I’m afraid I have some bad news. Director Edgar Wright has exited ‘Ant-Man‘, the upcoming Marvel film. This just sucks. Wright who has directed ‘Shaun of the Dead‘, ‘Hot Fuzz‘, ‘The World’s End‘, and ‘Scott Pilgrim‘ was announced as the director of ‘Ant-Man‘ a few years ago and recently released casting news that Paul Rudd was going to star in the film. Well, we got word today that Wright and Marvel have parted ways due to creative differences on where they want to see the film go.

This really sucks. Marvel should have let Wright have creative control over this  property, as he has proved himself time and time again on how amazing he can make a film. And let it be known that Jon Favreau (director of ‘Iron-Man 1 and 2′), decided to not to make 3 because Marvel was becoming a big pain in the ass to work with. Don’t believe me? Listen to his commentary tracks on the Blu-rays for the ‘Iron Man’ films.

Marvel said, “Marvel and Edgar Wright jointly announced today that the studio and director have parted ways on ANT-MAN due to differences in their vision of the film. The decision to move on is amicable and does not impact the release date on July 17, 2015. A new director will be announced shortly.”

Now we hear that the studio has already chosen a director, but have not announced it yet. And we do not know the specific reasons as to why Wright left, but it must be some big issues, because again, Wright has been working on this film for quite a few  years already. Marvel is still planning on releasing this a year from now, despite this news, but rest-assured, Wright’s style will not be shown on screen and that sucks for everyone.
