“I want to play a game.” With no direction, no story and no names attached, we can only announce that Saw VIII is heading back to big screens everywhere. The Saw franchise focuses on a human’s survival instinct and let’s not forget the torture porn aspect. The legacy of Jigsaw will no doubt be at play here. As to how that will come about is anyone’s guess.

Franchise creators James Wan and Leigh Whannell hit pay dirt when they took the film idea from Australia, where they had no luck getting the film funded, moving it to Los Angeles where they got the green light to produce the first in a series of seven films, to date. Each of the Saw movies was released in October before Halloween. Prime time for a gory thriller.

In the three years since the last Saw film, Saw 3D and the Paranormal Activity series has taken over as the king of screams for October. There is still the unknown as to if the new feature will be a continuation as Saw VIII or if there will be a complete re-boot of the movie. But there seems to be no rush on this film right now, so I imagine within the next two to three years, we will have yet another ‘Saw‘ film.
