Hi, Bryan Here….

Say it isn’t so folks.  J.J. Abrams is moving from ‘Star Trek‘ to ‘Star Wars‘ according to sources close to Lucas film and Abrams. “It’s done deal with J.J.,” said a source close to the project.  Interesting enough, Ben Affleck was being looked at to helm the next film as well, but Kathleen Kennedy (who is a big collaborator with Lucas and Spielberg), heavily courted Abrams for the gig.

Abrams’ version of ‘Star Wars Episode VII‘ will be the first ‘Star Wars‘ film in more than decade, which is being written by Michael Arndt who wrote ‘Little Miss Sunshine‘ and ‘Toy Story 3‘. I bet Abrams will take a stab at writing with him as well.  Looks like Disney is fast tracking this one since the buyout of Lucas films since they want this new flick out by 2015.

It will be interesting to see a what Abrams does with it.
