Jim Carrey and Eli Roth are teaming up to bring ‘Aleister Arcane‘ to the big screen, which is a comic book from the horror master Steve Niles (30 Days of Night) from IDW Comics. Carrey will star in the film and executive produce the picture with Jon Croker writing the screenplay. Croker also wrote ‘The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death‘.

If you’re unfamiliar with the story of ‘Aleister Arcane‘, this was a comic published in 2004 and followed a Los Angeles weatherman named Aleister Green who goes to his hometown to host a midnight horror show in the same vein as Elvira. The name Aleister Arcane is the name he uses for this character, as he performs scary yet fun skits related to horror. The local people and sponsors are unhappy due to all the gore, which then follows an accident with two kids that leads to Aleister being put on trial. Soon after this, dangerous and horrifying activities and instances begin happening in the town and only the kids have the power to stop the evil. It’s quite a fun comic book.

Jim Carrey hasn’t been in a movie since ‘Dumb and Dumberer’, according to THR, but has a couple of movies ready to release – one of the being a horror movie. Looks like he loves the horror genre. I can’t wait for this film and I hope Steve Niles is a consultant or producer on the film as well. I like this team up of Eli Roth and Jim Carrey. More info to come as well as casting news.
