Hey guys, Jana here,

May 19, 2017 is going to be the day the latest of the TV to movie remakes hits the big screen. No matter what the weather is like outside the theater, it’s going to be bright and sunny on the California sands in ‘Baywatch‘.

We’ve known the project has been in the works for a while now and considering the series touted the likes of David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson, so it wasn’t a stretch to see Dwayne Johnson, Zac Efron and Kelly Rohrback attached to the big screen adaptation. The premise is simple, two unlikely prospective lifeguards vie for jobs alongside the buff bodies who patrol a beach in California.

Anderson is as synonymous with the series as Hasselhoff is, so it’s no surprise that both will be appearing in the film. The series ran from 1989-2001 and Anderson introduced the world to the character of CJ Parker. Anderson was on the show from 1992-1997 and she won’t be portraying the same character. Johnson posted an Instagram photo welcoming Anderson back home and to the cast.

Seth Gordon (‘Identity Thief‘, ‘Horrible Bosses‘) will direct the picture. Johnson and partner Dany Garcia are producing through their Seven Bucks Productions. Additional producers are Beau Flynn and Ivan Reitman, Michael Berk with Douglas Schwartz and Greg Bonann.
