Hi, Bryan Here….
Jim Carrey is now taking his comedic stylings to the action genre in ‘Loomis Fargo’, an action comedy film about the heist of a $17 million armored car. And director Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite, Nacho Libre) is attached to direct the film. And SNL creator Lorne Michaels and John Goldwin will be producing along with Hess.
The script was written by Emily Spivey (Up All Night), with major treatments by Danny McBride and Jody Hill. The most recent version of the script was done by Chris Bowman and Hubbel Palmer, who worked on the ‘Napoleon Dynamite’ cartoon. Carrey will play the leader of a gang of Southern armored car guards who pull off a huge heist, and is supposedly based on a true story according to THR.
The film has been budgeted for around $30 million, which seems like a huge pay-cut for Carrey, since he nets around $20 million per film. This seems in the vein of ‘ 30 Minutes Or Less’, which starred Danny McBride, and was about a bank heist and based on a true story. Seems like fun and something different for Carrey. I’m glad Carrey is doing different things these days, what with this film and him having a big role in ‘Kick-Ass 2’.
I can only hope that at some point during ‘Loomis Fargo’, Carrey says, ‘Like a glove!” Also read about the true story HERE.
