Hi Bryan Here….

Mel Gibson and Warner Bros. are temaing up to make a film about the life of Judah Maccabee, the warrior whose ancient victory is celebrated by Hanukkah.  Gibson’s Icon Productions has teamed with Warner Bros. to produce the film with Joe Eszterhas writing the script.  After the script is done, Gibson will then decide if he will direct.  It is also a possibility that Gibson would choose to act in the film as well.

Icon is saying this will be a follow up to Gibson’s ‘Passion of the Christ’ film which is the most successful rated R film of all time.  I personally thought the film was boring and poorly made, however his ‘Apocolypto’ movie was fucking AWESOME!!  They are going to try and make this Judah Maccabee film resonate the tones and epicness of ‘Braveheart’.  The writer Joe Eszterhas, wrote ‘Basic Instinct’ and ‘Showgirls’.  What a weird choice.  I mean I laughed when I read his name.  But Joe Eszterhas was awarded the Emanuel Foundation’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 1995 for his writings about the Holocaust in Hungary and two of his projects, “Betrayed” and “Music Box,” speak to Jewish themes.

I am totally on board with this.  It is a little strange that Mel Gibson wants to do this given the rant he went on several years ago, but he was drunk and acting insane.  I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt.  Just make another Lethal Weapon film please.
