‘Sicario‘ was one of the better films of 2015. It was only fitting that we would receive a sequel called ‘Sicario 2: Soldado‘ that stars Benicio Del Toro, Josh Brolin, Isabela Moner, Jeffrey Donovan, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, and Catherine Keener. In this sequel, Benicio and Brolin team up to fight the cartel and their terrorist on US soil, which looks to be super violent and suspenseful. Taylor Sheridan has returned to write the screenplay, but director Denis Villeneuve (Arrival, Blade Runner 2049) has not returned.
Instead, it’s Stefano Sollima, who has only done mostly television shows throughout his career, but going by the trailer, this one looks great, if not as good as the first film. The trailer has a ton of gun blasts, helicopters flying overhead, car chases, explosions, and one great clip of Benicio Del Toro laying waste to a guy in a business suit. It has me all excited to see the carnage of what’s to come for sure. Of course, Josh Brolin is going to be great in this as will Benicio Del Toro. If this movie is as good as the trailer, we are in for a real treat, and let’s hope we will get more movies in this hellish world. The first film came out in 2015 and made about $85 million on a $30 million dollar budget. That’s a pretty good return and definitely incites a sequel, which now we have.
Critics and fans put ‘Sicario‘ on their Best Of Lists in 2015 with good reason. Let’s just hope the new film comes with all of the violence and greatness of the first film. Anyway, take a look at the amazing trailer for ‘Sicario 2: Soldado‘, because I’m sure it will make my Best of List for 2018. If not, I’ll be very disappointed. That reminds me, we need a Benicio and Brolin comedy action movie.
