about it.  I think we got a small glimpse of it with ‘Blade 2’ as the vampire mutants are very similar to the vampire plague in this book, ‘The Strain’.  Carlton Cuse will head up the television show, which Cuse was a big part of ‘LOST’ and ‘The Adventures of Brisco County Jr.’   The series will be over at FX, which has only committed to a pilot, but I expect it to be brought to series fairly soon.  Del Toro will write, direct and executive produce the pilot.

Hi Bryan Here….

WOW!  The cheapest ‘LOST’ ever.  I’m not sure for how long, but the entire series of ‘LOST’ is currently on sale for 64% off.  This is that badass bluray set that is in the shape of the island and comes with games and secret compartments.  The set is currently on sale for $99.  This is the cheapest it has ever been, but who knows for how long it will be on sale.  Take advantage if you are a ‘LOST’ fan.

The Saddest Moments in TV History!

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 17th, 2019

Days are getting shorter and it’s starting to feel slightly cooler outside. It’s the end of summer and the beginning of autumn where leaves start to fall and orange spiced everything is available for mass consumption. This new season also signifies going back to school, starting something new whether it be a different job or living in another city. Whatever the case may be, it’s for sure an emotional ride.

Thank goodness for entertaining television though, right?

Film Review: ‘Venom’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 4th, 2018

Venom is the latest example of a movie trying to be too many things. I don’t know if we need to blame the writers, director, or studio tinkering but somehow this movie attempts to be everything to everyone and fails miserably. That isn’t to say its a bad time at the movies, I actually truly enjoyed some aspects of Venom. I think if the movie focused on trying to do one thing instead of a million it may have been one of the best comic book movies in years. Instead, as a whole, it should be launched into space.

WARNING: THIS REVIEW WILL HAVE SPOILERS

My Lady, let me come with you.

There is no danger. The fighting is over, and... this is personal.

Captain Typho:
As you wish, My Lady... but I strongly disagree.

I'll be all right, Captain. This is something I must do myself. Besides, Threepio will look after me.
