Kim L., Here….
I think this is one of the funniest films this year. Jason Sudeikis and Jennifer Aniston have great on screen chemistry and to add Emma Roberts and Will Poulter makes for a really fun time at the movies. Jason plays David Clark a small time drug dealer that gets robbed trying to help out Will’s character Kenny who is defending Casey played by Emma Roberts.
David owes his boss, played by Ed Helms, money and to pay off his debts Brad (the boss) says that if he goes to Mexico and brings a smidge of drugs back then all is forgiven and he will even pay him a fee. The only way David sees that he can get across the border with drugs is to look as innocent as possible so he hires Rose whose is a stripper, Casey, a runaway and Kenny, a kid that just has no idea about anything, to be his “family” to bring these drugs across the border. The “Millers” end up meeting a family, the Fitzgerald’s, played by Nick Offerman, Kathryn Hahn and Molly C Quinn, that are also traveling from Mexico and the interactions with them are pretty laughable especially a game of Pictionary and an encounter in a tent.
The writers of this film did a great job by keeping the jokes coming and putting the actors in situations that are just plain funny and a few times really raunchy. I really love Will Poulter’s character in this film. He had good timing and really showcases his comedic side. I only remember him from the Narnia movie, but I am pretty sure we will be seeing much more of him. I am disappointed though that they left out the funniest line in the trailers out of the movie.
I was not all that impressed with the soundtrack but they did add a catchy song that the actors sang that stayed in my head even after I left the film. Stay during the credits for some outtakes. ‘We’re The Millers’ is a definite must see.
