Hey guys, Jana here,
Kathryn Bigelow is the director behind ‘Zero Dark Thirty‘, ‘The Hurt Locker‘ and ‘K19: The Widowmaker‘ and she’s got a new project in the early stages of production. So early it’s just called an ‘Untitled Detroit Project‘ at the moment. It’s a crime drama written by Mark Boal, set in Detroit 1967. The project will tackle a police raid resulting in one of the largest citizen uprisings in United States’ history spanning 5 days. It’s planned for a 2017 release date just in time for the 50th anniversary of the riots.
John Boyega (‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens‘) has taken the lead role in the ‘Pacific Rim‘ sequel that he and business partner Femi Oguns will be co-producing through their company, Upper Room Productions Ltd. and has just been cast Bigelow’s Detroit pic. Writer Boal and Bigelow worked together on ‘The Hurt Locker and ‘Zero Dark Thirty‘, each of which received Oscar nominations with a win going to ‘The Hurt Locker‘.
