We’ve known for a long time that a third sequel to the X-Men solo movies about Wolverine was coming. We’d even gotten some pretty solid leads on the fact that the Old Man Logan storyline is going to be the base for that film. Now, we have another tidbit of info that can give us an idea of how the film is coming together.

We have a pretty solid tip that Nathaniel Essex will be a villain in the tertiary solo film. Essex goes by another name in the Marvel world and it’s Minister Sinister. ‘X-Men: Apocalypse‘ director, Bryan Singer, made the remark in the audio commentary for Apocalypse. Sinister is one of the most powerful opponents in the Marvel Universe. He is also the creator behind several of the X-Men, including a clone of Wolverine, however the clone is not up to speed with the real Wolverine and his cells do not regenerate in the same lightning-quick way.

One thing we do know for sure is this will be the last time we will see Hugh Jackman portray Wolverine on the big screen and likely the last time we will see Patrick Stewart as the venerable Professor X. While Logan’s future embodiment is unsure, James McAvoy has done a wonderful job in setting himself up as heir to the throne by playing the professor during earlier years. We still have tons of questions, but answers are (slowly) coming.
