We’ve been hearing for a while that there will be a full female film called ‘Ocean’s 8‘, which will coincide with the ‘Ocean’s 11‘ movies. In fact, Sandra Bullock will play Danny Ocean’s (George Clooney) sister with Cate Blanchett playing the role that Brad Pitt played in the trilogy of movies. It looks to be set in the same universe and stars Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Awkwafina, with Rihanna and Helena Bonham Carter. There will be many other cameos as well, including Matt Damon, reprising his role as Linus.

I don’t know why they would make this, but it’s not looking good based on this first trailer. Everyone and every thing looks to be an exact replica of the first film from Ocean getting out of jail and meeting with her friend to plan a job and recruiting all of the other criminals. Their target looks to be jewelry. I laughed out loud. Did we not learn anything from the ‘Ghostbusters‘ movie? Nothing about this trailer looks good. It’s a rehash that doesn’t need a rehash. There is no creative footprint here, but rather just copying what someone else did, but not better or in a new, original way. The only difference is that they are women instead of men.

I’m all for the equality and everything, but just capitalizing on something so dumb is this, makes me not want to watch movies. Judging by this trailer, there will be no creative spark, but I do bet there will be the same story lines and tropes, and twists at the end. And I bet, if this movie makes a $1 dollar profit, Warner Bros. will greenlight the trilogy bringing it to Ocean’s 9, then to Ocean’s 10, which will lead into the original trilogy. I’m fully out of this franchise as of this moment. This will not be good. But enjoy the trailer anyways.
